It's always good to have at least 20K cash on you, regardless what you read on certain websites.
.....
Makes me wonder: Has there ever been a case where someone (with a history of stay in Thailand on TV and/or 30 Day Stamps) has been apprehended at Immigration, questioned about their motives and way of living, and accepted into Thailand AFTER showing the 20000 Baht (or equivalent) cash?
I heard lots of stories where people were denied entry that were able to flash the banknotes. Starting to assume that being in possession of funds matters not at all, once the IO made up his mind.

So, in my case (Married to Thai, and holder of WP), am I supposed to simultaneously report and non-report my movements now, under the light of some of the interpretations of this published announcement?

Don't know if this was available earlier here, but when you click at the picture in the immigration Homepage the following "English" text appears:
Immigration office Please release the following news releases.
Foreigners throughout Thailand do not need to notify the change of accommodation.
---------------
Immigration office is concerned and requests for publicity For tourists, business people, investors, teaching and education, sports, artisans or foreign experts that are allowed to enter and stay in Thailand temporarily. If having travel, change accommodation Except Do not notify the authorities
----------------(According to Article 5 of the Police Department regulations Regarding the notification of change of residence Moving Moving Traveling to the province for more than 24 hours and staying in the Kingdom for more than 90 days for aliens who are temporarily allowed to stay in the Kingdom Announced in the Government Gazette, 15 June 1979)
As this mentions also tourists, I am questioning the logic that this (probably) official interpretation of the law does not apply to retirees or married to Thais. The fact that these two categories are not mentioned, means probably nothing. Would not be the first time a rule is published which is not proof read and analyzed for logical completeness.

Using an agent, did you still need to do photos, home visit etc. I have never been able to find an agent that does marrige extensions due to BKK being involved.
I had to provide the usual photos inside and in front of the house.
Other than that, painless.

I have just done my 1 Year Extension based on marriage in Pattaya with an agent. I have both sufficient work income, WP and a Bank Book with sufficient funds, but I prefer to use an agent instead of suffering long queues and indiscreet questioning. I received my One Year stamp, all good, never filed a TM 30 or 28 or 90 Day report ever (Traveling internationally 6-10 times a year and 2 or 3 times a month within Thailand) No issues. In case i have to pay a 800 Baht fine next Year, so be it. Couldn't care less.

You make a lot of assumptions there in that post with absolutely no hard facts or statistics to back up what you believe.
.....
I've done a few runs to Laos and 90% of the visa run company customers are filipino's getting tourist visas. They are not in Thailand as tourists.
You see the irony in your post?

Just wondering if a foreigner landlord filling out and filing the TM30 for a tenant at his rented property is considered working and would require a work permit?

Will Immigration at the airport grant re-entry permits during the 30 day waiting period before an annual visa extension is approved?
My apologies for asking if this has already been covered or is obvious. I've always applied for re-entry permits at Immigration, not the airport. But this time I have to travel during the 30 day waiting period before my visa extension is approved. Given the current all day waits at CW Immigration to apply for annual visa extensions, I don't want to go back a second day just to get a re-entry permit if it can be avoided
I received a Reentry permit during my 1 Month waiting period for One Year extension at Suvarnabumhi Reentry Desk last month without questions or problems.

Thanks For all comments. This morning my application was approved and I’m stamped for another Year.
Still wondering: Is there a route in such cases to cancel the One Year Application and at the same time apply for a 2 Month extension to be with Wife?
Another question: My annual Date is early June each Year, due to some business abroad I usually travel al lot during the June and July period every Year. Is there a way to move this annual routine into another, quieter for me, period? What happens to the Date if I opt for 2 Month at the end of this Period, and apply for 1 Year after that? Would that move me 2 Months forward in the Future? Would I need another Non-O Visa for this?

I think if you are under consideration... you need to pay for a re-entry permit, which is valid for this 30 days. Don't forget them !!!
Maybe I made it not clear:
I am already past the Under Consideration Stamp Date. That was July 4th. Immigration told me they are still waiting for answer from Bangkok. -
After the "Return to IO" on Date?

