  1. Just rotating new face into the old chain of cash disbursements,

with a token nod to morals and law enforcement as the new lists come into force,

and new faces take over pre-warmed seats,

It would be funny if you could give these beurocrats ever thing they ever wanted ,legaly and financialy , All markets and streets void of individuality, only the ones who can afford to pay the price can sell the over priced goods, As the plastic surgeons walk up and down the stalls collecting there weekly payments, And the beurocrats with tightend ballon skin and belly buttons under there arm pits, Now turn on each other with hat pins.

  2. Oh finally a good news! i was so concerned about going out at night time (but even during the day for that matter), knowing that i might eventually came across one of the very feared "overstayers" , i can cope with almost any sort of issues or dangers, but having to deal with a man/woman which is not a "quality tourist" is already bad enough, leave alone someone which break this vital law! is just too much, nevermind the killers, scammers, abusers, cheaters, thiefs around us, the constant chronic break of safety standards and human rights, etc.., go and get the overstayers that's the real crime in this country, the main priority for the resolution of all major problems affecting the country for sure, thank you amazing Thailand! :D

Absolutly Right On! Forget the Mafia in Pataya and all the convicts who have allready been arrested here, for robing and then there let back in again to do the same thing again. Why bother! you need to get your arrest quota up, let the mountain come to Mhuhamid Or whatever is name might be.

  3. If your in Kan then Mae Sot is an excellent crossing point.

Unfortunately as Gotlost says this crossing has been closed for several months but will hopefully reopen after the Burmese 'election' in early November.

Wifey and I usually make a long weekend of the trip as it's a really nice area to visit too.

Burmese immigration want 500bht in exchange for their entry and exit stamps.

Sounds like a plan! thanks ,
  4. You are not reading the correct instructions. On the Embassy website (Passports ) click applyiny in Thailand and that opens a page thats says Bangkok does not renew passports any longer( unless damaged stolen etc.) Then follow the instructions.

You only send a copy of your passport to HK

No you do not need your birth certificate.

Make sure you comply exactly with the photo requirements.

About 10 working days from reports I have read.

Hi ! So firstly where and what is HK? secondly If I got you right you go to this HK web site down load a form and send it along with specific sized photos a photo copy of youre old passport and some cash i should think, And then just wait here for them to send it back with all the old visas still intact ?

Sounds a bit to good to be true somehow,Would have thought there would be some sort of come back behind these big metal gates in a week when we've got youre new one so we can cut up youre old one.?

  5. A few years back, I gave it a try. Gave the Thai immo people a good laugh when they asked what country I'd been in and I said, "Limbo."

Didn't work then, won't work now. You've gotta cross over and get the in/out stamp from another country.

Thats what i needed some one who gave it a go but to no avail, even though the word Limbo and Lao are similar.

Ok well Thats another bright idea down the tube, How much cheaper is it to do it in Cambodia?

  6. If I get a non immigrant 0 and have to leave the country every 3 months is checking out at friendship bridge then turning straight round and coming back in again enough?

Or do i have to pay the 2000baht or so and enter Lao for twenty four hours before returning?

Lao is a lovely place but I've been there so many times now and you cant say the capital is cheap these days.

  7. Hmm, why don't you get a 1 year multi entry non-O visa from Hull? You have to do a border run every 90 days but it is good for nearly 15 months in the country.

Other options - retirement extension (over 50's) - requires 800k in Thai bank (or equivalent monthly income); married extension requires 400k in the bank (or equivalent monthly income).

The visa company in Bangkok were telling you BS and probably trying to get their hands on your 2m baht!

I think you may have a point, I feel the non imm O is the way to go, To be honest there is no way that they would get me to put any amount like that in a bank here, It was just a question to find out if it got you a Visa , If it did after that i would have said" well its just as good were it is as it is here",so how much do you want?

Which is what it all boils down to realy .

  8. 2 million baht does not qualify you for any visa. They might be talking about setting up a Thai company, but you give little details to know for sure.

Regarding Hull you can just download the forms from their website and all the information is in there.

    Are you over 50?

No 44! The Chap at the vias place just said " the Thai authorities just want to know you have enough money to look after youreself"

I had and have no intenshion of asking him to do it for me it's just I thought he must have been talking about one of the downloads from hull... Which one?

he never said anything else realy, I suppose not before i signd on the dotted line.

  9. Well thanks to this site I've realised how simple it seems to get a type O Visiting friends visa, However as i'm off to Blighty anyway and would like to get as much out of the trip as i can, What more would i need to apply for a yearly visa?

Last year i went to a Visa company in Bangkok and for 15000 baht they said if I put 2 million baht in a thai bank ac they would get me a yearly visa that could be just stamped and renewed every year, However since then I've heard that the money doesn't have to be in a Thai bank just proof that you have it is enough.

So If this is so which form do I down load and so on ?

  10. I would apply in Hull, not the embassy in London, which you can do by mail. All the paperwork you need you can download from their website.

Easiest is the non-O based on visiting friends. You just need to supply the name and address of a friend in Thailand.

So can i just use the Thai whos got there name on the same property as me? So That and what else? Visiting friends type O ,proof of 400,000 baht or 800 in a Thai bank and thats it ? It sound to simple

  11. Thai Consulate Hull

Apply by post . Passport returned to you within a week.

    No bank statements are needed.

Thanks for the prompt reply! So! If They don't need bank statements what is it that gets me the visa? The "Yellow Book" or do i say im visiting friends or do i just put the name of the Thai person who owns the house with me and send in some photo copies of all the ownership papers etc, Basicly what form and what do i say after I've down loaded it. I'm starting to think that there's more than one type O form if you get my drift. cheers

  12. I am 44 and have a full uk passport and am living here in thailand on toursits visas, I have a yellow book proof of ownership of my house(?), I have 800,000baht in an account elswere and have the bank statement to proove it , I have about 400.000 baht in my Thai bank acc. When i go to the uk visa office in londod next week do i need anything else to get a non imigrant O? (appart from a photo)
