  1. For the first time yesterday I had water in the petrol tank.mad.gif

What a bummer, so I ran it on tick-over for over an hour and half way through my ride back home it got better again.whistling.gif

Phew, I was thinking all sorts blink.gif

    PTT petrol station on Sukhumvit.bah.gif

water in petrol or diesel remains in top of the tank, so as long as tank is more than half full it doesnt get to the fuel pump

next time you just drain half the tank with a hose from the upper half, and water is gone without hurting pump and injection:)

Sorry beachbum..is impossible for water to float on top of anything else , esp fuels.

Always goes to the bottom because water is heaviest...old talk ....water is about 10lbs per gallon

Petrol is about 7 lbs per gallon

Diesal maybe 8 lbs per gallon

Cant beat physics ... fuels always float on top of water.

  2. Did it ever occur to you that i might have been taking the pee from your initial spelling error, hence why i didn't spell it correctly, i'm hardly going to pull you up for a spelling error only to make the same error myself.... As i've said before, take a deep breath and relax.... you're not making the forum an enjoyable experience for yourself........

Just to enlighten you a bit more, a dash of lemonade in a pint of beer is not called a Shandy....its called a lager top/dash...............phew

You have got one way out weird sense of humour rick [ if thats what it is] usually people put a :D or a  if they are really trying to be the funny one.......maybe only you can understand it i think

A shandy... from the word shandygaff[ [ like what we used to buy the girls in the pub ] was 50/50 beer and lemonade , and maybe it should be your tipple.....phew

Anyway about coffee as is the OP...

I wander what the ratio of black coffee drinkers to white coffee drinkers would be?

Anyone able to give a good opinion.....

  3. Yeh typo.....:) Sorry i'm just not as perfect as you obviously, but i hope you did get the message :whistling:

And hey, there i was ,in respose to SamKong....talking about wombats on Phuket..lol :D ....

Actually, not into putting milk in good coffee i.e Latte's and Capacino's, always have it black....just like my women !!!! Kinda like putting a lemonade top in a pint of Stella....absolute sacrilege.....but hey.... each to their own i guess.....

Oh dear...first you tell me; Never heard of a "Capacino".......... guess it could be Al's brother !!!!! :cheesy:

Now you say you dont like Capacino....

If you find it neccessary to play the smartass ..at least get it right boy...

Besides that i really did take you for a ''shandy'' drinker....maybe you should be huh :D

  4. Totally agree there.. Starbucks never fails to disappoint, and aint cheap either.

Just like McDonalds, expensive unhealthy disgusting cardboard waste disguised as food, but global marketing has made it what it is today, a high profile brand with a crap product but people still eat there because its comfort food and quick and easy for todays lazy sloaths.

Agree with Starbucks, very poor excuse for coffee but people buy into the brand cos its "cool" give me Lavazza any day.....best coffee i've tasted in LOS by a mile

Never heard of a "Capacino".......... guess it could be Al's brother !!!!! :cheesy:

Yeh typo.....:) Sorry i'm just not as perfect as you obviously, but i hope you did get the message :whistling:

And hey, there i was ,in respose to SamKong....talking about wombats on Phuket..lol :D ....

  5. in house Latte or capacino leaves most shops for dead IMO [personally would walk straight past starbucks or black canyon]

Totally agree there.. Starbucks never fails to disappoint, and aint cheap either.

Not cheap, not tasty, Just shows the power of advertising i guess....

Also they have the advantage of being globally regonised, so visitors see the starbucks sign and relate to coffee.

I understand this as it takes local knowledge to find the local decent shops.

Most tourists wouldn't relate to Waa Wee or Coffee mania shops...[ another great thai /italian coffee shop near patong.]

  6. I spent years back and forth between uk and mainland europe.. Often with sportscars (euro) in the uk.. It was a pain in the ass and worse the faster the car.

Having a half decent driving ability doesnt negate the fact your on the wrong side of the road to see if its clear to overtake.. So you have to either lay back a LONG way or stick half the car over into the oncoming lane to see if its clear to pass..

Other than overtaking its not much of an issue, but fast car is exactly when it is a pain.

Done the same myself, but in reality most fast roads for fast cars are now multilane and hence for a majority of overtaking no worries about oncoming traffic.

That and the fact that i mostly have a passenger in theopposite side easily negates most other overtaking issues.

