  1. What happens with me... I have an Non-Immigrant "O" (retirement)-visa incl. an multiple re-entry visa. I noticed it last time already but want to share this with you. When back from Malaysia last january 2014 the immigration officer put at the stamp that I was admitted to stay in Thailand till 14-12-2014 (till this date my present visa is valid). Normally they write in the stamp the date when I need to leave Thailand again (another 90 days). Now this morning I came back from Singapore and again they write in the stamp they put in my passport "admitted until 14-12-2014" ??? so I asked the officer at once... why not the date 90 days further. Answer? Oh you don't have to leave Thailand anymore with this visa every 90 days??? The point is that I don't believe this explanation, because I can not find anything in the website of Immigration. Does anyone else face the same? I want to contact Immigration one of the coming days, because in a sudden matter I don't trust Immigration. Can you imagine I stay longer then 90 days? no way... but perhaps someone knows the answer.

  2. What a great information. Yesterday I went to the Chevrolet dealer and want to get a price for my Suzuki Swift. GLX-version in Boost Blue Pearl Metallic from January 2013 with 24.000 km. Price 559000 baht. I need some more space, so that's why my walk to Chevrolet. He starts to call with the traders and came back to me. First he start with.... wrong color and wrong car! There we go again I thought and then he said that many cars where bought under the first car scheme from last year so that will reduce my price. But then he starts talking about the lousy quality of the car and he wasn't sure if the car don't get body problems in a later stage. He show me some paperwork from a Suzuki club where I could read the problems they faced with the Swift. He also show me some fax papers from traders they send among them where to look at the Swift. Indeed in the rubber areas, the hoods and under the carpets. Finally Sell the car youhe could give me a price of 275000 baht and when I order at once the Sonic Sedan LTZ he could give me a extra of 25000 baht. So that ends at 300000 baht. My car shows no corrosion at all but the Swift reputation is already not good.

Sell the car yourself even if you drop the car 25% it should sell for that, its still a popular car & giving you 100,000 baht more in your pocket to boot...

all top model swifts (1.2) on taladrod have an asking price over 400K. Dealers always give a crap price for trade in but 300K is ridiculous. Dealers don't care if the car 'might rust'. They are going to sell it anyway. You got done.

The price on Taladrod is what you (as owner) likes to get for your car, which will not mean you ultimately will get that price. Did you also see on Taladrod how long the cars are there on sale? says enough I should think. Eventually it's always a luck when you get the price you like to get for your car :)

  3. Geratul - I checked my car today - no signs of rust or corrosion anywhere. I guess it must have been one of a bad bunch. One area that might rust is around the rear hatch seal, as the rubber is tight up against the metal. I didn't see any problem there but will keep an eye on it. What other car did you end up buying now?

Culicine, I'm very happy to hear that you don't face the rust problems and let's hope it stays away. As said before every car is a mass producted item, so it can always happen. Nevertheless when you read the thai ownersclub they already mentioned about the rust problems from the Swift, so I'm not the only one. Some members face rust under the matress and also under the door rubbers. I bought my Swift because I really liked the car and needed to wait a terrible 7 months before delivery. And then you got this! I was really shocked, I could really break of some metal because it was completely rusted. My friends face the same problems with rust so keep an eye on it. The most terrible is the Suzuki organization who keeps very long quiet. Till now no sign of life from them, but for me it's ok, I sold it and I can start with a new car. I ordered the new Toyota Yaris and when everything is good I will get it delivered this week already.

Culicine, I wish you good luck and many safe kilometers with your Swift but keep an eye on it.

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on it. Good luck with the yaris too. The toyota service should be ok. I found the paint to be a bit thin in some parts of the brio/mirage, so check on that. The paint was also think in the swift, ut that was in the trunk and not exposed on the outside or in the engine bay.I'd also suggest you get some extra chassis coating or some extra rust proofing too on your new car. Can never be too careful with these cheaper cars.

