  1. Yeah no doubt about it rental prices are being pushed up on the 'bright side' due in main to lang over paying. OP Try the soi's off soi Chayada (heading to sukhumvit from beach rd on pattaya tai take the last left before third rd)

should be around 7K-10K. Also soi arunotai soi's 7 9 and 11. I pay around your price range for a 2bed 1bath thai kitchen tv room carport my neighbours opposite pay 5k for a 2bed 1 bath thai kitchen tv room and carport, to my left they pay 4k for a 2bed 1bath tv room, there is a little house going for 3k 1bed 1 bath living area (bigish building split into 3 units).

  2. Reward Account is 12.5 a month though yet seems to be about the best deal right now, almost the TT rate + what the Thai bank charge.

Bangkok are imo the best for passport Debit card combo K-Bank 20k max so waste of time, but this is a costly way of doing it LLoyds charge 4.50 plus 1.5b off the bank rate 4 percent off the TT rate fowl :bah: LLoyds charge a whopping 28-30 pounds for a swift transfer amd still rob you on the ex rate. So yeah at the moment HRA is just about the best if that is you ensure 1k is paid in every month.

Without question the Mafia Banking cabal are the biggest scam artists on the face of the globe. Hifx is worth checking out.

"Britain's banks are set to pocket around £1billion in profit every single week this year while ordinary families bear the brunt of the deepest public spending cuts in decades. Between them the UK's top five lenders are expected to earn £51.7billion in 2011, or £200million for each working day, according to City estimates. At Britain's two state-owned banks Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds, both of which had to be bailed out at huge cost to the taxpayer profits are predicted to more than "Read more: http://www.dailymail...l#ixzz1ACGc5gE0

Peaceful Protest is beyond insignificance, marching from set A to set B and returning home for tea at 5pm simply will not leave the establishment quaking in their boots. The Gandhi quote of sustaining clearly holds relevance but there must be a line in the sand. I to feel as many others have stated that this is merely the start; winter of discontent will evolve into the worst depression on record. Understand, once you have removed yourself from the box chain of thought it becomes child's play to dissect the corporate mainstream media, but for those who have spent decades feasting into the buffet of lies and set programming, have very much self invested into the system. These youngsters must be applauded, I for one had come to the conclusion people were entranced by entertainment saturation and consuming, the social disintegration. Now the touch paper tuition fee hold's some relevance to a certain age group but needed is an appeal to the masses. In the first six months of 2010, the debt interest payments were £21.6bn. We're well beyond the point of no return, the only out available is to forcibly destroy the Central Banks and installing a central sovereign debt free money system. The bank of England is not some wing of the British goverment,it's a privity run organisation/Rothschild banking cabal, who have the 'god' given ability to create Fiat/paper money from thin air, which is loaned to the state/Goverment at INTEREST backed by your taxes. ( sort of on topic!)

  3. I see a glimmer of hope for the young lady who caused the accident. She has a mother who has a lot of courage and a fair amount of compassion.

Come on, I personally think it's all an act. She's just trying to save the family name and 30,000B compensation what a joke. I really do hope this underage teen driver gets what should be coming to her but I highly doubt she'll get in any trouble. Imagine if that was one of you Sons or Daughters who died in such a way and some lady was offering 30,000B compensation. I would through it back in her face.

You are certainly entitled to your own opinion but it shocks my senses that you think so little of your fellow humans to believe this woman doesn't feel awful about the deaths of 9-people who her daughter appears to have been at least largely responsible for. But more shocking is why you appear to want to believe this rather than the logical as this women is losing face big time by doing what she is doing and the article clearly states the offering was "token compensation" and the family member took it ... again, I would put a lot more credibility and care into the victim's family and what the believe than a poster here who seems hell bent on believing the worst in people.