Still comes down to the NO> 1 priority on the highways...Drive to suit the conditions..this is all encompassing, from weather to overtaking options

    Parking is a breeze also..yes? :)

  7. sounds good jay. i'll have to stop buy next time i'm in rawai.

kata big rock also sounds interesting. where is the kata temple exactly?

i'll get around to trying some of the italian blends eventually but every time i'm at villa, i've already splurged on wine, cheese and products from home. perhaps i've got to get the coffee first.

as for douwie egberts, i can't believe i've not seen it. i'll keep my eyes open and will be pleasantly surprised if grounds that cheap taste any good.

finally, thank you very much zpete. to think all these years i've been trying to plant my beans in hopes of growing a coffee tree.

i'm a quid pro quo kinda guy so here's one for you: koala bears aren't really bears at all and its closest living relative is the wombat.

Spot on mate, and theres no shortage of wombats here in phuket...lol:D but am sure they are not related to koala's...

Back to coffee, same as cars, girls and beers, everyone has different opinions and likes and dislikes, but for me Waa Wee coffee shops have the best coffee available.

Grown up north Thailand i find very robust and flavourfull, in house Latte or capacino leaves most shops for dead IMO [personally would walk straight past starbucks or black canyon]

Waawee coffee also has the same coffee for sale to take home and brew yourself.

  8. This is worth blinging up!!!

Very nice muscle car, needs no modding it is perfect as it is..

Left hand drive in a right hand drive country ??

1st mod would be a conversion of that factor.

    Why???

Quite unneccesary IMO...many left hand drive cars in RHD countries and visa-versa are permitted to drive without costly conversion.

Anyone with a half decent driving ability can drive such vehicals without problem. :whistling:

And as kenny said...perfect as it is..dont need to touch it at all.

  9. was just talking to a mate in the trade in UK

makita 5143r which is 14 inch or 355 mm ..good price about 400 quid..baht about 19000

    makita 5103r which is 10 1/2 inch or 270 mm...good price about 270 quid..about 13000 baht

like i said originally makita do not make a 12 inch or a 13 inch circular saw, so am interested in what the thai shop is selling you as a 13 incher.

do you have any model numbers that can be checked on?

if you can ,in fact buy a 13 inch for 12000 baht, it would be a great buy going on above prices.

makita is a leader in circular saws as far as longivity, perfect ergonomics , especially on circ saw ,and reliability, so you do pay a premium price

their 'budget' line maktec is really great value for the average handyman type user and often near half to 2/3 price of makita

    well worth a look.

i did five western style houses in isaan and bought all maktec tools, drop saw, jigsaw, router, 8 1/4 cicular saw, hammer drill etc at global house company in khonkaen, and used and abused them , figuring id get limited use and then trash them but not one problem at all and good to do another five homes easily.

    good luck

Interesting info regarding MAKTEC, as i bought a selection of their electric tools for handyman stuff and found them to be very good overall and for medium pricerange.

I thought that they were simply a no-name brand ,using a name close to MAKITA in an attempt to fool people into believeing they were a better brand.

As you say [ i googled it] maktec are indeed Makita's budget line and made in China under makita supervision.

    Thanks for info :jap:

  10. Sailing with a "speck" across oceans is just silly and has nothing to do with seamanship. A search and rescue action is looming quickly and will hopefully be successful. Why do people always try to spend other people's money ?

    nevermindtwo

Well, the plan was to go around the Malaysian peninsula, up towards Vietnam, up past Hong Kong, Japan, Kamchatka, cross the 26 miles to Alaska and go down the west Canadian and US coastlines to California.

Why do people always try to shoot down other people pushing the limits of human accomplishment? That includes me, by the way.

I agree about people wanting to shoot down the plans of others who have at least got the nads to go and have a go and i feel that a 'coastal trip is indeed 'do-able...

No problem for me as long as they have contingencey plans and do not endanger other peoples lives if and when :hit-the-fan:

If people over history had never set out on 'adventure' and exploration journeys, where would we be now?

Back in the day when 'learned folk'' believed the world was flat, and only insane fools would attempt to go forth, and endanger their lives [ and fall over the edge..lol] i''ll bet there was the same thoughts.

Problem now is that there are still those who want to knock adventurerers, keep everyone wrapped in cottonwool and safe and sound in their rooms on TV forums...:D

  11. I can't really see how any western country can justify extraditing one of their citizens to Thailand considering that any great amount of time spent in a Thai prison is tantamount to cruel and unusual punishment by western standards. Many are quick to claim "They get what they deserve" but regardless of what some may think of a convicted felon, in the west even the worst convicted criminals have the rights to not live in what is essentially a life of constant torture, abuse and neglect, an existence none of you reading this could even imagine. A place where losing ones mind and death from simple infection are common place. (Google 4000 days to get an idea of what I am talking about)

    front_a.jpg14170a.jpg

I cannot seem to reply in the box of your reply to me [ too many something or others it tells me!!] so will reply here ...easier:)

Your comments re the life and times in a Thai prison are factually correct...no doubt about it, it is near hel_l on earth to be incarcerated there for a ''petty crime such as small drug deals etc] but murderers and rapists and pedo's deserve every day in hel_l IMO...

