  1. Would I be right in assuming that the Dept of Consular Affairs is one and the same as The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ??? in Chang Wattana Rd. (i need to get some translated documents verified) if it is, are there any outstanding landmarks I could use to find it easily :D Also, what would be the best way to get from the Australian Embassy on South Sathon Rd to the Thai immigration Bureau :D All help appreciated as usual :o

  2. situation of friend. 57 y.o. british subject. living in thailand with thai wife (not registered as yet) previously here on a business visa which expired 6 months ago. has since been doing the monthly shuffle across the border (cambodia) he would like to register the marriage and apply for extension (support of thai wife) he does not want to return all the way to england to get a non imm o visa. question: which would be the best country (the nearer the better) to apply for non imm o visa? or to put it another way, which country would be the easiest to get one? :o any info, as usual, greatly appretiated :D

  3. I will be marrying my Thai GF on 18 Jan 05. :D I intend to return to Australia (alone) On 1 Mar 05. (for 3 weeks only) I have a non-imm O multiple entry visa good to Aug 05. I intend to register marriage in early Feb 05. I imagine that I will still be "Under Consideration" when I go back to Aust in March. QUESTION: will I to apply for a RE-ENTRY permit to prevent application for "non-imm married to thai visa" having to start again? or will my current multiple visa suffice for this trip? If not, how, where and how much for re-entry permit. Any info: greatley appreciated :o

  4. On a recent trip to Australia i had my yearly check-up. including the normal set of blood tests. unfortunatley, my previous immunization for hep A was only marginal. my doctor suggested getting the hep A and B Twinrex shots. (3 needles over 6 months) as well as a typhoid shot. Question: are these vaccinations available in Thailand and if so, where and approx cost? I reside in Buriram. Any info: appreciated.

  5. In Australia we have Super Computers that can match data from almost every Government Dept. as well as some non Gov Depts (tax office, customs, banks, police, welfare agencies, etc etc) This information tool is used to (supposedly) keep us all on the straight and narrow, stop welfare cheats and make sure the Government dosent miss out on any money. My question is : do Thai Government Agencies such as banks and immigration let other Countries know if 1. a forienger opens a bank account? 2. a forienger marries a Thai national? Please Note: there is no sinister reason for this post, I am only trying to answer friends questions in relation to this subject. Any info appreciated. :o

  6. Hi, I have recently moved to Buriram and I am looking for new or second hand english language books (fiction) I have been all around town and so far had no luck :o Can anybody enlighten me as to if they are available? Or do I have to travel (no problem) to Surin or eleswhere to fulfill one of my favourite pastimes :D Any info appreciated.

  7. lopburi, i will soon be applying for "marriage visa" can i assume from your reply to original post that if i have 400k in my thai bank account already, and then apply for "marriage visa" i would only need letter from thai bank. i also thought the funds had to be transfered from another country. any info always appreciated. :o

  8. In the near future I intend to move to BURIRAM and live with my soon to be Thai wife. Is it possible to report to anywhere else other than BANGKOK for the purpose of re-issue of 90 day non-immigration marriage visa? As is somewhere nearer. I also beleive there is a POSTAL method of reporting??? Any help greatly appreciated. :o

  9. Hi All, there has been a fair bit of talk on this subject of late. I have seen most of the posts but still have the following questions.

    1. If you use an agent to register the marriage, where do you find them? what do they charge? what are they listed as?

    2. does the registration of marriage have to be done in the Amphur in the district that the marriage took place?

Any advice will be (as usual) greatly appreciated :o

  10. Hi All,

after I marry my tgf in her home town, is there a time limit as to when the marriage has to be registered at the local AMPHUR? At this stageI am not old enough to get a retirement visa, and i do need a marriage visa as such, as i go back to Australia on a regular basis (non-immigration O multiple entry) Eventually I will apply for a marriage visa, but it may be a few years yet. Also, at the wedding, is there any documentation required to get married. Any advice please.

  11. Hi All, on the form 48R application to visit Australia, there is a question that asks "have you ever, been convicted of a crime or offence in any country etc etc" Some monthjs ago my TGF was booked by the police for not wearing a helmut on her motorbike. (Which at the time I found hilarious) :o Does anybody think this very minor fine should be declared to Australian Immigration when filling out the application???

  12. Hi All, I would like to bring my TGF to Australia in about 6 months time. I will be back inThailand soon and would accompany her to Australia and then back to Thailand. After reading through the form 48 R (visit aust for tourism) I have come up with one question: If you have to supply your departure and return date, and have proof of health/travel insurance I can only assume that the tickets and insurance must be booked and paid for prior to lodging application. So what happens if that application is knocked back???? It would seem to me that she would then have lost her money?? :o Any advice appreciated.

  13. Hi All, I noticed with intrest the Non-Immigrant Visa Application example form shown on the thaivisa web page. It indicated that the purpose of visit was "Holiday". But reading the requirements for a non immigrant visa, I did not see any listing for "Holiday" ??? I wish to spend as much time as possible in Thailand without doing visa runs. I will not be working. I am an Australian living in Brisbane. Can anybody clear up this abnormality please :o
