Thailand
A slow motion train wreck in action now.
The regime used the Urban dislike and mistrust of the rural Thais and of the North to split the people and thus open the door for the coup.
The people of Bangkok thought there would be some return to democracy. They were played the fools. There was never any intention of holding anything that even resembled real elections. Now the people of Bangkok are slowly but surely becoming hostile toward the regime and all of its parts.
The rich seem United against the people for now but that can quickly change should anything close to a revolution start to raise its head.
Different rich will split to different sides of the fight based upon beliefs and self interest.
That tick tock you hear is the ticking time bomb that will go off sooner or later here.
Farangs will split and run out of the nation in mass for their own safety.
The economy, which is already in decline will collapse.
The city might even burn.
It could all be avoided if only the rich elite who rule the nation would use their own common sense and education to make changes. Do you really think this system can continue here when it has collapsed all over the world in other places? You think you are somehow smarter or more charming than the other elites in Europe were? You are better than the Russian leaders of old Russia were? If I were you I would not wait until the people are hungry and then say--"let them eat Rice".
I am glad I got out. it is a terrible place to raise children now and the danger for Farangs is on a steady increase.
The only thing the two sides in a Thai civil war would agree upon is that the farang need to go.

Love of money in Thailand is the greatest evil.
Funny a people who want to see themselves as Buddists being so so materialistic.
Everything here is about money.
Relationships
Family
Even religion
People are for sale here
But all and all--back on topic now--I would be worried if I were even a farang working in Thailand. This clean up of workers could easily go over to Farangs soon.

What is Thailand today?
Not a democracy
Not free.
The dictarorship runs it,
It is not answerable to any law.
-
It is interesting how Thailands current puppet dictatorship, which takes orders from the same group that has given orders for over 50 years, is cracking down so so hard.
People posting are afraid. If they are in Thailand, well they should be.
This in itself is very sad indeed.
Perhaps the closer a group gets to losing what they have, the more desperate they act.
Thailand is not what it once was. Hard to be happy when someone has a gun to your head.
The Baht is 33 or so against the US dollar. It likely will head past 40.
This is great for tourist if they were not afraid of this place. Yet it is not so good for you boys and girls working and making baht is it.
Pluses and minuses
Plus--girls look good.
Plus--girls look good
Minus-Air pollution
Minus- crime
Minus-Dictatorship
Minus- poor pay
Plus--girls
Are you staying?
I bet the vast majority of you will leave should this get even a little worse.
Even a site like this could be completely closed down soon.
The only reason it has not been is because it is English and nobody gives a rats what farang think anyway.
Who would have though that Cambodia would become more free than Thailand.
it is you know.
-
The economy is likely in recession now.
It will get much worse.
There is going to be a price for this hostility toward democracy the elite and the army has shown.
Too bad.
The sky is falling is it?
Or is it just not the sky you like?
Thai banks say the economy is going into recession. Hardly am I making it up and your sky is falling comment would indicate you do not believe this fact. Show us quote from a bank in Thailand that says otherwise.
-
And I will have a drink to celebrate their departure.
Yes I understand your feeling.
However, if I had a bad visitor in my house, I do not think burning down my own house would be a good plan for getting rid of them.
The Farang running away would simply be a response to the Thai house being on fire.
-
So is this the sweet and calm Thailand we get told about?
Farang being thrown out tall buildings is so common that it hardly draws your attention anymore.
But about the economy, and it is the economy that will get everyone's attention should it collapse, it is in recession likely now.
Should it crash, and it could, this place will get real precarious. Crime will increase. People living in the streets will become common.
But you all know that.
Who runs Thailand now? Is it a group of wealthy that includes the family? I mean they own the army.
Yet it seems that no one knows for sure.
Would trade sanctions from nations change things? Likely the Thai elite would simply dig in and hold on as Thailand turned into Myanmar part II.
But with or without trade sanctions, the economy is going into a deep recession and any recovery will be unlikely under these conditions.
I will know it is over when some of you full time apologists for this Thai regime start to complain. When you wake up and see all your friends moving out of the nation you might get alarmed.
Beer and babes will not make up for the negatives after a time.

Great idea.
Copy the ways of Myanmar and become a poster child of abuse of a woman.
Result massive trade barriers and an end to the modern Thai economy.

The people who ordered the coup and financed it should be put on trial at the Haag and convicted and jailed.

Puppet clown government.
Baht to 40 soon.
Bars closed for weeks, months, or forever.
Media turned off.
Internet sites blocked.
See you all in Cambodia soon.
-
Well
The baht will go to 40 soon and that is great news for the bar hoppers.
BUT
You cannot go out past 10.00
Not so good.
Bars need to open at noon now and close at 10.00.
-
Well
No TV
Bars closed
Army in the streets
No reason fro the beer drinking bar hoppers to be in Thailand now is there.
I think the baht will collapse. Normally good for you beer drinkers on vacation but since the bars are closed--not so this time.