In your position I would return to Immigration and ask for a 1 month extension due to business travel........it should be possible, but who knows nowadays!
I will go there anyway tomorrow and ask for advice. Just want to know what my options are in case they can't give me this extension?

I have obtained Non-O Extensions in Pattaya for several Years and also hold a WP.
I have applied for extension of Permission to stay in June and received „Under Consideration“ Stamp until July 4th. Went to Immigration to be told Bangkok has not returned the application and I should come back to check again.
So far so good, but:
I need to attend Business Meetings in Bangkok starting this week Thursday, and a 10 Day trip to Philippines starting Sunday 14th.
In case my Extension application is still not finalized today, i have to consider a Plan B.
Is it possible for me to cancel the extension application and at the same time apply for a 60 Day extension to be with my Thai Wife? How long will this take?
Worst case: Leave without Reentry Permit, return with 30 Day Stamp, and start the process again by obtaining a 3 Month Non-O Visa to visit wife? Will Thai Embassy in Manila issue this?
My trips are absolutely necessary and cant be rescheduled.
Still hope my permission will be extended today but I need to consider best options in case not!

On page 2 of this form there needs to be an address entered. Your intended place of stay in Thailand (Pre-booked Hotel or condo?) Or foreign home-address?
-
Done that once. Had some clerk from Priority Desk escorting me to Reentry Desk bypassing all kinds of controls with me behind him. And retour. Made me feel V.I.P.

Doing my marriage extensions in Jomtien now with Agent several Years. Last time i tried on my own, the officer first softly hinted that a contribution of 15000 Baht into his coffer would smooth the proceedings. We (wife and me) decided to not hear it, so he gradually got louder so we had to answer. „Any problems with our application?“ He ran through the paper stable two or three times, and finally came up with „Passport Photo wrong size!“ Needless to say the size matched the requirements given to us in writing, but I decided to open an envelope in my attaché case where i have several recent Passport Photos in all possible sizes, leftovers from several Visa I applied for in the months before. So he now reverted to being unable to read one of my documents ....
Went to my agent next morning and had the „Under consideration“ Stamp the same day, with the same paperwork ...For less money than the „Officer“ requested as bribe.

Been there and will contact them soon. Was jut hoping someone comforts me by saying I dont have to repeat the quest I did a Year and a Half ago. Thanks!

Still hoping to find it, but after unsuccessful searches in all the right and wrong places I have to assume it is permanently misplaced.
Whats the procedure to get a new one issued?
I remember the initial process involved several trips to Bangkok MFA, Embassy, Translators, ... costly and time consuming.PS: I‘m in Pattaya

How long did they give you for your reentry? Exact time of the date you were told to come back? I like your answer. Thnx
Until the report date. That was fine with my travel plans, and i got the final stamp in both cases a few days prior to to this date. Pattaya Immigration

On my last two extensions of my permit to stay based on marriage i applied for and received without an issue a Reentry Permit during my “Under consideration” Period. 2017 at Don Muaeng, 2018 at Suvarnabumhi.

Had a Middle name on my Birth Certificate which is not in my Passport. Needed the Birth Cert to apply for a Yellow Book. My Embassy issued a letter (“To whom it may concern”) stating that according to Austrian law the use of Middle Names is the bearer’s sole decision. Was accepted.

I find it strange that obviously somebody is suggested to lie to Embassy and Immigration. After all, the Person will not enter Thailand with the Purpose of Tourism, but rather to evaluate business opportunities. I understand that these intentions are not strictly forbidden for Tourists on a Tourist Visa, but still ... What would happen if Immigration asks him what he plans to do in Thailand, and he answers honestly "To evaluate business opportunities and negotiate with business owners in Thailand concerning purchase of a business". I guess he could be refused entry answering this way? So the Immigration System encourages people to lie?

Let’s see ....
If I remember correctly, ‘work’ in Thai Law is defined in such a way that payment or any benefit gained (or not) does not matter.
Your friend makes clay pots and donates them to his friends and neighbors -> considered work.
Now, what would happen if he creates the pots and then destroys them? Must still be considered work then!
That now leads to the assumption that pottery by farangs (w/o WP for Pottery) is definitely illegal. Same with all kinds of hobbies.
A crazy world we live in!
