Hi.

I have a website that has become very popular and is sat on a hostinglotus VPS setup.

In the past 2 days since we launched, we have had almost 3000 registrations and are getting around 20,000 uniques a day and around 150,000 pageviews daily. This is set to rise fairly quickly. To around 50,000 uniques and around 15 million pageviews per month.

However, because we are so popular, we are attractive to hackers and DDOS attackers, especially from competitors who are very jealous of our instant stardom. Today we have had 2 DDOS attacks, and the site has been forced offline on one occasion.

I am in desperate need of DDOS protection, I want to stay on Thai servers as this is better for us.

Can anyone recommend a good host for dedicated server setup, probably semi managed with direct admin and very good support and good DDOS protection?

We need this very fast and cost is not a problem.

I don't want to go with hostneverdie because they took 6 of my sites offline for 5 days just because the HDD broke, and they said they needed 3 days to wait for a replacement, and considerring they are in BKK, they could have got on the scooter and had a new one in 30 minutes from the local mall. But obviously trying to save 300 baht to use a regular mail delivery provider. i think that is crazy. So I never forgive them for that. I would never put a site of this magnitude on under their control... EVER!

Would need to be English speaking site, or support, and 24 hours support.. I have had a good hunt around, but most options seem to all be in Thai language.

Well. although I try to kept to my trim 85Kilos my Mrs bless her always thinks she thinks for me which is some what anoying at times but I'm a bit of an old soft soap, so the donuts from Mr Donut come at 10 in a box, old well instead of 10 reps is up to 15 the next day on my multigym. :lol:

Yeah baked goods for me are literally like an allergic reaction, I feel myself literally bloating and swelling after eating it but it's so hard to avoid the magnitude of donut kiosks around the b'stards. Young healthy you might take the 220 Volt for a short time without any problem 95 % chance. But you may stick to it or be one of the 5 %.

Don't take the risk to save 5000 Baht, your funeral will cost more.

If you are 30 meters away from the discharge, then how the hell are you meant to be in contact with the cable or appliance that it is discharging from? Unless of course you are standing in water and your arms are 30 meters long.

If you are standing in water and you put your hand or any other part of your body in contact with something electrical, there is 'a possibility' that you are presenting yourself as an easier route to earth in which case the current will pass through your body. But if you were merely standing in water, then the current discharged and found its way to you, you would not die, in fact you would possibly only get some superficial burns on your leg at the worst.

If you were in a swimming pool and someone threw in a TV, it would probably not kill you either because chances are you are floating in the water and isolated from earth.

If you were in the bath, and someone threw a toaster in, and all the breakers were disabled and so nothing can trip out, then really, you are at a bigger risk, but the current would need to be picked up by a hand or an arm, which will send the current up your arm and across your heart. It takes approx 8 amps to stop your heart causing death by electrocution. Trust me, I have had plenty of electric shocks in my time, it is an occupational hazard.

so anyway... so long as your hand is not touching the source of power then you should be ok. You HAVE you be in contact with the source, or if a live cable is floating in the water, then your hand or arm needs to be near it to get it to pass through your heart.

Well... we have around 3 days of rain about to hit the Korat province, starting in the next few hours, so I doubt much of that info above would be much use soon.

I have an unfinished project that I want completed within the next 45 days.

It is to be coded in php, and using mysql databases.

Ideally, I am looking for a partner with the above skill sets. I have started this off myself in the design stage, I have quite a lot of the design set up already, but the functions need to be coded in. My OP happens to be directed at the Chinese authorities that controls the production of such substances and all things manufactured in China and exported to the west. The packaging is clearly self explanatory (Oh wait... yes, that girl is clearly on a dance floor in a night club)..

As a second example, the millions of cartons of illegal counterfeit cigarettes flooding out of China to the west, which had abnormally high amounts of arsenic, lead cadmium, not to mention fiber glass, asbestos, rat droppings and human feces... These are not produced in someone's spare bedroom, these are produced and shipped westwards in 40 foot containers, from huge factories. Cigarettes are bad enough as it is.

If you know anything about China, to open any business, you have to get the nod from the local party headquarters, you need to be a card carrying member of the party, to open a big factory, you need to be courting the officials pretty high up. Same with all the counterfeit goods flooding out of China, it is ALL authorized by local government.