Has in my point of view nothing to do with thin paint or a cheap car. When you look to the paint of for instance a BMW you will be surprised also. 2 of my colleagues have a Nissan March from 2011 and 2012 and also no problem at all. 1 of my colleague owns a Mitsubishi Mirage from 2012 (lives in Phuket) and also no problem at all and they are absolutely not car-washers. With other words for them a car is a car and see... not one spot of corrosion. Point is that Suzuki has absolutely a problem in the manufacturing-line. First of all what I hope is that Suzuki will solve it for them selves as it will cost them for sure potential customers. But secondly and more important what Suzuki should do is to come as fast as possible with a decent solution towards its Swift-drivers who face corrosion problems. Because till now Suzuki is quiet, stay quiet and act almost in a way of "it's your problem". Then you ask your self. What does it mean 3 years Suzuki-warranty or 100.000 km ?

  4. Friends in Singapore wont buy a car from Thailand, only if the model comes from Japan. Quality issues have a long history.

Funny, because my friends for Singapore just do buy cars from Thailand due to the fact that they have sudden models Thailand which can not be bought in Singapore. It's all about taste and in my point of view nothing to do with quality. Even in Europe where quality is really a big issue it happens sometimes that you got a car from a reliable brand with quality issues... it's all mass production.

  5. I am surprised by what

    Geratul

    said.

My daughter has had 3 Swifts over 10 years and not one had a speck of rust!

But I did find a web site that showed the Suzuki to be on the 10 worst list.

    attachicon.gifCropperCapture37.jpg

BSJ, don't forget that the car is build in Thailand and I almost start to believe that they have a totally different quality control then cars directly from Japan. Of course I know it sounds silly, but when I see a "Japan-made" Swift, you see everywhere a sticker with "QC by ...." well I don't see it it the cars made in Thailand or India. I never forget that during the time I drove in Europa my BMW, I never face a problem, but I saw also customers with rust problems and we are in this case talking about very expensive cars. So here we have it again.... mass production and when you face it, it's not nice.

The list you show is not a Thai list. Don't mix up a US list with cars in other world regions. You can not compare it at all.

  7. How did you look inside the door rubbers to know there was rust there? Do you mean the rubber seal that goes around the door? I've had mine a year, no signs or rust at all. I'll take another look tomorrow. Do you live near the sea? Parked in the rain a lot?

I saw in that time during my carwash (which I do always myself) that the rubbers around the door looked not good tight, so I pulled open the rubbers why it didn't fit so nice... and there the corrosion was. I don't live near the sea... just in downtown Bangkok and my house carpark is inside, so it's always parked outside the weather. Besides, even when I parked near the sea or in the rain it can not be that a new car from 2013 corrode away with the quality of cars nowdays. I think only that Suzuki don't follow up the news about rust-protection.

Of course (and I hope) that not everyone have the same problem as me and my 2 friends, but Suzuki has a real problem that's a fact and that's also what you hear from the 2nd hand car dealers, who said to me that Suzuki had a lack of quality and that's why a very low rest price. It can always happen because it's all mass production, but what's me irritate is the way Suzuki deals with it's customers. They let me wait for 2 months and still no answer even as my 2 other friends with different dealers in Bangkok.

Pity for Suzuki that they will destroy their own market by the way they act.

  8. Today I sold my Suzuki Swift GLX in White Pearl from February 2013 due to..... rust! indeed... rust! In less then 1 year I looked under the door rubbers and found lots of corrosion. Not only the paint was gone, but also some metal was already broken off the car. I was really shocked and asked at once my 2 friends who also have the same car from March 2013 in blue and black.. also corrosion under the door rubbers and under the hood. When I bought the car I asked the dealer if they don't have an extra anti-rust program which I always had with my former Honda. No they said, no need to. Suzuki offers already enough rust-protection. Yeah sure :)

Well, this happened almost 2 months ago. Of course I called my Suzuki dealer and they invite me to come and let them check. When I arrived they took away the rubbers of all 4 doors and indeed... all show lots of corrosion. They took pictures and would send it to the warranty department. Well, I called them a few times how the progress was and they could not tell me anything accept that they send it to the warranty department. Wow, they still could not inform me after about 2 months what will be done with a very young car? This is really lack of service because they all could see that the metal is totally rusted and at some places broken off. Well at least I can see that Suzuki have a really quality control-problem.

I already solved actually their problem by selling my car, but I informed the new owner. He was already aware about the corrosion problems because he looked at many websites about the problems of the car. For him not a problem, because he will directly solve it (??) Well I wish him good luck. Nevertheless I almost ask every new Suzuki Swift driver to check at once the door rubbers, under the engine hood and also the fuel tank cover.