Maybe I wrong but I've lived here long enough (12yrs) to see to many cases like this. Using the big last name as a get out of Jail free card, pay some money for it to disappear, losing face, etc. Maybe she has remorse but the family has lost face because of this and need to regain creditably again and going to these funerals she is trying to do that. I don't agree she is losing face by going to these funerals but she's trying to regain it. Ok some of it for sure is remorse but a lot of it is saving face. Even if the underage driver is at fault there is no way she will get in any trouble. Money, Big Last Name, Military Dad and so on. She has no worries. The police are charging her because of how many people are pissed off over this. If this was in North America she would be in a lot of trouble no matter what. This is my opinion but may not be yours.

I love Thailand but these types of stories really do make me feel disappointed with Thai laws and how things are run here.

The truth is the truth, This Woman is merely out to restore some lost face due to the outburst of anger from the public. The Big Last Name and the connections and money that come with it are what holds power here in Thailand. The remarks after the fatal crash of the vile spoilt vermin show her familys view of the underclass just a few ants squashed, no doubt they can't understand the outcry. Notice how this case has been mainly kept of the mainstream thai news tv. The total arrogance of the family in no doubt buying her that car and allowing her to drive without a licence again show the type of people they appear to be. The so called charges will be dropped there will be no investigation and she will have a new car bought for her and back on the road in no time. Without question she should be looking at 9 cases of manslaughter.

  4. Not a fan of crimbo dinner , I'am getting a Indian take away and bottle black label I have been saving . But after extensive sunday lunch eating at all of the above Queen vic butchers arms tara court ect the Sportsman Soi 13 has by far the best this town has to offer (in the ball-park of English roasts) so I would imagine the Christmas dinner would be the spot on, probably about 950-1000.

Jamesons must have a 500+ percent mark up on there menu 195 for cauliflower chesse dory fish and chips 350 pi** take much like shenanigans dory fish and chips 360b fried rice or phad thai 160b do like the the all day breaky washed down with black stuff even though the check bill is about 600 ;)

  5. I must say the Chippie has sometimes been good for me (a little inconsistent) but the other one with the food from that big country in Asia done British style (which is very similar to American style) SERIOUSLY disappointed. I feel they probably ended up not hiring a chef that can really pull that concept off. While the food isn't exactly horrible, the value for money offer there is poor.

I tend to agree, I hope the owner is on here to read this

I am a regular customer but getting seriously pissed off when I order a meal that should in reality come with rice or chips included, rice and spuds are very cheap here in Thailand and to have to pay extra is not on, you will loose customers over this for the sake of a few baht for rice or a few chips...........think about it

Also a semi-regular to the chippy, better than most out there in my view though the chips seem more ovenbaked than english chippy style like the wedge of lime and tatar (litte more mayo need in the mix ) bar that for 120b for dory and chips represents good value. Sure you could make it at home on the 'cheep' makro frozen pack of dory batter mix bag of spuds (spuds not much cheeper than euro prices in fact) lime mayonnaise

sweet pickle relish onion oil gas wash up after, "Think about it"

  6. Location mainly I would have thought lack of clientele in pattaya the Bed supper club is aimed at, let's face it the waste land of box area (no disrespect to Nova) between Klang Nua 2nd and 3rd is hardly sukhumvit soi 11 now is it, or the area where this is one in Amsterdam, though no doubt a concept not a franchise brand?

  7. (Dual Post)

Mr Miller has been in the deep end for his failure to at the very least issue a memo for the never ending daylight robbery along Pattaya beach, in his defense he clearly felt the growing anger and has since had an article published by the paper he is associated with. But this case really has highlighted not only a lack of human dignity but mainly misrepresenting the compassion of the British people, Foreign Office rules may dictate this or that, but the Basic’s at the very least to have had the man watered and fed at a cost of 50-100b a day were neglected. What would be interesting to know is what happened to Mr Richard Ian Hewitt between the 13th and 23rd, as seemingly not arrested on 13th, did it really take ten days for them to release he was an overstay? I have long had reservations about Mr Miller and many who work/volunteer under the banner of the tourist police, stories have surfaced about certain Individuals working alongside scammers making so called ‘deals’ for foreign nationals, more worrying is the very real info of their blatant work as informers, I have no proof of any involvement of Mr Miller but let’s just say he rubbed shoulders with some very corrupt volunteers and officials.

