  1. The Beatles send it best ...

    Paper back writer (paperback writer)

Dear Sir or Madam, will you read my book?

It took me years to write, will you take a look?

It's based on a novel by a man named Lear

And I need a job, so I want to be a paperback writer,

A three post troll, needs to vent,

    1. Peruse daily news clippings, choose topic for short story, a fire will do nicely,

    2. Throw in some heroics, saving cats good,

    3. Needs more punch, add sick kid,

    4. Need villain, make slum-lord Indian,

    5. Need catchy graphic for avatar, submit,

    coffee1.gif

Sukhumvit, Soi 12 near the Ramada Hotel

Care to meet me and take a tour of my apartment, meet the sick kid, or the rescued cats; and oh yeah, did I mention that I also have two rescued dogs?

Or do you prefer to hide behind your anonymity? Or perhaps you are you afraid of meeting someone on a crowded street? You can bring along a friend if that would make you feel safer. I will even pm you my mobile number.

Just think, you can be the hero of Thai Visa for being the first one to actually meet and oust a so called "Troll".

I am making this easy on you; don't disappoint everyone here.

And "yes" I am "Diesel St. John"

  2. We all shake our fists in the air and shout indignantly that "No woman deserves to be raped!" However, if we find out that the woman was drunk, dressed provocatively or out walking alone in the middle of the night we all think the same thing. Perhaps Benjamin Franklin says it best; “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

...what's the same thing we all think..? Because if it's along the lines of that other poster who was writing about how the girls paint themselves to look "like a glowing slut" then I can assure you, I'm not thinking the same thing. If we're all thinking that someone's condition and dress sense is should never be seen as an invitation for aggressive sexual behaviour from others, then yeah, I'm on-board with that.

On a side note there's a weird undercurrent to some of these posts, that poor men can't really be blamed because the Jezebel is dressed up too provocatively. blink.png

Your statement would be one hundred percent correct if we lived in a utopian society; but unfortunately it has no place in the "real world". Persuading women that it is perfectly in their right to dress or behave anyway they want is not only naive, it is setting them up to become victims.

  3. With my medical contacts and knowledge being limited to emergency medicine, I desperately need some help in finding a doctor in Bangkok who is able to perform a U.S. Social Security Disability "Consultative Exam" and fill out very simple forms that are made up of mostly check boxes (you do not need to be a brain surgeon to fill them out). The doctor(s) need to be able perform a cursory mental and/or physical exam based upon the questions on the forms. Please read the "Background Info" below.

If anyone knows of a doctor(s) or needs more information, please leave me a post or private message me.

Thanks ahead of time to all that can help!

    Background info:

This exam is needed for my daughter, who is severely disabled by a crippling disease in order to receive benefits for advanced treatments for her condition. Her current attending doctors refused to fill out the forms them out because they say they do not understand them. I was referred to two other doctors at the same hospital who agreed ahead of time to complete the forms. After several visits to them and about 50,000 baht later they are still refusing to fill out the forms. The doctors claim they need to run the exact same tests that were just done by original doctors at the hospital and of which they have records of. In other words, the doctors are just running up the bills and needless to say, none of them are no longer treating my daughter.

  4. A man sees a snake lying frozen on the ground and picks it up and takes it home. He wraps the snake in blankets and warms it up by the fire trying to keep it from dying. The snake slowly comes back to life and then turns to the man and suddenly bites him. The man gasps in shock and asks the snake in disbelief why would he bite him after all he did to save him? The snake replied "You knew I was a snake when you picked me up".

In other words, it is the nature of the animal...a dog bites, a cat scratches, an elephant stomps, etc. and it is unfortunate that we have to be reminded in ways such as this that all animals are still wild at heart.

~Through the unfathomable darkness of tragedy, a little light escapes and hopefully it finds its way to keep another at bay.

all animals are still wild at heart.

Humans are animals too and with the amount that we kill of our own kind I'd say we are pretty wild at heart also.

BRAVO! I was wondering if someone would pick up on that...Humans are naturally wild and unpredictable animals, and what makes it worse, is unlike our four legged friends, they have they ability to manipulate and decieve; thus making them the most dangerous animals on the planet.

  6. Unfortunately most people never think about how dangerous riding a motorcycle really is. No matter how long or how skilled of a rider you are (myself included), you cannot control the actions of the people sitting behind the wheel of a 4000 pound (approx.1800 kg) vehicle.

Insurance coverage issues set aside; I hope Sean really understands how lucky he is to be alive and not being shipped back home in a box. I do wish him a heart felt speedy recovery and applaud the anonymous benefactor for being a true humanitarian (which the world needs more of)!

  7. Wow, BJ, seventeen. I understand now the use of "Big" in your user name. Big hearted. Always happy to see others looking after homeless little puddin' pies. I once heard that God created the cat so that man can pet the tiger. Doesn't seem so far fetched to me.

I'll have to ask the little woman about the cost of neutering but from what I recollect it wasn't nearly what you have paid (you should negotiate a discount for quantity laugh.png ). But I would be willing to take the little guy in for neutering and shots if that would secure him a home.

    Cheers,

    Tip

Thank you Tippaporn for your kind post!

It is unselfish caring people as yourself (and the others here who have positively replied to this post) that keeps me from completely giving up on the human race.

  8. While you are looking to find a home for the cat, it would be wonderful if you can take him to be neutered and vaccinated. I pay between 2800 to 3800 baht per cat, (I have a feeling I am paying too much); but having him fixed and vaccinated will help you find a home for him much easier.

I would take him, but I already have nine cats that I have rescued and two of the cats were pregnant bringing my grand total of cats to a whopping seventeen!!

Good luck in finding him a good home!

