'Nothing more than other Countries do' are you kidding? Setting up a Military base is a little different don't you think. Plus, if you actually know anything about China is does actually plan and say it wants to 'rule the world' they're pretty clear about that and these are the steps towards that.
Have you not considered that the US has military bases throughout the Pacific? Why even lowly OZ has military/naval bases in other countries.
You are in Shanghai so I will allow that you know something of China but I worked with the PLA for 6 months and know a little of the Chinese military mind. (18 months all-up in China).
The Chinese do not want to rule the world but, yes, they are working hard to expand their influence wherever they can.

China has been buying interest in the Pacific for years. Nothing more than other countries do.

I think actually it means she was NOT serious about killing herself, only about getting attention. She deserves help and attention, but if she was "serious" about killing herself there would just be one wound and she would have done it alone.
You could well be correct, but I considered that and thought that she might have been inept, or not in a clear enough mind to do it properly. Sure was a lot of blood.

60 stitches, not 60 wounds... But still needs to see a doctor of the head !!
Thanks for that Cornish. I was just reading from the OP but even I thought that was a bit excessive.
The woman received treatment for more than 60 wounds to her neck, arms and abdomen.

60 wounds means she was really serious. Hope she gets some real help.

what a charade, photo op showing the victim , socially constrained to do so, showing a sign of respect to the criminal at the police station
Did you also notice that his wai was higher than hers? No way (hehe) was she showing him any respect at all.

Let them try to ban the AK47s on the South Side . Good luck with that.

People decry the good old cargo pants but those large pockets can fit all sorts of non-metal items, including your cash.

The posters here have more than adequately done good quips in response to the revelation by Dr Obvious.
Anything further from me would be overkill. Well done everyone.

OK, so they know the 7 most speeding highways, but what will they do about it? Nothing is the short answer. Other countries might try flooding these areas with speed cameras and highway patrol cars, but what will thailand do?

Asserted or assured I guess was meant.

More proof that there is, indeed, a double standard.
No double standard demonstrated by these two entirely different cases.
Some fun facts for you:
More blacks are killed by black officers than by whites.
More whites are killed by police than are blacks.

You are absolutely correct that the rental shop should be the first line of defence, and should be held accountable, but we each also need to take responsibility for our own actions and safety. It seems that many people simply do not read their travel insurance documents.

I am one of those that lived there for a couple of years and found it was not for me. No big dramas; no financial ruin from a Thai GF. I just came to the realisation that my life would be more fulfilling in OZ.
I have no regrets about any of it. I have actually lived in 8 countries around the world and try not to dwell on any aspects of my life in any of the places.
I still come to this forum because I still hold an attachment to Thailand, even if it is unlikely that I will ever return.
