I am not sure about broadband in England. I myself do not have a lot of knowlege on the subject. I was only informed it is a high speed digital line. Depending on your location it may be available. When i went to pay my telephone bill at tht tot office the lady there directed me to the department that deals with this. Being thailand i am still waiting for the office to come and measure the cable. Maybe some coins in the top pocket will be required to advance the progress. i hope some others can highlight on the subject.

Have you just purchased this GSM ? and this is a time limited promotion. I went to the AIS office in Ubon and they have no knowlage of being able to call all areas of thailand for 2 or 3 baht. I have been with AIS now for around 3 years. I am interested in how to obtain this low cost service if it is ongoing
and not a short promotion. Only call i can get for 3 Baht is local.

At present i have been using cs- internet countryplus and webnet by loxinfo as my ISP. I am living in Ubon and the dial up number given is local.I am using tot line to connect. The following are the main problems which i have
1 Very slow sometimes as low as 15 kbps
2 Often disconnected
3 Depend on what time used can be difficult to connect
I enquired at my local tot office and they informed me they can install a isdn line for me, As there is no line in the soi i live i would be charged for the cable from the main road to my house. Also there is a charge of Baht 8000 for some junction box fitted in the house. i do not use the internet on a daily basis as i work overseas. Has any other members had this system fitted in the north east ?.

Thanks in advance for any advice received
Please note i am living in Ubonratchathani
I am looking for any information on how to reduce my call cost
These are the most frequent calls made from ToT land line
a Ubon - BKK = Baht 15 per min
b Ubon - middle east normally oman = Baht 36 per min
c Ubon - UK = Baht 22 per min using e-fone, Information on e-fone given by TOT
1. Also have mobile GSM with AIS simcard which i receive a monthly statement
a Ubon- BKK = 8 Baht per min
b International calls are limited and no e-fone service is available
If there is another provider other than AIS will i still be able to retain my present number.
Is there any type of phone card i can obtain in thailand for calling Ubon while i am in the middle east.

Regarding the 250k. I have an account in bangkok which is in us dollars. For visa purposes is this ok or does the account have to be in thai baht. I only keep around 50,000 baht in TFB as the interest rate is almost zero.

My multiple 1-year "o" will expire on 23-04-03. This visa was obtained in Abu-Dhabi, i am admitted until 07-06-03. Because of the problems in the middle east not sure when i will be going back. Is it possable to get a one year extention in thailand and how long will this take. My company calls me at short notice so it is a problem if i have to send my passport to bangkok. Do you know of any immigration office up country that can make this visa in one day. I live in ubonratchathani any info on a border crossing around there if i have to do a visa run. If i am still in thailand at 07-06-03 will they only give me a 30 day tourist visa when i cross the border.
Thanks in advance

Please advise based on the following info. I am married to a thai and live in ubonratchathani. I am not involved in any type of work in thailand. I am self employed with most of my work being in the middle east.
(1) It seems there are two different ways to obtain a multiple ''o'' visa (a) From the immigration within thailand
( from a thai embassy in another country
If the visa is obtained in thailand does the local immigration stamp the visa or has your passport to be sent to bangkok.
I was informed if the visa was issued in thailand you must obtain a re-entry visa. This is obtained from whare? and how long does it last for ?
(2) i have 2 british passports can i have a visa stamped inside thailand on one and another stamped outside the country.
(3) After the ninety days has expired is it just a case of crossing the border and crossing straight back again.
(4) Please do you have any other info that may be of help to me regarding multiple entry 1- year visas.
Uk driving licence

I now wish to apply for a new uk driving licence. On receiving all the required forms from DVLA, It is stated they cannot issue a driving licence unless you are normally resident in the UK. I have a thai driving licence can this be used outside thailand if translated in english and certified ?. I am very seldom in the UK, most of my driving outside thailand is in the Middle East and Singapore.