Also. I suggest that you do a read up on google about the 'google sandbox' Because that is where you are going to be for as long as a few months, and even longer if you are found to be adding loads of backlinks and have loads of visitors on your site from day 1 from limited content.

I don't do any of those things any more... I do very little marketing, it is not necessary for my style of making money online.

I do give coaching though. I also advertise in the classified section of TV. (Services/tutoring).

I spotted a long time ago, that if you really want to make money online, the last thing you do is follow the hordes, unless you are very well networked and have some decent JVs with the 'right people'.

The numbers of affiliates all trying the same old stuff is now well in excess of 10 million.

What also makes me laugh, is when you Google SEO services or anything to do with SEO and there are literally hundreds of thousands who will GUARANTEE you number 1 in Google for you number 1 keyword within 6 to 12 months. These are all the 'so called' experts.

Now there are many many 'seo experts' out there... How can all of them promise number 1?? Oh they will take your money IN ADVANCE.

The most competitive keywords out there, must have hundreds of 'seo experts' all promised the same thing to their clients, and have been paid up front, and constantly asking for more money as they go, but there can be ONLY ONE!! The rest are just blowing smoke up your jack.

Think...... High searched = high competition / low searched = low competition.

I will get a bit of friction on here from the 'current seo experts' but who cares.. I don't have to worry about ANY of that any more.

I started my last campaign only a month ago, and now it is worth $4600 a month, by the end of next month, you can X 3 that number and can only grow. I spend about 30 minutes a day on it..

My Girlfriend who spends a lot of her time on the Thai webboards pointed this out to me.

The Chinese government have so far turned a blind eye to anything that threatens the west's economic stability. They actively seem to encourage the underground manufacturing of counterfeits with 'party officials' having huge stakes in the industry anyway. Considering that you must become a party member to get permission to do anything commercial in China.

At least they have had the sense to ban it in Thailand, but like anything here... It is only banned as far as the cost of a police bribe.

I have been here 15 months and I am still being shocked on a daily basis almost about how this country's system works. I mentioned this to my Thai gf and she was totally relaxed about it.. Yes this is the case. You have to pay the police for every action. The going rate is around 20 baht, 50 baht, then you are paying farang price. That is the corruption bit.

It amazes me though, that a country with its politicians skimming off money from the country's cash assetts at a rate of 100s of Billions of baht a year, and they refuse to pay for a police force.

This place could be so wealthy and successful, but it will always be 50 years behind the west, because 99.99% of the population just smile and get on with it.

If this place hit a particularly turbulent economic slump, the entire place would go hurling down the crapper and will go back 100 years in a decade.

The bleach was the winner, and it rained a few times since putting it down. Could hardly smell it the next day, yet the dogs obviously can.

Next one to figure out, is how to keep the dam_n scorpions out? I do get quite a few here. I had one come in the house the other day.. Came in under the back door and curled up for a sleep in the mop strands. I go to pick up the mop, and it falls out onto my bare foot. boy did that freak me. Only about 2 inches, but they can still pack a sting.

I had a sting in Malawi about 15 years ago, when one found its way into my backpack, I reached in to pull a book out and it got me on the back of the hand... Hurt for bloody days and I still got the scar.

It really is best to go with the non-confrontational method here in Thailand. Resentment from the neighbours can come back and bite you in the future. I highly recommend you just go for the chilli and pepper powder. Or dilute the bleach....regardless of how satisfying it feels to have made them notice.....

Can confirm the pepper works and the chilli works thoughdoes not seem as effective. I think thevolatile oils evaporate or something like that with the chilli. Does not need to be a lot of pepper, as stated already dogs always have aquick sniff before the act.

A friend of mine in Pattaya has an ultrasonic dog repellerthat works really well. Is about thesize of a cigarette packet and has a push button to activate. Great fun on a Sunday afternoon of a fewquiet beers and annoying the hell out of the Soi dog population. Apparently they take about a week to comeback and hello fido, here is another burst to help you on your way. Also works well on cats who act like theyhave been shot when hit with the beam at about 30 metres.

I also wanted to add that the potent stink of bleach in the street appears to be annoying the neighbours. I caught one of them gesticulating towards my drive entrance and saying something with 'falang' in the sentence.....lol

I already used the bleach. I did not use mild bleach, instead undiluted strong toilet cleaner. I thought that if its worth doing a job, its worth doing it properly.

I may also try a chili powder chaser, dogs always have a sniff of a place before they dump on it.