Knowing that the conditions are so attrocious has prevented me [ a scorner of crime and punishment, or lack of in the west ] from doing anything anywhere near a crime in LOS!!

Anyone with half a brain even can balance the 'joy of the moment' against the fear of punishment and simply be a good boy! easy as IMO !

If you haven't already, maybe you could start a group to help these poor fools who mainly have been imprisoned for THEIR own mistakes in society . Many things in LOS legal

system are 'cruel and unusual compared to Western society, but we are living in Thailand huh! We are visiters here and as such must obey the hosts rules, right or wrong, in your

opinion, but thats the facts. If you cant do the time...dont do the crime...works for me! You can waste all your life 24/7 pointing out just how atrocious life inside a Thai joint is and help

the incarcerated as much as you like...ain't going to change things one iota!!

    Now..regarding this from you:

''I was talking about all people in Thai prison. So I need to take a long look at myself because I am capable of compassion and empathy for other humans? Hmmm..interesting position there. ''

But the real issue here is not ''all people in thai prison'' ;It is about The planned extradition to LOS for mr scumbag

The delightfull excuse for a human being even with his 'roid-riddled ' braincells ,he understood the result of his actions would mean going into the Thai system and all the hel_l that

you and other do-gooders are so offended by...thats why he ran like a rat!

Back to old blighty mate..do the time in nice digs...cups of tea all round !what ! Gosh chaps the tellys on the blink...heelllooo warder bring us a new telly would ya...manchester

game is on soon and ...golly , would hate to miss the kick-off what!

I applaud you if you want to help ,in some way, the many in thai jails and doing HARDTIME for relatively minor offenses, thats your prerogative, but in this case [ and thats what

this thread is about] you are way off track .

This guy and all others who commit serious crime, and have been prooven guilty by their peers deserve absolutely no compassion at all !! Bring him back and if he is found guilty

as charged he should be tucked up in his multi- shared hel_l hole here in LOS forever ...for life!! No remand, no nothing!

He alone made the choice to do what he did...now he pays big time.

Many people [and i used to ] think the death penalty is the answer in theses types of cases..its not, its far too easy for the perps...do the time first and then put him down like a dog.

My late mates family and i would say , the majority of victems families, including MR Longfellows would strongly push for such treatment. Every birthday, every anniversary, every day

for ever, the victems are reminded of their loss, it never goes away !! And the victem doesn't come back!

Whatever happens to a perp..death penalty or life in LOS jail can give a momentary lift to us that justice has been done...but can never, ever bring back the life and love that a

    murderer has taken away. :realangry:

  12. I can recommend from many real thai and oil massages i've had in the downstairs of Christin Massage in Patong.

Foot massage in the front and real massage on clean, white sheets on proper elevated massage tables ,with face hole.

Thats my place of choice for a proper massage

Not down on the floor on unclean matresses covered in who knows what!

PS also i've seen that the ladies are treated quite well here...they don't have to stand outside in the weather and sqawk ''hello hansum man'' etc to get custom.

They all sit inside aircond room with tv and music and can nap whenever they like...hel_l of a job IMO [ massaging hot sweaty fat guys ] but this place seems to treat the ladies a lot better than most

Are you saying that some scumbag such as this jerk or any of the hundreds of others on earth that commit serious offenses such as murder and rape actually deserve to have a life , after the trial, and found guilty????

Life sentence in thai style jail is the only treatment for them...suffer in hel_l..think about their actions all day and every day,!!! Serious crime=serious time!

Most western style jails are more like 2 star guest houses now,and thats why there are so many 'repeat offenders'' they actually like it in there .on release they simply 're-offend'' and back to their home away from home they go......thats not a case of the punishment fitting the crime is it? or do you think it is?

I had a best mate murdered in 1993,, left behind 2 kids and loving wife with nothing...only memories..

The dog who coldbloodedly murdered him for a lousy 500 bucks is now a free man..released 2 months ago in secret..

Sadly for him, i doubt if he gets to see xmas again...

As with this poor yank, there are many freinds who will do exactly what the 'justice system' failed to do........eye for an eye!!!

