pre paid ISP cards for landline dial up modem can be purchased from your loocal 7-11.

AIS also offer packages on the pre paid sim cards as well, I currently get 60 hours GPRS for 200bht a month. I think the packages start at 10hrs for 50 bht, once you've used up your allowance it reverts to 1bht a minute.

I wouldn't necessarily put your adverse reaction down to the mixing of metronidazole and alcohol. I have been prescribed metronidazole on a couple of occasions. Once from a dentist for a gum infection and once in Thailand for an ear infection as well. Both times I have felt absolutely awful, similar to how you described. I didn't mix the metronidazole with alcohol, they are quite capable of making your feel like that all on there own!

I was told by my dentist that it is an extremely hardcore antibiotic that strips ALL bacteria from your system and feeling like this is not uncommon. I guess mixing with a couple of pints doesn't help! That said I just couldn't finish the whole course of these buggers! I think I lasted about three days...

I presume the prescribing of metronidazole is a kind of "if that doesn't sort the infection out nothing will" approach, I tend think it is more a case of "over egging the pudding"!

With regard to the messages you are getting, just call the 12call call center ( call 1175 I think ) and tell them that you are getting all these "flash messages" and they will block them for you.

The same thing happend to me 3 months ago. I got a new phone sent to me from the UK and it was locked to Orange, went to MBK to get it unlocked and then I started getting all these messages. I guess whoever unlocked thought that I'd like to be signed up to this service!

Another thing to bear in mind is that most of these messages are for competitions i.e. win an ipod etc. etc. If you reply you find you are charged an entry fee debited from your pre paid balance.

I'd like to apply for a 1 Year Non Imm B Visa in Penang. I'm a British Passport holder and Director of a Thai Ltd Company. What I'd like to know is:

1) Are Penang issuing 1 Year Non Imm B Visas?

2) If so what papers are required.

Thanks for the suggestions, just to let you know I went to Suan Plu and transfered the stamp. No passport receipt was asked for but photocopys of new and old passport and arrival card are required. All in all took about an hour.

Just renewed my UK Passport. I am currently on 30 entry stamp with about 5 days remaining. Do I need to go to Suan Plu to transfer this stamp, or can I take my old and new Passport to the border when I do my next visa run?

I'm trying to restore to a PC. I tried using transmac but I could not find all the files. I had about 40 gig of data on the external drive, about 30 gig are mp3 files. When I looked at the usage on transmac it still tells me 40 gig used, when I look at the mp3 files it's only showing 12 gig? I thought as I made a backup I might need to restore it to get back all the files if that makes sense?

Yes I miss my Mac so much, Windows is so "clunky" and inelegant compared to OSX. Everything works ok but it's not very slick. I went with a PC purely due to the economics, but I will be back to Mac as soon as I can afford it!

Had my IMac stolen a few months ago and have now replaced it with a PC . Fortunatly I had backed up the IMac internal drive to an external usb drive using silverkeeper back up software . I need to find somewhere/someone that can help me restore the backup. Any Ideas? I'm in Bangkok.

Soi Ekkamai (63) has some cool bars. Bangkok Bar is good it's on the corner of soi 2, cool music, good drinks, a proper bar!! Mostly 20/30 something arty Thais, nice atmosphere and no bar girls or sex tourists. Friday night they open upstairs and it kicks off a bit!

Hip Hop bar and Peer Share are also on Ekkamai and worth checking out. There is a problem finding good places to hang out at if you want something a bit more "contemporary" rather than the usual "last century"dives.

I agree with Boris, do not sell your property in the UK ....rent it out! What happens if after 3 months you decide it isn't right, you've spent a load in the Los you move back to the UK and property has risen another 10%(still possible) and you've spent 20% of your funds(very possible!), back home you're now 30% down and stuffed with 2 kids a wife and no job...... No guarantee you will get a 3 month visa either which means you may be making those visa runs a bit more often too.
