  1. If the geezer is found GUILTY, throw away the key, rather than let a low paid prison counciler decide whether or not he is fit to re-join society. In jail there is no temptation for nonces, therefore no more children will have to suffer at his hands. All you pro pedo (anti hang em high posters) need to get a grip, maybe sit down with the family of a minor that has lost their innocence at the hands of a beast and realise the destruction that peadophiles can cause.

  2. An unfortunate mugging and the foreigners go into knee jerk panic mode complete with the usual cries of terror. Phuket is a beach resort and like beach resorts around the world it has this type of crime. Get a grip. The locals identified the assailants, The police reacted immediately and solved the crime. Yes, it is wrongful act, but this type of incident is still not as common as in most big EU or American cities. Please keep your perspective.

It was a stupid random crime. That's all it was. It wasn't a conspiracy by the people of Phuket to hunt down Austrians on scooters, nor was it an indication of social collapse. I am still less concerned about the likelihood of a 13 year old stabbing me than I am of one of the drunk foreigners in Patong grabbing at my companion's breasts or asking her how much for boom boom. (And yes, that has happened, and even more astounding was that she was in uniform.)

Ask the guy in ICU (if he lives) if he thinks it was a stupid crime!!!! And as for it being random, one of the little thugs said it was the third robbery he had commited in about 2 weeks.

  3. 30

Most descent Thais would not be seen dead in Pattaya , All Abuse of people women or men at any age for sex is wrong , I take it many people (falang) can speak Thai. When you know some of these so called low life hores and prostitutes you will find some genuine people . many do not want to be there and are there because of circumstance. So who is worse those who use them or them for being there.

That being said, you can get hookers of all ages and genders absolutely everywhere in Thailand. Pattaya, Cowboy, Nana, Patpong are just the tip of the tip of the iceberg as far as prostitution goes here. I live in a pretty much all Thai part of Bangkok, on the outskirts, in an area where middle class gated communities are in the majority. I could walk 30 minutes in pretty much any direction from my housing estate and easily find hundreds of prostitutes if I wanted to (the thought skeeves me out to no end however). Just they way things roll here in LOS.

Some thing is terrible wrong with this picture .. tongue.gif.. and what does the V in the back of his neck stand for .. Victory or kWay ? cheesy.gif

You think you're a comedian? I think your sense of humour is out of line. What if the dead mans daughter or friends are reading this???? Don't give up your day job!!!!

  5. Sounds like these guys hearts are in the right place. However they will just be pumping another 11000 pounds into the Thai economy for no return IMO.

Where do these guys get their wives from? Quite sad really.

With a 1.5 million pound bounty up for grabs you would be surprised what lengths many people (women) would go to to get their hands on it. (Thai or Western).

Best of luck to the friends and daughter of the deceased.

  6. (qoute mark45y) I think my easiest class was one fifth grade that had a giant young boy in the class. He was twice as big as any of the other boys. I became friends with him and told him to hit anyone who got out of line. He never had to but the threat of that giant being turned loose kept the others completely in control. It was funny to watch. He stood in the corner with his arms folded and glared and growled at any child who was not working. (end of quote).

From reading your posts i take it you hate the bullies (little punks) as you labelled them in a previous post, but you give the biggest lad in one of your classes "carte blanche" to hit any student that got out of line (regardless of wether he had to or not), double standards is the phrase that springs to mind, i find this totally unacceptable. Who were/are you to give a student in you care the right to hit other students (if needed)? I expect a long drawn out reply from you regarding my post and i am sure you will not disappoint (massive yawn). I hope you have finished your teaching days and i pray to god my children never have the misfortune of being taught by someone with your twisted ethics!!!! :jap:

Have you ever met a giant? Did you ever look at a photo of Mohammed Ali next to Wilt Chamberlain? Wilt was a business partner of mine way back when. A nicer gentler man you could never have met. Same thing with this kid. He could have squashed any one he chose but a simple look served to keep order. The kids knew I would not hit them so there was no threat. I only rewarded most of the time.

You can sleep at night I have stopped teaching. I taught on a college level in the States and that was a lot easier than teaching Thai gradeschool and highschool. I also have a degree in Education and have written a number of text books. But don't worry they are all out of print now.

Do you really let your children go to a government school?

Thanks for the pic of Ali, he is one of my legends, although the pic makes no sense to me, the bigger they are the harder they fall!!!!

My children are of nursery age at present, i am still pondering which school will best meet there needs when the time comes. I am indeed relieved they are not in danger of being reprimanded by your pet yeti. I acknowledge your warped way of thinking where by a bigger individual can intimidate a smaller child, but surely that is a form of bullying (something we are made to believe you are totally against)? :whistling: .

  8. I am constantly amazed at people trying to white wash the most evil behaviour using various methods, most common being, it happens everywhere. Im sorry but in Canada we do not have a culture of 6 men beating on a lone woman, we simply do not, you might find one lone crazy that is capable at any one time but 6 men together all sharing the same evil outlook on life and perpetrating in public with no shame whatsoever? Not a common event like it is here. There is a basic sense of right and wrong that is simply completely missing in this country.

"There is a basic sense of right and wrong that is simply completely missing in this country." ... you cannot be more correct ... Thais are not wired like those from socially and spiritually enlightened societies.

... I've have been here more than a decade now, where I have lived and worked very closely with Thais ... professional, highly educated and well-travelled Thais, and the unfortunate upcountry prai who labor at the bottom of a truly foul feudal system ... I've raised abandoned Thai kids, and dealt with the nightmares that pass as their wretched families ... I think I know Thais ... quite well.

