There are so many smart people in the world including those that invented plastic in the first place , I do not believe they cannot come up with a suitable biodegradable plastic ....... just laziness & money

but they have , and it just ain't catching on, probably because of the petro chem giants, and their blocking everything environmentally friendly power.

  2. enhance the understanding of foreigners and protect their rights as road users under Thai laws.
What rights do foreigners have have if a druken or yabba fuelled numpty drives into the back of , or pulls out in front of , or turns across the path of a
    n oncoming foreigner? None.

awareness of specific risks on the road unique to Thailand, and recaps on internationally recognised driving standards.
Really? Thailand has the same standards as other international driving standards ? I don'y think so. not when I have observed Thai driving tests .

the partnership has helped kick start three initiatives that include the production of a 45-minute English language instructional video, covering road traffic laws, road usage, techniques for driving safely and driving etiquette. This is a part of the Thai driving test for foreign nationals.
What about the same being applied to Thai drivers then? I didn't do a car driving test as I ahd a UK car driving licence and as it didn't include a motor bike licence ai had to drive a bike around a school yard in the same fashion ( less so actually) than my schoolday cycling profficiency test at the age of 11 years old.

Last year, five per cent of total casework of the Bangkok Embassy’s consular department involved providing assistance to British people involved in road accidents.
What about the other 95%, what about the fact that Rayong is the highest in Thailand for annual road deaths, not so many foreigners there, really??? So it must be Thais who are responsible for figures being so high there.

The top five provinces for road traffic accidents involving British people are Surat Thani, Phuket, Chiang Mai, Chon Buri (Pattaya) and Bangkok.

So, should the drivers post these video clips while driving?

All joking aside, of all the dumb nonsense I've read over the years, this article takes the biscuit!

"Traffic eyes", yet another "campaign", installing cameras to "protect" you and "holding hands"!

The mind boggles under such juvenile, moronic crap.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, will ever change until 1) the police get a good kick up the ar*e and crack down on traffic offenders and 2) harsh(er) fines are handed down to all who ignore the rules of the road.

Campaigns, holding hands, etc. is pointless. The longer they wait to fix this problem, the longer it'll take to actually solve it.

Accidents happen but some accidents can be avoided.

Thinking you should have maybe capitalised "ALL who ignore"...

“If your clips lead to the arrests of traffic law violators for legal action, you will receive a certificate of honour from the first vice NLA president (Mr Surachai) plus a cash reward,” Dr Taejing said.

So the police still sits in their tents and is waiting for video's to be sent to them...they are soo lazy and still get away with it plus paid of course.

But if they are a HiSo caught on camera , it would still be irrelevant anyway...

What happened to Libya?  On the last World Atlas list they had Libya at a rate double that of Thailand's, this time they are not even on the list, and it is only a matter of months between the lists being released, its difficult to imagine that Libya has turned things around so dramatically, seems more likely they have not submitted their statistics and remain at the top.

Maybe there are no cars left to drive in Libya, due to the on going unrest there.

    Brainless individuals??

Why.............because just about everyone who lives here know that the BIB are corrupt, from the shop owners to the beer bar owners who fill the monthly envelopes, to those who have had monetary demands made of them at immigration or who know folk who have, and the cases of others who build on Government land and are allowed to get away with it.

So for those up the chain to express surprise at this event means they think they are fooling the general public by their innocent response BUT they are fooling no-one, however they are stupid enough to think they are. Mindless morons.

Bang on , I reckon.  It is all just a temporary show, basically, in order to remind the less powerful, less influential, lower ranks know where the pecking order begins and finishes.

  7. Indeed, I am sure that is what it means,  but the report says they were arrested based on CCTV, not on 2 people leaving a hotel.

"investigated the scene and applied for arrest warrants based on the hotel’s CCTV footage".  Did the CCTV show any crime being commited, other than leaving a hotel in the early hours.

I am just commenting on the report wording.

Two Cameroon men were arrested on Thursday for allegedly gang raping a Thai woman in a hotel room in Ubon Ratchathani’s Muang district last week.

The 25-year-old suspect identified only as Carauwas was apprehended at noon at a Kalasin school where he worked as an English-language teacher, said Muang Ubon Ratchathani police inspector Pol Lt-Colonel Bowornsak Khamrangsi, who led the operation.

The suspect’s compatriot, William Inkokumokoko, also 25, was arrested later.

The Ubon Ratchathani Court issued arrest warrants for the pair following a 24-year-old victim’s complaint to police on Friday. She said she had gone clubbing on Thursday night and then went to meet Carauwas, her boyfriend of four months, at a hotel room at about 4am on Friday.

Carauwas and his friend were in the room when she arrived. She said the two men raped her and she later was able to push them off the bed and ran out of the room before alerting police at about 5am.

The men had fled the hotel by the time police arrived. Police investigated the scene and applied for arrest warrants based on the hotel’s CCTV footage.

305 baht a day ???  is that in some squalid thai brothel/massage place in the villages out in the sticks?

where are they getting that figure from?

in pattaya soi honey/+other massage parlour areas, gals get 1000 baht for 'full' service +200 for the actual massage

i dont know if the ladies have to give any of their 'service' fee to the boss, but even if they gave 25% of their 'service' payment

2 customers daily would give them 1500 baht a day, in soi chayiapoon ive seem gals get as many as 4 or 5 customers a day

a popular massage lady can get many 'returnees' if they give a good service and earn quite a pocketful of baht a month,

if thai girls go to India they will be pretty desperate as to be frank every thai gal ive ever spoken to, when asked the question

    say they dislike Indian men

Absolutely bang on ,  many Thai bar girls earn far more than a government school farang English teacher.  Where did they get those figures from???

It would be nice but freedom of movement within ASEAN has never been likely.

Think you will find that this was only meant to apply to citizens of fellow ASEAN states, a bit like the freedom of movement, employment and settlement between EU member states.

It still hasn't really happened in the ASEAN states though, as we see with the restrictions of jobs that foreigners can do in Thailand, and trying to transfer money between the ASEAN countries, which can be done, but with difficulty and many restrictions and barriers (stated from my current experience in Vietnam).