Thanks to that bizarre and undiplomatic response you have but your head on the block to be the Embassy scapegoat.

@SecretTom, I to find myself on the verge of dissecting the buffet of lies and 'red tape' you have laid out for us,but after reading your mock of Tracy " So a lady comes along on her white horse and saves the day" frankly I'm thinking better of it, why waste my time with somebody so clearly devoid of human connection and compassion you appear to be a prime example of social disintegration. PS I would steer well clear of Tracey Cosgrove after that "white horse" comment for your own safety.

  8. The best thing to do is complain about this to your consulate, with the recomendation that the head of the consulate orgainze a meeting at pattaya city hall with other consulate heads present . If 5 or 6 consulates did this together with press presence enough pressure might bring about change.

If this seem to be too small of a matter to them, then maybe local consulate representatives could do this. Howard could coordinate this with the others, just him taking these criminals on alone would probably not do vary much.

On one ocasion I did see a jet scam happening to some Israelis, I called one of the fpv personal mobile and asked him to come help these people. HE SAID FOR 4,000 BAHT HE COULD HELP NEGOTIATE LOWER FEE A FOR THEM.

It was not Howard but someone he worked with.

Now we see why the TPV are told to not get involved, can't have them cutting in to brown mafia's 20 percent. Fing stinks

  9. anti-personnel mines

Is that loud enough for some people? To date, all of the protests have railed about the evil Americans, the abrogation of Mr. Bout's personal liberties, the intrusions of the state into commercial enterprise, etc. and now the full story is coming out. And best of all it is transcribed and recorded for the whole world to see.

Columbia is a signatory of the landmine treaty. As such, any sale of landmines for use in Columbia would be a clear contravention of the applicable law. It would also be a violation of Columbian sovereignty. Where are all the bleaters now?

And just so the whiners don't have any reason to chime up with their usual , but the USA wah, wah, wah chant,, please note that according to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, the U.S. has not used anti-personnel mines since 1991, has had an export ban in place since 1992 and has not produced them since 1997. It is also the world's largest individual contributor for mine action and victim assistance programmes. Seems to me, the USA acted to prevent a sales agent of landmines from continuing to distribute these items.

I'd like to see Mr. Bout explain to a room filled with limbless children why it was ok to sell landmines.

He is charged with conspiracy to kill US nationals and government officers, conspiracy to use an anti-aircraft missile and conspiracy to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organisation. No landmines were ever sold in Columbia by Mr Bout, so what is your point? Are you seriously advocating a Precrime global Law systerm for the DEA, whilst roaming around using entrapment to gather their targets?

  10. We consider the illegal entrapment of Viktor Bout by US police on Thai soil and Thailand’s cooperation in his arrest for no crime committed in Thailand or the US to be one of Thai govt’s most shameful foreign incidents in decades.

In the course of a single week, we see Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma’s ‘heroine of democracy’, legally “freed” without any help or even lip-service from Thailand and Viktor Bout illegally shanghaied with the cooperation of Thai govt, making a mockery of any pretence to ‘democracy’.

Whatever Viktor Bout’s reputation or his guilt or innocence, Thai courts broke Thai law by admitting his case to court from the outset following his illegal arrest.

Not content with Bout’s illegal arrest based on a self-interested police informant, Thai govt tried to blame him for the arrival of a North Korean arms plane.

Furthermore, when the Criminal Court ruled against his extradition because the Colombian FARC insurgents are not a terrorist organisation in Thailand, Viktor Bout should have been immediately released and repatriated.

Instead, as on many previous occasions, Thailand chose to bend over to the USA with no Vaseline. After all, the US is a far bigger trading and military partner than Russia.