Of course the Reds win the next election.
But really Reds.
When the other side plays dirty with puppet courts put into power after coups, it is time to play rough.

All the post raging and rants against The T man have a look of government propaganda the like of what we see out of Russia and that is a shame is it not?
I do not mean to say that those who oppose Taksin's ideas and political party are all undemocratic but certainly the posts we are reading here mostly are.
The group opposing Taksin certainly has more money and power than does the party that backs Lady Taksin PM. Yet we constantly here that the reason they oppose elections--the yellows and such--is because the Reds simply buy votes to win. But how can that be when the yellows have more money and almost certainly use it in amounts that surpass what the reds can use in elections. Seems that money does not buy the election.
How many times will the now ruling class depose elected governments? Is there no limit or shame to the ability for the ruling class to act?
It is obvious that things are changing rapidly in Thailand as the old try to hold on to the old un-democratic ways. Things are comfortable for those who use money and power but the cost to the nation is severe in the end.

How true this headline is.
But of course the unlected Regime is still in command of the Army generals and Bangkok.
Up country power is fading though.

Rather dull writing and he told us nothing we did not already know.
Funny sitting in Singapore talking about democracy. I did not know you had any idea what it was.
1860
The United States of America had an election.
The South refused to vote for Lincoln but did vote because they knew that Lincoln needed NO SUCH thing as a certain percentage not voting to stop him.
So let me get this straight Thailand.
if a certain percentage does not vote than the election is void?
So the Reds can simply refuse to vote to stop your yellows from ever winning as well.
But this story is dull.
Ghandi and Mandellah knew how to take down a ruling class. Just simply shut the economy down.
Nothing rich people hate more than losing money.

These two sides do not like each other.
-
What if President Obama likes the Thai PM.
Looks like he did.
Would he get together with the British PM and the French President and have a talk with some of the top Thai generals?
The rich Thai Generals are not stupid. They certainly do not want to have international pressure turned against them and Thailand over a thing like democratic rule. I mean after all, they all still have most of the money so why bother.
-
So trying to block people from voting is what some of you are trying to defend?
Let us get this right.
If your party thinks it will lose an election, all you have to do is simply drop out of the game and thus make the election illegitimate?
How would that work in other nations?
I am sure the Democrats in America would love it if the Republicans did not vote.
The Republicans for sure would be happy if the democrats did not vote.
This same would be true all over the world.
But no one would be stupid enough to think that by not voting that you could block another party from winning.
Of course here in the Land of smiles (coups), the Yellows will be followed by the puppet court which will perhaps try to throw out the ruling party for cooking on TV.
No matter---this entire game relies upon the international community ignoring these coups either done with the army or with the court.
The moment the international community strongly objects with the threat of significant trade sanctions, the rich in Thailand who run the nations will fold to international pressure and allow the Reds to run the nation. That is coming sooner or later.

Bang Bang
He shot me down
Bang Bang
I hit the ground
Bang Bang
The man in black shot me down.
-
Just hit Thailand with trade sanctions and put out arrest warrents for the ruling class and generals from the Hague.
The generals would look cute in the jail like Mlochivich was.
-
Looks like the middle and middle upper class of Bangkok are not so in love with the Yellows.
Yes, they do not like the Reds but they do not like the Yellows either as we can see by them simply watching the yellows fold into nothing in the planned march of the millions which turned into the march of a few thousand here or there.
How do you do a coup when no one backs you?
AND--if no one backs you and you do the coup anyway, how do you control a place like Thailand which is fairly uncontrollable to begin with?
If the election is held in Feb as planned, the pressure from the internationsal community of nations to except the election results will be very very strong. The argument that we yellows and Dems boycotted so the election is no good will not be very strong when it is apparent that the Yellows and the Dems did not even want any election. We can all be sure that if they thought they would win that the Dems would not be boycotting.
Like a little child who quits the game when losing, the Dem party ran home to mother crying.
Please do a coup mama. Do a coup WAH WAH WAH. Nobody like us.
Just do it papa and mama. I promise I will be a good boy this time and not steal too much or kill too many.
But son---the world is watching and we are not in the mood to look stupid.
I will hold my breath mama.
Bad boy--go to your room and no more drugs and whisky for you.

Thaksin in the list of those hunted for lese majeste and other offences
in Thailand News
Posted
Mickey Mouse
George Bush
Moe Larry Currley
The Beatles
Donald Trump
All on the list too.
Who cares?
I bet some of you expats living in Thailand for more than a decade never thought Thailand would turn into what it now has become. A Military you know what. Starts with a J hunt A.
But oh well. When the economy collapses as it eventually will with this type of government, at least the girls will be plentiful again in the bars.
It is somewhat surprising that this has been allowed to happen but so it has.
I bet you boys and girls from the west never thought you would be living in a nation with a officer non-elected running things.
When the bars close and they kick you all out of the nation because there is no need for English for their people, where will you go?
Sad that this has happened but this was seeable. So it has come to be.