When I want to sell the car (price 559.000 + 5.000 for the white color) the normal traders only give around 300.000 - 350.000 baht back due to the fact that they know about the corrosion problems of the Suzuki Swift (!!) and the fact that many cars are sold in Thailand by the "first car scheme". Anyway I sold it by myself and got at least more then what they offered and for me never again Suzuki. For me a real disappointment in terms of quality control which is really 0%.

I order now another new car from another brand which has at least a very good reputation, but I will from now on always check at once my door rubbers.

  9. Well got my white GLX since middle of january 2013. Really a lovely car, nice use of fuel (I use gasohol 95). But I have some little issues. Space is 1! You really don't have any space in the back. Stupid I didn't thought about that earlier, but it's a fact. Whe're with 2, so for us not a big problem, but when family visiting us, it's really a down turn. Getting people from the airport? better ask them to take a taxi, because you can not stall one big size bag. Secondly the comfort on really lousy roads... you can feel the shock breakers are really too short! they are very fast to the maximum and that's what you feel also!

Furthermore really I like the car, easy in use, in parking, in driving... personally I love the CVT in Bangkok traffic and the start-stop button is really nice. When you get the car the dealer explain what to do when the key battery is almost finished and can't start the car. You need to keep the key against the button (1 minute) for some "beaming" and you can still start the car. Of course I still don't have to use this, but he showed me in the showroom and indeed. Well, let's see on longer term :)

We're planning to have a second car and we really love Suzuki, but we need some more space. For the money we are looking to take the Suzuki Ertiga. Well, let's see.

We wish all who has the car already or get the car soon lots of safe kilometers with this really lovely car.

  10. Well I wish everyone good luck with their new car they bought by using the first car scheme. Why not? I mean when you're planning to buy a car and can obtain for this scheme it's a good idea. Everyone has it's own pro's and contra's about the scheme and that's your good right. Point is only... it's there, so use it or not otherwise you're a thief in your own pocket :)

Personally I think (also my right) that it's not good to use a sudden tax-scheme for a car. I said from the beginning of the announcing that it's better to use the money for all the people in Thailand and not only a sudden group. It's not fair in my point of view. Better use it for the terrible infrastructure in Thailand, public transport, parking lots, reducing the pollution and maintaining the lousy roads. Indeed I said also it's always the best to use it for a first house scheme. Then the money will be invested in a house for lengths of years.

Now you need to keep the car at least 5 years and get the tax back in parts. My neighbour told me she will get the total amount of 75.000 baht tax-returns back in 4 terms over 2013 and not at once. When you sell the car earlier, you also need to pay back a sudden amount of the received tax (clearly told by the tax office!).

Last time I hear already that many new owners already have problems with the monthly payments. Well, is that what you want? I ask myself sometimes if the authorities also look if someone is capable to pay the monthly payments but that's not their problem is it?

Nevertheless, to all... enjoy your first car :)

  11. Well, those minivans (and pick ups) think they are always alone on the road. No driving experience, no car control at all, no driving education (what is that?) and absolutely no respect for other cars and human lifes. And since those lovely corrupt Thai police don't do anything then to stop motorbikes for extra money, it will never change. I ask myself sometimes, Thailand have a government, but are they able to direct the police what to do? No, is the answer, because since I live in Thailand I see never a change. So I guess we have to live with those imbeciles on the road.

  12. I stay in Samutprakan and have TOT... lousy connection and internet service. I have now 7Mb and they have a promotion that you get upgraded for the same price to 10Mb. Not here! Reaction? "our capacity is very small, so we can not offer you this..". Why on earth you come then with this promotion?? But ok. Problem is that I'm just 300 meters over the border of BKK and Samutprakan, so other providers don't offer services. Well, typically Thailand. They have some technology, but that's it, otherwise I cancelled TOT already for another provider. Some of them cheaper and offer some more Mb's.

  13. What surprises me the most, is that there was no communication from ToT on their website.

If there is a problem then the most logical thing to do is post a message in Thai on their Website and for my part in Tinglish that the Internet is not working.

But maybe that is just wishful thinking

Yes, it is really logical to post a message on a website that the internet is not working.