Thailand buried the rule of law on the Bout case. And all because the US won’t tolerate any competition as the world’s biggest arms merchant. The real Lord of War, the genuine Merchant of Death, is America.

The last arms dealer, extradited to the US from Spain, got 30 years. We have no doubt Viktor will get the same, with plumped-up evidence courtesy of Thai police.

The US has had a plane sitting at Don Muang since Bout’s appeal. Today it took only hours after Cabinet’s decision to put him on that plane. The PM may be trying to pass this decision off on Cabinet but we think the PM must take full responsibility for what happens to Bout in the US

  11. Mr Bout faces 25 years in prison if convicted for these horse s**t conspiracy to murder charges, brought about by the most blantant entrapment by the DEA, two years in BKK hilton, the whole case stinks. He is charged with conspiracy to kill US nationals and government officers, conspiracy to use an anti-aircraft missile and conspiracy to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organisation. Yet there were never any agents of the Farc only a DEA setup.

@ Marky45----- "This guy fought for the Taliban!" Your point being what? The Taliban had tea with Bush at the white house.5 yrs without charge for what "combat training with al Ciada' God no not the men in caves with sandles and rusty ak47s. "Because the US sells arms that gives every private person in the world a right to sell arms?" REPOST- do you think the US Goverment state ownes weapon manufacturers? BAE Systems a british Defence group is a "private" company as is every other Defense contractor. So yes V.Bout and his many cargo companys has as much right to be a arms trafficker as northrop grumman general dynamics or Lockheed martin.

"Maybe you thought Victor was in Thailand for the waters? He was selling weapons" Again your point being what? Mr Bout has amassed his $6bn fortune from his arms dealing.

    Not guilty case closed

  12. A nation that thinks it is their right to invent charges (and crimes) and apply them globally deserves ridicule.

Or for the love of Fascism, don't come complaining when others do the same.

Tawp, I have to agree with you. Also if you want to police the world then you should

make sure that your own backyard is reasonably clean. Have the US ever sold

arms and backed persons and groups from other countries? Ah that is ok because the

US says it is. What was the story with the Iran Contra and Oliver North, didn't that involve

    arms sales?

Because the US sells arms that gives every private person in the world a right to sell arms? Because a soldier has a machine gun everyone gets to have a machine gun? Do you know how silly you sound?

What are you talking about, do you think the US Goverment state ownes weapon manufacturers? BAE Systems a british Defence group is a "private" company as is every other Defense contractor. So yes V.Bout and his many cargo companys has as much right to be a arms trafficker as northrop grumman general dynamics or Lockheed martin.

  13. Shouldn't this effectively end all the Victor Bout threads? The guy was caught and arrested (arrested by Thai police). The guy's extradition was approved. A second set of charges that would have slowed extradition down from Thailand were dropped. The guy's lawyers tried to get charges reinstated to slow down extradition. They weren't reinstated and he was extradited in accordance with Thai law and the extradition treaty that Thailand has with the US.

Likely there will be USA bashing threads bringing this up for sometime.

Just as yet another excuse to bash USA.

Yeah and frankly so there should be, the blatant bias in this article "Viktor Bout allegedly jumped at the chance to arm narco-terrorists bent on killing Americans with an arsenal of military grade weapons,". "for use against US helicopters in Colombia" Thats like saying Gun store owners are responsible for any murder with a gun bought from their store. The US and the UK arm Israel who on recored bomb schools with white sulpherous. How about some other real horror crimes like the rape and sodamy of childen at Abū Ghurayb, the child prostitution run by blackwater, british sas setting car bombs in Basra's central square during a a major religious event.

If I were DEA working Columbia and someone was agreeing to sell

Surface to Air Missels to FARC I would assume without equivocation

it was with the aim to kill me or coworkers in a helicopter or spotter plane.

And since gun store owners legally do not sell SAMS to people,

that fact someone is doing it doesn't put him on the same

legal level or standing as a simple gun store owner.

