  1. I know everybody probably got bored of this.

I was in Classic this week for a breakfast pattie but mainly to scrounge off their great internet connection.

Whilst I was there a large stainless steel meat mincer was delivered shortly followed by what looked like a good portion of cow in one piece. The guy, who i presume is the owner, said that they were going to make their own burgers from scratch including mincing up the meat. He said they were using

Rib Eye steak and following advice from Heston Blumental.

Personally I think they opened five years too late as there are burger places everywhere in Chiang Mai now but if his aim is to produce the best burger in CM he seems to be going the right way about it.

By the way, I asked, he is from Hawaii

  2. yes I ate there this week and would agree that is is nothing to write home about. I saw no air conditioned area either, both sides appeared to be open to the elements.

Steak of the Day or the excellent pizza place with the pool table at the bottom of the plaza are both far superior

  3. Sorry if this has already been mentioned buts its past midnight and I cannot be bothered to read all the previous threads.

came acrosss Classic Burger the other night, Soi 9 Moonmuang just before Riders Corner. Though the burger was pretty ok but found the fries

amazing, they actually tasted like potato rather than just some crispy thing. Prices are stupidly cheap and I wonder how long they can keep that up.

Also noticed they have a proper flame grill not a hot plate like most other places

  4. I must say that I have lost interest with the Loh Kroh and the boxing ring area.

Oxide, the place opposite, Cha Cha Bar and Turn up all have pretties, ok maybe they are not going to sit on your lap and rub your bits but at least you can go home with most of your wallet intact

  5. I too have been having problems with my live in helper. About a year ago some Thai friends in Bangkok asked if I could help their 19 year old daughter, see is studying law at CMU and wanted to save on accommodation fees. She has been with me a year now cleaning, cooking and generally looking after the house but the situation is getting silly and she has to go. She has long dark hair down to her waist and is incredibly beautiful, She cleans the house in micro skirts and 6 inch high heels

and thinks it funny to bend over in front of me to pick things up off the floor. Over the last 6 months or so she has taken to leaving the bathroom door unlocked and telling me not to worry if I walk in on her when she is in the shower, she has even taken to hanging her impossibly small underwear to dry over the bath. The last straw has been that she is experimenting with her sexuality and now has a girlfriend from the university who often stays over, several times I have walked in on them on the sofa in the sitting room but they carry on as if I am not there. Obviously she has to go but how can I do it without upsetting her parents?

  6. Cuisine De Garden looks interesting and I will give it a try.

The main criticism on Trip Advisor seems to be the tiny portions and although I understand chefs fascination with foams and emulsions I think Duck Breath is one step too far :-) :-)

....................................................."I ordered the duck breath which turned out so incredibly tender." ( Trip Advisor Jan 2015 )...............................................

  7. I think perhaps the British should organise a 4th July celebration as the day they got shot of the Americans :-)

"And yes all of us Americans remember we whipped the British"...........................................Thanks to the French!

  8. Sometimes I just despair about this forum and the small minded pettiness that seems to be the norm from posters who probably don't even bother to read the posts before they add their three penny worth.

Look, I was 10 MPH over the speed limit and I got caught by a camera speed trap, I had not been drinking, i was not on the phone, I was not driving like a Thai, I was not boasting that I had broken the law.

I just asked if anyone knew where the camera was so that I can ensure that I am driving at a speed to keep you all happy

  9. "So many of you complain about the standard of Thai drivers and now this knobhead wants to know where the camera is so he can avoid it"

I want to know where the speed camera is so that I can ensure that I am complying with the law.

The funny thing is that I am more disappointed with the suggestion that my standard of driving may be on par with the Thai's than your unnecessary use of unwarranted descriptive.

  10. Thank you, I thought it may be near the weigh station.

Whilst I do not consider 85 mph to be particularly fast on that stretch, about 15 mph over the speed limit, which has virtually no connecting roads and is a two lane highway, I rarely exceed 80 KPH from before the Doi Saket junction of death all the way into Chiang Mai. Considering how often I get overtaken by Thai's, often in vehicles that should not be on the road, I would have to consider myself one of the slower drivers traveling from CR to CM but thank you for all the comments from you conscientious posters who never, ever exceed the speed limit :-)

  11. Just received a speeding fine in the post.

I got caught for the first time traveling at 136 kph along the 118 towards CM by a camera somewhere in Doi Saket.

Whilst the 400 baht fine will not break the bank I would like to avoid another one in the future.

Does anyone know EXACTLY where this camera is please
