  1. Just goes to how how easily these things can be misconstrued

' Soon, you might even be able to do your immigration check-ins here, according to Chiang Mai's immigration chief '

quote from the article in Citylife, Convenience Culture

  2. The roof is, from the picture, a slate tile roof, the covering looks like a insulative elastomeric acrylic paint, the new ones claim to reflect 90% of solar radiation.

Having seen pictures of Mascara's other dwellings in his earlier posts on this site I must presume that this house is also constructed in an industrial style and probably has no ceilings and that's why there is a large roof ventilator, am i right?.

Always available the next time anyone wants to take their brain cell out for a stroll :-)

  3. I would try the Tops/Waitrose in the basement of Festival Mall, thick cut smoked and unsmoked back bacon and Cumberland sausages with a Waitrose Label exactly the same as sold in the UK

  4. I would think you would have four plasterers because they can complete the same volume of work three times faster

I believe that the Apple project the OP is talking about is probably the recently completed HANA Microelectronics factory in Lampun, a six hundred million baht factory to produce circuit boards for the new iphone.

I know people at this company, if its the same one who built HANA's place, the Architects, Engineers and Designers are all taken from the top few percent of graduates and contrary to one posters suggestion they all speak pretty perfect English, they also have staff who speak French and German pretty well too.

  5. Yes the market in the Festival Mall is excellent, a joint venture between Tops and UK supermarket Waitrose it has a huge selection of European goods. I shopped at Rimping for years but the Festival Market has a better selection and it is also significantly cheaper, especially for cheese, and they even have Kellogs Crunchy Nut Cornflakes.

  6. Pork is so cheap here I cannot believe that someone would compromise on the quality just to save what is literally a few baht. All our pork is purchased from a farm that gets it supply from the villagers, the pigs seem to have the free run of the land and when they are slaughtered they are stunned with those electric headphone things first. The farm then hangs the meat in walk in fridges for two days before it goes to be sold. The combination of happy, mostly free range pigs and a couple of days hanging makes a huge difference from the stressed out pigs that provide the meat in many places

  7. NCA to BK is, or was, 800 baht for 1st Class VIP. I have never had a problem with them, leave at 10pm sleep all the way and get into Mo Chit at 6'ish in the morning, short taxi ride to the BTS.

Maybe I am not booking early enough but every time I have tried Lion Air for a flight to BK it has been fully booked, flew to BK yesterday with Thai and it was 1800 baht for the 7am flight, the later ones were considerably more expensive. No, its not a great deal of money but if i don't need to get to BK for business I am just as happy to take the bus.

  8. I need to purchase 8,000 sqm Malay Grass, the price seems to fluctuate a fair amount, can I get some advice as to the best place to buy price wide and quality wise. Also I need someone, who knows what they are doing, to lay it so i presume that will come from the same shop.

I have been to the grass shop in Camtien near Tesco Lotus and they were talking 22 baht per sqm which seems a little expensive after Jip99 saying his was 18

  9. I am halfway between Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai and the smoke up here is some of the worst I have seen. I have been unable to see even across to the other side of the rice fields behind my house. I took a scooter ride to the village on the other side of those rice fields and I was unable to see my house so I am living in the middle of it. At night you can see the fires all across the mountains where they are burning. If the winds are right Chiang Mai is going to get a lot worse over the next few weeks.

  10. Pears soap is not tar based, the soap that contains tar is called Wrights Coal Tar Soap an antiseptic that I have yet to find in Thailand. there are several antiseptic soaps available here but whether they, or tar soap, help prevent perspiration i don't know