This has nothing to do with the army or incidents of individuals going rogue in Abu Grahb or Isreal.

So don't imagine clouding the issue changes it a bit.

Yeah off the tread topic I raise up my hands, The gun store line was clearly an example, Arms dealers like V.Bout are not allowed to sell to the Farc, under what Law? 'Spotter Plane' I think you mean the DEA coke cargo line. Your right it has no relevance to the other REAL crimes i mentioned, but the reason I included them as they are all far more worth extensive investigation than how V.Bout amassed his fortune, yet none of them will ever be looked into. The fact you claim the likes of Black waters child prostitution rings ect as "individuals going rogue" shows your not as clued in as you come aross.

  14. Shouldn't this effectively end all the Victor Bout threads? The guy was caught and arrested (arrested by Thai police). The guy's extradition was approved. Fresh Rip-Off Claim in Phuket Jet-Ski Turmoil

    By Alan Morison

    Thursday, October 14, 2010

PRESSURE is expected to mount to ensure Patong jet-ski operators are no longer able to extort large sums of money from tourists in ''look what you did to my jet-ski'' scams.

A Malaysian tourist from Singapore - one of a group who claimed they were ripped off earlier this month - has passed on details of his complaint to Thai, Singaporean and Malaysian embassy officials.

Jet-ski rip-offs are also expected to be on the agenda when the new Australian ambassador greets Phuket's new governor next month - and when the honorary consuls and embassy representatives meet the governor in a summit just a few days later.

With the first anniversary of the jet-ski insurance scheme drawing closer, a new and credible complaint has come to light, this time from a South African tourist who claims to have handed over 69,000 baht to a jet-ski operator.

JJ still at it, what a filthy piece of scum .

Committee on Tourism have pulled or blocked the Big trouble in Thailand Doc on youtube back in Nov 09 , I think it needs to re-posted with slightly cripted title, they can't hide this never ending scam loss of face or not.The fact that the Tourist Police have been told to not get involved is a F***ing disgrace, the same goes for the local media

  16. @Powderpuff "I applaud you for checking prices.

Now you are able to make an informed decision.

I would like to have a Ferrari but I can't afford it.

Doesn't justify me saying that the Ferrari dealer is a "rip-off"."

To be honest I was not really doing a price compare vist to save a few baht, the shoe's from topman/women were bought, but knowing that I could have had them sent from the UK by DHS and for less is a clear sign that the stores in Central are quite blantly a rip off. I used to be very into wearing brands and think nothing of paying 60 quid for a polo tee 100+ for a pair of jeans, airmax 80 quid and so on. But now I only buy brand jeans moslty levi (but not from the Thai-levi store as far better value can be found in hong-kong levi-stores) and the odd designer shirt, seldom in fact do I buy cloths in patts bar I like 5cm and a t-shirt shop upstairs at royal garden and a lad at the monday friday market who has lots of decent element shorts.bar that I shop at siam square, also the tgf does most of her shopping in bkk platinum ect

  17. Do you normally go around department stores and high-end brand botiques in the UK and ask for discounts on the label prices...sounds a bit daft to me. So why would one do this at Central Department Store or the other stores at the Central Beach Mall. I mean were not talking about the Bua Khow or Thepressit Market now are we.

As to prices at Central, they may not be the cheapest in town but you are usually assured of getting a genuine article and not some cheap knock-off. In addition, like-for-like products are pretty much the same in any authorized seller's store in town. And as for sales, there are plenty of bargains to be had if you shop the great sales Central Department Store is always having.

Hold on, so in your warped view, you only ask small independent merchants for discounts not massive multinational companies, and yes of course I ask and frankly I get discounts in the likes of these stores in the UK Hong Kong ect. Clearly the prices are not pretty much the same in the clone stores world wide as I stated. Also Converse Puma Rip-curl Topman are not by any means high end botique brands.