... as you, I don't see this as another isolated incident ... this behavior is pervasive, a consequence of a broader system of values ... I have struggled a great deal with Thailand and conclude that the root of it's problems emanate from it's cultural values ... how a nation is characterized, as a people, can all be attributed to it's cultural values ... developed over generations ... sustained by the momentum and collective will of the institutions under which the nation is organized ... it's systems of politics, bureaucracy, commerce, laws, religion, education, powerful families, etc.

... Thais true nature is difficult to see by most passers-by ... one of these cultural values itself, that perpetrates the misunderstanding of Thai true nature, is to conceal uncomfortable truths behind insincere wais and smiles (great material for tourism advertisements), belieing the reality of their lot ... we see this daily, all around us.

... this incident is shameful, and draws a lot of fire, but it is not really so uncommon an event for those of us who have gotten an up-close view into the lives of the common Thais ... they comprise the overwhelming majority of this enigmatic nation.

... my belief is that Thai cultural values are inferior ... by any broadly accepted standards of decent, humane behavior ... it is a strong statement, and one I do not make lightly ... I've seen a lot of this world, having lived in 10 countries, so make that statement with some sense of perspective ... I understand tribal, survivalist values ... they are instinctive and without soul and conscience.

... Thailand is at best standing still in its societal evolution ... worse, is that it might well be moving backwards, toward behaviors commonly accepted in Sub-Saharan Africa.

... my greater sadness, is that there appears no Thai institution strong enough, or motivated, to resist this social decay that is eating at the very guts of this nation.

... a very thin veneer, appearing as modernity and civility, seems to sustain Thailand's image to those who have not scratched beneath the surface ... but, it seems to me that Thailand is in an inexorible spiral, returning to a primitive, less civil, less humane form of society.

... to those who have been here for 5+ years; have the perspective of living in other cultures; and, had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Thailand: have I overstated the case?

A very insightful post, thank you.

  9. Thais can't hold their liquor? - THais can't do this, Thais can't do that...THEY aren't capable of......the trouble with Thais is......

the problem here is pure racism on the part of some posters.

This is a robbery - same as anywhere - some unpleasant people involved - assuming the reports are accurate - which is unlikley

basically what i was going to say.

it's bizarre how there seems to be a lot of people who are racist about thai people on a forum about thailand.. and who're living in thailand.

that and the self-fulfilling prophetic cynicism and sarcasm about the people and their country is hypocritical at best.

it's not clear what happened.. that video of the supposed banana seller shows him trying to help.. apparently the guys were sober.. construction workers do get up early.. and it might have been a fear/territorial thing.. same as other humans in any countries.. and robbery afterwards would be tempting to many people too, especially poor people.

it is unfortunate sure, and it is a crime.. and maybe this group were a bunch of thieving thugs.. but to use this as an excuse to bash thai people, shooting so enthusiastically from the hip, and talking about thai people as if they're all the same, is noxious.

The video posted on this thread about the banana seller is a completely seperate incident, it has nothing to do with the original post.

  10. Always a "GROUP" of Thai blokes bashing one farang. Never hear of a one on one fight, they are like wild dogs once they drink a tiny amount of alcohol. The Russian would of probably snapped anyone of them in half one on one, <deleted>*king cowards!!!!

OK, but if you went onto a building site anywhere in Europe at 4am as a stranger and joined in with a big group of mates who were already hammered, and then it got a bit out of hand, I am not so sure they wouldnt all gang up on you as well. From the experience I have seen of groups of mates, they do tend to stick together when one of their own is getting into a scrape with an outsider. Dont think the Thai's are any more animalistic than men from most other countries when it comes to fighting when drunk. No disrespect intended, but construction workers globally do tend to act in a more base manner, wolf whistling being another example. I saw a man get bottled in the UK one night by a group of lads in a nightclub. His crime? He asked the gang of lads to leave his extremely attractive girlfriend alone.

He was lost walking past a building site, he never entered the building site. He was called over, greeted then offered a drink. Does that warrent being stabbed? Also i very much doubt a foreman or health and saftey officer on a construction site in Europe would let workers sit outside the site getting pissed at 4 am, just my opinion. Being in a nightclub is a totally different situation and surrounding, not that it makes it right to get a bottle round your head regardless of where you are, but i would guess most people would be less surprised if it took place in a nightclub over a woman, not walking past a construction site lost on holiday.

  11. RE: KY

    Use common sense ..

It is called circumstantial evidence. This is something that helps build a case. It is also not illegal for a young boy to enter the home of a man but it is suspicious and thankfully the police acted on this circumstantial evidence to catch what is likely a pedophile. Also, a kids testimony doesn't carry a lot of weight and it is never a good thing to force them to testify and be cross examined. In all cases, especially crimes with child victims, every ounce of possible evidence of a crime needs to be collected in the hopes of getting this guy to plead guilty.

Well said, all the posters on here nit-picking about KY Jelly need to sort their heads out, of course its not illegal to own it but take into account the rest of the story and it is not rocket science what the scumbag was using it for is it????

  12. You guys bitch about having more then 2 on bikes and helmet quality, you go pay for an extra bike or car and a nice helmet for a poor thai family then. They don't even have mosquetto nets or shutters and any toilets in the NE let alone these luxuarys.

    Get real.

I understand you point regarding finacial means of some families but you can buy a half decent helmet from Tesco Lotus for about 500 baht. Just out of interest what price do you put on childrens safety? What disgusts me is when you see the adult riding a motorbike with a helmet on and the 3 or more children crammed onto the bike wearing nothing. Nice parents (not)!!!!!

How many drivers have actually passed their tests? The standard of road safety of a lot of Thai's is a joke. Do they even know what indicators are used for?