If you really believe as you posted above, you need to take a long hard look at yourself bud..

Put yourself in the family and friends shoes and think about it again

  14. You've got one of the world's healthiest and tastiest cuisine's nearly on your doorstep: fresh, home-cooked, inexpensive Thai meals.

Because, you know, after the 5000th meal with rice, sometimes you just fancy something different.. Be it Sushi, A burger, a sunday roast.. Whatever it is..

Why do you even bother with burgers anymore?

    Get. A. Life.

Why does it bother you ??

    G.A.L. back at ya.

Getting low on decent posts to reply to to keep your average at 4.88 /day or what L/L

Sometimes you do have a reasonable opinion to post but .....G.A.L back at ya...????? Wasn't even directed at you...

    Primary school stuff isn't it?

  15. Sounds like my latest dream.

I am out at night, hunting down the family who every few weeks buys over 100 000 small fireworks and lights them up all night non-stop

I hunt them out with a magnum and shoot them slowly in all their limbs. You probably entered my dream.

Thats one hel_l of a dream bud

More like a sick nightmare IMO

  16. Hi:) again! Thank you very much for your help. I’ve already asked the scientific name which is magnesium sulfate but they gave me different one and it’s in liquid base. The problem here is that few of them know how to speak in English sometimes they just say they don’t know.

Actually I only need 2 tablespoon of Epsom salt for the removal of my gallstones. That’s why I badly need it and im calling who have epsom salt there? don't worry i don't need a kg of epsom salt just small amount...

    Thank you in advance.

Epsom salts is indeed a proven method of removing gallstones instead of hospitalisation.

You must for at least a week prior to salts have an intake of malic acid [ fresh apple juice is a good scource]

In case your stones are large, and if they are , you run the risk of them blocking your gall bladder ducts on the way out...can end up a major problem.

The malic acid softens the stones to ensure they then pass more easily.

I think Booths pharmacy has Epsom Salts.

PM me if you want more info...dont need the doberman guy adding his nothingness comments to your problems..

  17. Tell you what this Jamesie bloke is a true god. Not only an Aircon engineer but a Condom councellor and General Practitioner !!!! We're not worthy :jap:

Not a true god at all stoop...

Just an average joe with the capability to observe and learn from lifes experiences, and the ability to share this knowledge with people who want to know.

Also have the ability to ensure brain is engaged before keyboard is operated.

You may want to try that one yourself sometime :whistling:

  18. I would expect fireworks noise to run into itself, ie explosives on top of explosives in a haphazard manner.

These shots were one after another, boom, boom, boom, etc, like someone was pulling a trigger each time. About 10-12 shots.

It happened about 40 metres from my window and I can assure you these were no little chinese fireworks or bottle rockets being set off. The muzzle flashes were sudden, violent, short and immediate, there were no rockets heading into the air.

Definately wasn't rifle fire, but repeating, it sounded like a large caliber hand gun.

The people next door are a mixture farang/thai and they have a rep for holding long, high stake card games. Haven't met any of them, not very friendly.

Quite possible is gunfire..no doubts there...stay inside ...lol

I don't know if you could tell the difference in sound, between pistol and rifle as many pistols also are capable of breaking the sound barrier...giving the charactoristic crackkkkk

Even some airrifles can do so, but you have no muzzle flash obviously.

    Good luck

  19. Eno is sold in all pharmacies and most 711's. Does the same job as Epsom Salts.

    Disagree....thats a sweeping statement if ever k/b

Epsom salts is more often used as a bathing type treatmtent...sometimes used for constipation

Eno's is an indigestion aid...So does not do the same job

Depends on what the OP intended use is, as to what he/she takes.

  20. Head down Viset (Wiset) Rd.

Plenty of suicide jockeys dodging the bikes as they plod down there every day.

Never did understand this jogging -for-fun thing...

    You never see :D

You do see :boring: or :(

    Just my observations...

Totally up to you of course..

  21. The police chief said he also would tell the Saudi diplomat that if it were any consolation, Somkid's promotion had actually resulted in his having a lesser mandate, since a commissioner in charge of a police region is seen as more powerful than an assistant national police chief.

    555555 Tell me again!

Yeah sure...TIT ..That is no consolation, just another insult IMO

  22. Sorry but the guy ain't no hero IMO

credit to him for having the balls and decency to do the right thing..good man, but hero???

The word is mis- used far too frequently nowadays and takes away from people who really are heroes.

If your called a hero for just doing the right thing, what the hel_l could you name for example, a person who with total disregard for his/her own life goes into a burning building to rescue people...that IS a hero! :jap:
