  1. I am a UK national with a house in both the UK & Thailand. I want to spend about 6 months a year in both countries.

I am recently married to a Thai & she will be with me in both countries. She has just been granted the 2 year UK visa.

What is my best long term option to minimize visa hassles for myself in Thailand ?

    Thanks

  2. Am planning for my new life post my marriage & application for my wife to be`s settlement visa.

    Help

Can my wife work in the UK during the 2 year period?

I have a house in Thailand which I visit frequently does my wife have to spend a certain amount of time in the UK during the two years ?

I read that its is important to travel immediately from the date of the visa otherwise the 2 years will be eroded & ?? another visa needed??

I read that we have to retain certain documents during the 2 years????

After the two years to get ILR will she have to pass citizenship exams etc ?

Where is the best source of information on these particular matters ?

I want to be able to spend maybe half our time in Uk & half in Thailand is this possible during the two years??

    Thanks guys

  3. I have been slaving over VAF2 over the last few week worried that I may not get it right when I suddenly notice new forms are needed after 29th October.

I fly to BKK on 2nd November & I have not been able to view or download the new forms.

I intend to marry probably on the 6th & then apply for Settlement for my Thai wife. I just about have everthing done following guidance from this forum.

Does anybody know if its just a form change or are any of the rules etc changing as well?

I have had a VV refused already for my then Thai girlfriend & I cannot bear another refusal.

  4. Its outrageous that there is no mention of this on the application form and yet I have just read that if you fail to provide the TB certificate your visa will be rejected & the fee will not be refunded.

How are you suppose to pick up on these details if its not referred to on the application ?

Quite simply by referring to this guide to requirements for a Fiancee visa which should be read in conjunction with the VAF2 form and is on the UK VAC web site where you will submit the application. It is clearly stated together with details of How to do the TB test

Many thanks............... this checklist is very useful & I appreciate your help very much. Pity this is not mentioned on the application form. Thanks again.

  5. Yes, it is. See the TB testing requirements page of the embassy website.

    Scouse.

  6. I live in the UK & visit my house in Thailand for about 10 weeks per year. I am about to be divorced in the UK & I want to marry my Thai girlfriend who lives at my house in Hua Hin & I have known her for 3 years. Then I want her to come to the UK although I want to spend more & more time in Thailand.

My girlfriend was recently refused a UK visit visa maybe because I was still married in the UK.

    Questions

I have read that I have to wait 310 days after divorce in the UK before I can marry in Thailand is this correct?

Is it best to marry in Thailand then apply for the visa or go for a marriage visa and wed in the UK?

Is it true that after the Thai marriage my Thai wife cannot hold any assets in Thailand Land etc?

    HELP

    Thanks

  7. I think most of the advice given here is cynical & callous.

Rodeo never used the word sex in his plea for some warm experienced advice from so called Knowlegeable Farangs.

I think the girl must love you Rodeo otherwise she would not want to Marry you.

Make sure you do not register the Marriage & have a great experience.

I suspect the local Thias will create a great day for you.

Be careful that your wife does not find out about this.

You should then have many happy hours of good company with your "Thia Wife" in the future.

Trust me...... go on Marry her and let us all Know how you get on.

  8. There is nothing illegal about the company route.

The Thais do not own "on behalf of Foreigners" they actually own 51% of the shares outright.

This is perfectly legal also in the UK, France etc

The point is because you have a blank undated share transfer document signed you would transfer the shares to another Thai if a particular Thai did not want to vote in accordance with your wishes. If the Thai died you do the same thing.

In practice there are no meetings & no invovement of the Thai shareholders.

I am a Chartered Accountant & this process is often used in the UK Its legal here as well.

I have done this with my property in Hua Hin.

  9. I think you will find that there is no requirement for a company to trade it can just hold assets just like in the UK.

All companys face potential random enquirys from the authorities just like the Uk.

Tell me precisely what is dodgy?

What happens in Thailand could be repeated exactly in the UK & it would be entirely legal.

Ask your expert What is dodgy?

I have spent sometime checking this out & I do not see any problem it is completely legal.

The only problem that could arise would be if you lost the signed share transfer forms.

If you rented the property strictly the income should go through the company.

  10. I have just bought a house & I had to consider the same issue.

I have no doubts that the company route is the best one & everone I have spoken to that buys has used this route.

For one thing the practicalities of selling up & returning the funds to the UK is much easier.

The process is not dodgy or illegal as far as I know.

I am a charterd Accountant in practice in the UK & the use of a share transfer form signed in blank by the Thai shareholders is used in the UK a lot its completely legal here as well.

As for the costs its peanuts.