If customers' internet is not working, how will they access the website to read the message?

What you think when use 3G? so could still have my internet-connection... so it's really logical ;)

  14. Does anyone know where to go for rust proof in Ladkrabang area? I had a Honda before and indeed the dealer provide Premium, but now I don't drive a Honda anymore at once you almost not welcome anymore at Premium, unless you drive very far to one of their service-centres in the middle of Bangkok. Their should be other alternatives nearby Ladkrabang? Hope anyone can inform me. I also read that WowWax provide it, but... also not nearby :(

  15. Typically Iranian-muslim attitude from those "friendly" arabs. He should be "stoned" by the sharia-law. Those people can't do anything in their own country and think they can behave like this abroad. Second point. I read he was drinking in a bar. I hope it's not alcohol :) If so, another point to convict him by sharia-law. I hope they will give him a perfect punishment. 3 months jail or so incl. payments for the medical treatment for the attendant. What a fool!

  16. Some people are talking here and think they have knowledge but actually not!

It's policy of the Thai government to issue only single entry "B" visa's and when you want a "multiple" you need to go to an Immigration Office in Thailand. Why they do like this I also don't know but Thailand change everytime.

For "Sophon" who declares a short reaction into a "discussion", I just got my new retirement visa "O" issued at Cheang Wattana (Bangkok). So it's not an extention, but a new visa! Do your homework better I should say.

Before I had a "B" visa and when you had this kind of visa before, you don't have to leave Thailand anymore to obtain your retirement visa. In my case a new type "O" (retirement) visa and as said not an extention.

    I did my homework perfect!

  17. This morning got a call from my Suzuki dealer to inform me that my car will be delivered at the dealer the coming 2 weeks from now and that the car will be delivered to me in January. I ordered my GLX version in Snow White Pearl the first week of June this year, so in my case 7 month delivery as agreed.

My neighbour went to a dealer last week. When he wants a GLX version he has to wait till november/december 2013! A year delivery time? My god, I will skip in that case for sure. Who likes to wait a year... 7 months for me is already long actually. When he wants a manual he needs to wait 6 to 7 months, because the manuals also got a waiting list due to rising demand.

Really, hope Suzuki can do something about this horroble delivery times.

  18. Banks in whole Thailand are in my point of view totally crazy, because when the manager has a good day, you can open an account. When the same manager had a terrible night you can forget it. Get sick of that attitude. I went to KBank with retirement visa. Can not... other branch, can, but need also "rental-contract"... don't have, because I live with my wife in the same house we bought... problem! solution? my wife wrote a small letter at the bank that she stated that I life on the same address... Oh my god, but have the account. Bangkok Bank (not the most easiest bank)... can! have it also... same with SCB.... can! have now 3 banks with only passport and retirement visa. So know that you have to "shop" at different braches. Don't look too far away from your address, because for forms etc. you always need to go to the branch where you opened the account.

  19. Well I have Bangkok Bank, SCB, KBank and Krungsri. Actually they are safe. I never got a problem. You should ask yourself, why this guy have some many banks, well because of a lack in internet banking by each bank. When try to pay a bill you can not for instance pay your electricity bill with bank A but you can do with bank B. When pay your phone bill. Can not with bank A, B and C but... can pay that with bank D. That's really so strange. When you want to pay a bill you need to look in a kind of list to see if they have a contract with that company. Really to stupid for words. Nevertheless to come back to the issue, don't worry... it's safe and the only thing I can advice, have always a good internet protection on your laptop. Good luck in using your internet banking.

  20. It's so personal, some like to pay themselves and some like to have a insurance. For me it's important, because I'm still healthy but when you got something, just like my friend unexpected with his heart, he got the hospital bill for THB 578,000 without all the test which still has to come. So I should say, decide your self.

Anyway, I looked into it... actually you can find most of the insurance companies by a search-engine and most of them have the information in English. They show the different packages and what's covered. I know it's not the most pleasand activity, but I think it's important enough. Eventually I choose Thai Health Insurance. Not the cheapest but also not the most expensive one. I pay for my package (in- and out patient) THB 16,000 per year (I'm 51 y/o). By the way, I contact them directly and took the policy online. I checked also with a broker and they charged me THB 22,000 per year. So direct contact saves me THB 6,000.