  9. They're only "victims" of their own greed and stupidity.

Anyone who gives brass to some anonymous bloke who just calls you out of the blue deserves little sympathy...

    I agree with HeavyDrinker's post.

Unfortunately, it seems that these victims have never heard of the saying "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is". But greed is a powerful motivator which can affect the average person's logic and reasoning and henceforth they become "victims" of their own making. For example; if a gun was held to someone's head, the motivation to give up their money is obvious; yet when someone willingly hands over their money with deluded visions of dollar signs in their eyes, then the only motivation is greed. As for the problem with scam artists and conmen, the solution is simple; get rid of the "greedy fools" and they will no longer be a problem.

  10. Writing down or texting the taxi plate/license numbers is always advisable, but it is only useful for after an attack. I have educated my daughter to always sit directly behind the driver to keep out of his reach and it makes it harder to grab her if she has to jump out of the cab.

If she is in eminent danger and unable to get out of the taxi; she is in a position to use her stun gun directly to the back of the attackers neck which is very effective. Of course there is the possibility the car could crash, etc., but it is preferable to being raped and possibly tortured to death.

Just a quick note; stun guns are legal in Thailand; Tazers are not (they are the ones that shoot out electrodes). They do work, as I have had opportunity to use them many times over the years back in the States. They cost around 800 to 1500 Baht and use 9 volt batteries that should be replaced monthly.

I am sure there are people that are going to debate the use of stun guns; but when it comes to trying to protect your wife, girl friend or daughter when you cannot be there, it may be the one thing that helps them get away to safety.

By the way, the best way to so see if the stun gun you are looking to purchase works is try it out on an unsuspecting passer-by; an obnoxious tourist or backpacker is preferable. JUST KIDDING! ( well, kind of. giggle.gif )

  11. Western jeans are cut for women with hips and butts, versus the ones made for Asian women who have a slim boyish figure. If your wife is looking for western cut jeans, MBK does carry several brands such as "Miss Sixty" and "Apple Bottom Jeans" (my favorite) which is tailored to fit women with a small waist and ample lady lumps. If she just wants an American designer pair then go to Siam Paragon or Emporium (as everyone else before me has suggested). Good luck.

  12. This is gonna be sweet, but I didn't even know there was a "Thai motorcross scene". I posted a while back about where to ride motocross in Thailand and no one ever replied. Ahhh!! It just came to me why no one replied...it's 'cause I'm a girl! giggle.gif

Its not huge, but I went to the local races acoupla months ago. In the boonies. Some semi? pros were there kitted out, but also guys in flannies and Dunlop volleys, no gloves. They were still racers though, I think prizemoney in one class was 10k baht but didn't hang around for the prize giving. I've seen a few tracks around in other places.

I hope they can carry this off OK I will make the effort to come down for sure

I used to ride AMA (not WMA) Class A, so nothing could ever compare to that experience, but it would be fun to race again before I slip into my twilight years of mediocrity. So It looks like I'm gonna ship my bikes over from the States, dust off my pink helmet and up my medical insurance!

  13. I have taken the train from Bangkok to Penang, KL to get a "Type O" visa which had to be obtained before my children and I were able to piggy-back off my spouse's retirement visa. The train is a rough ride (especially for 22 hours) but the countryside was beautiful, and the people we met were fascinating and friendly which made the trip priceless and well worth it. Unfortunately, my spoiled American children were not too thrilled with the lack of first class accommodations and private bathroomsrolleyes.gif

Just a suggestion...you might want to check out the internet for deals to Singapore; I have gone over there a couple of times and it was cheaper than taking the train to any border. You can go there and back in half a day and then avoid the hotel costs to stay overnight. Also, you will be able to get a 30 day extension vs. only 15. With visas, there is always something that can go wrong (which I know from experience) and it would be good to have an extra couple of weeks.

The bus is always a good option; I have done the run to the Cambodian border a couple of times with a bus company that handles everything for you. They are wonderful people; the drivers were alert and careful and they were also quite knowledgeable when it came to any type of visa. In fact, they were they only ones who told us how to obtain our visas when everyone (expats and Visa companies) said that it was impossible for my children and I to get a visa based on my spouses retirement. The round trip takes about 10 hours and I think it was about 1900 Baht which was all inclusive of the fees, including the Cambodian side.

One more option I know of is to go to immigration and pay 1900 Baht to get a 7 day visa extension without even leaving Thailand, but that is a one time shot. Of course, this time frame may not work out for you.

Hope this helps...I know what it is like trying to figure out all the options while trying to get your visa.

    Good luck!

  14. The Emergency people will have to depend on booze to help them to face all those unsightly accident rescue mission.

Unfortunately, I have been coerced into volunteering as a medic for Songkran...again. If I knew they could enforce the alcohol ban from 2 to 5 then that is when I would work; but then I would so miss being harassed, groped, and thrown-up on by the drunks. Of course, let's not forget the all mangled bodies covered in blood and guts due to drunk driving accidents that would be permanently burned into my brain.

By the way, alcohol would not even put a dent in dealing with the trauma and crap I will have to deal with.

  15. I have a street dog and cat. The dog I found when he was a puppy and the cat was an injured kitten lying next to the highway. Both have cost me many trips to the vet but are 100% ok now. cool.png

I will take more when the situation calls for it.

(I am not saying I agree with Belg)

That is so great to hear!! The world needs more people like you who unselfishly do what they can because it is the right thing to do.

It is unfortunate that there are those who hide behind a facade while they justfy the injustices against nature because they they are emotionally and inhumanely unable to focus on anything else but themselves. Of course, these are usually the same people who expect everyone else to jump up to their rescue if they are ever in trouble.
