Is there a "grace"  period over the speed limit that the camera will not give you a ticket? For instance you have to be going 10 km over the speed limit to get a ticket.

I think that in some countries in Europe there is a 'grace' limit of 2 - 5% (?), but I think not in Thailand. I once got 'busted' with 128 km/h. Speed cameras on the motorways are set to go off above 120 km/h.

The fine is currently only 500 Baht - also for 150 km/h, which I found out recently. Hardly a deterrent for many.

Once the authorities start to introduce a 'points system' and confiscation of the drivers's license for multiple traffic infractions, it may make many drivers think twice about breaking the traffic law. And it is on the way!

In some European countries the police can also confiscate the vehicle without compensation for serious offences - even if the actual driver does not own the car.

  2. I did my latest one year extension (Non-O) at Jomthien IO in Aril and an online 90 days report in early June this year. I was neither asked to return with proof of funds in the bank account 90 days later, nor was a notice clipped in my passport.

This year was the first time I went to Jomthien, previously I did my one year extensions in Bangkok. There too I was never asked to return with proof of funds in the bank.

  3. If it is not the first time you have to report, you can do it online on the Immigration website from 15 to 7 days before the date indicated for your next report. I have done it several times, and it works very well. I usually get the confirmation no later than the following working day. Don't forget to print it out and keep it with your passport.

If you are later than 7 days before your reporting date, you can do it either in person at the Immigration office or alternatively by sending in your completed 90 days form (TM47) with copies of the relevant pages of your passport and other relevant documents (TM6, copy of last 90 days report, etc.) AND a self-addressed reply envelope with the required postage stamp affixed to it up to 7 days after the due date of your 90 days report. I have done that too in the past, although never late, but it takes a bit longer to get the confirmation letter.

As a last resort you can also pay an agent to do the job, but it is really fast and easy just to do it online.

  4. 1. Make sure that they cannot get out of your garden, especially if there are other dogs in the streets.

    2. Of course they should be vaccinated (rabies, etc.), but also give them monthly prophylaxis against heart worms (mosquito borne) and ticks. Both heart worms and tick fever are deadly. 'Nexguard' chewing tablets protect them from both heart worms and intestinal worms. 'Heartguard' works only against heart worms. You can get them in pet supply shops or from the vet.

    3. If you intend them to guard your house against unwanted intruders, it is safer for you (and them) to stay indoors at night.

Good luck with the new additions to your family ????

  5. I never tried to give soy milk to my dog, but if I feed him cow milk, he gets diarrhoea. However, when he drinks goat milk, which he does on a daily basis, he is fine. His vet told me that goat milk is easier for dogs to digest because the molecules are much smaller, and it contains less lactose.

Soy is apparently safe. It is actually an ingredient in many pet foods as a source of protein, but at he same time it is also one of the top food allergens in dogs. It should therefore be avoided if the dog has food allergies.

  6. There are some restrictions on blood donors, e.g. they do not accept donations from persons, who have lived in Europe  during certain periods:

"Never resided in England between 1980-1996, for an accumulated total of 3 months or more. Or residing in a European country during 1980-present for cumulative duration of 5 years."
