Shouldn't more than a couple of days for DHL Flyer. About 3-4 days for DHL Express.

Edit: Just noticed your screenshot is showing Thailand Post tracking link. Was it some other economy service?

My understanding was that in Germany DHL is smth like EMS... they always use this "DHL" as a shipping service, but costs are quite reasonable, more like normal post. Will wait a bit longer, thanks folks.

  3. Hello,

I have a parcel coming from Germany, posted via DHL. Tracking shows it left Germany a week ago, but still not trackable via Thailand post,

Who had experience, how long should I wait till escalating the issue with DHL?

p.s. in my previous experience with German DHL, a parcel was sent to a wrong country (Austria instead of Australia) 3 (three) times... wondering how can they mess it up this time.

  4. Thanks for corrections, very valuable. Yet my correction of your corrections:

    Small correction.

    - Copy ATM is changed to copy bankbook — i don't have an account here, so they still wanted an ATM card

    - Rental contract is not required if up to date address registration is used. — I was asked on the spot to make a copy of each page of the rental contract, even though I had up-to-date residency certificate in my passport.

    - Only tambien baan of application address (same as address registration ) is required. — still required wife's house book (we rent in Phuket, but her hometown is up North)

    - Kor ror 22 can now be issued at any Amphur with certified translation of foreign marriage certificate. -- true, even though Thalang Amphur said otherwise. Next year we will be more insistent.

As you don't have a house book from your Phuket house the rental agreement can indeed being asked. but the house book from your home in another province should not be required.

If you don't have a bank account a foreign ATM is indeed required.

Well, I think in the end it all depends on the mood of a particular officer there, and the list I created can satisfy craziest requirements.

    — We provided both house books (wife's and rental's), yet they asked for the contract too;

    — Copy of local nameless ATM card (attached to my wife's account) was required, not overseas one.

  6. Lodged my 3rd annual extension today, first time accomplished from 1st attempt w/o shuttling back home to fetch extra documents. I created a little list last year, which helped tremendously, below's an updated version with little tweaks based on this year requirements.

  7. Sorry, I'll piggyback here not to multiply similar topics:

I'd like to switch from 1yr Marriage to 1yr Parent non-immi O extension (live in Phuket, married, i'm the father and it's stated on birth cert.). Can it be done w/o leaving Thailand? What docs are required in addition to:

    • Birth Certificate
    • Mothers ID
    • Trebian Baan (or residence certificate if renting, I assume?)
    • Mother & Son in tow

    Thank you.

  8. I used Opera 12, Opera 36, Vivaldi, Comodo Dragon and Internet Explorer. Oh, well. Apparently the system is still down if you got the message to contact your local message?

I get the message every time I try it because I have no record in the database. My last entry is to old plus I have gotten a new passport since then.

Other than Internet Explorer all those other browsers will more than likely not work correctly on the site. Even some versions of IE will not work. Do you have java enabled?

Chrome/Safari work fine even w/o IETab,

Got nothing to do with Java, but the site uses clunky javascript, see my reply above how to fix the bug. After that it should work in any browser.

    Correct URL:

    https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm

  9. Guys, just copy-pasting my little javascript hack from another topic that makes stupid website work fine:

Was filling the online form again, and AGAIN got bothered by the silly webpage bug they still can't fix (which renders the whole form laggy and unresponsive). Little workaround for techies:

    1) go to https://extranet.immigration.go.th/fn90online/online/tm47/TM47Action.do?cmd=acceptTerm

    2) Choose Notification of staying...

    3) IMPORTANT: fill in Captcha and your Nationality first,

    4) Open browser dev console (in chrome it's CMD-OPTION-J on Mac or Ctrl-Shift-J on Win/Linux)

    5) Paste the following:

    var prevajax = jQuery.ajax;
    jQuery.ajax = function () { };

    (press Enter after pasting).

What the code does is prevents immi stupid website from sending 100s of requests after each keypress you do.

    6) fill the form normally, and proceed to 2nd page, which you fill normally to, no trickery there.

Done. Takes 2-3 minutes in total.

Just filled it, still works fine. The interface is simply abandoned by developers, including all bugs and backdoors they left, so don't expect this to be fixed any time soon.

  10. I know about multiple passports apparently, as my own son enjoys his triple nationality smile.png What I meant, however, is that law prohibits using a foreign passport to enter your home country (i.e. country, where you hold a passport). Which, is imho, a far greater sin that overstay. But I'm not a lawyer, just point of curiosity why would anyone do that to to begin with (use foreign passport to enter his home country).

  12. Speaking as one who has now made 3 successful reports I have found the immigration web site to be fast and problem free.

It is (can be). 3 is a good number. Have only 2 so far tongue.png

There are problems with incompatible browsers and I remember another post where this copy/paste was described.

    But why have a headache.

Use the "IE Tab" extension/addon for Firefox or Chrome and you be fine.

It works even better than using the latest IE version.

there is no IE tab for OS X, and frankly, using copy-paste is faster than messing with a virtual machine setup just to run IE once.

  13. Guys,

If anyone can propose a phone number to reach immi website tech support, I can explain in detail what's wrong with their server config, which makes their website is so slow/buggy. It will take literally 1 minute to fix it.

BTW, even https verison works in all browsers (I just could fill in Chrome on Mac from 3rd attempt), but due to the misconfig, your browsers fire about 1000 requests per each page, which takes resources of your PC and their server (like self-imposed DDOS), hence laggines and disfunction.

Until they resolve it, quick tip: instead of typing your name, passport #, capcha etc into forms, just copy-paste into each field.

And start filling the form with selecting nationality, because if you type nationality in (instead of selecting), you'll end up with a blank page after submit.

Have you made a successful 90 report using your unique data input methodology ?

Speaking as one who has now made 3 successful reports I have found the immigration web site to be fast and problem free.

Not only you, but 14k other non-thai nationals, mostly from Burma and Cambodia smile.png Do not ask how I know this.

  15. Did you do it? Did it work? This website is a mess, to say the least. The requirement for Internet Exploder is just the tip of the iceberg.

Yep, done it 3 times already, no probs whatsoever. Takes 10 mins to fill online forms and receive confirmation via e-mail within an hour.

Website is a bit dodgy, but TIT, what you expect.

Security warning is due to self-signed https certificate... all your private data is in the Thai govt system anyway, which is designed by Thais, so can be stolen quite easily... I would not bet on private info safety here at all.

  16. Regarding your link to FedEx and package value... you indicated in the op that it was EMS and further that you would be going to Thai Post for collection. My experience recently with importing from Japan through the post is the threshhold is 1,000 thb.

    Reference also http://www.customs.go.th/wps/wcm/connect/custen/individuals/importing+postal+items/importingpostalitems

Folks, I'm telling you — it's a new regulation, that took place couple of month ago! You don't expect Thai authorities to update their websites more than once a decade, do you?

    Original note:

    http://www.ctat.or.th/AnnouncementCustomsDepartmentD/34/1527/%E0%B8%9B%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B0%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%A8%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%A1%E0%B8%A8%E0%B8%B8%E0%B8%A5%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B2%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%97%E0%B8%B5%E0%B9%88-412558

Use google translate if you don't believe me.

On my receipt it clearly says 1,500 baht threshold, hence the made up "minimally taxable" value of 1,600 baht they imposed on me.

  17. The minimum assessable value for duties & VAT is THB1000, not 1500

recent update, current value is 1,500 baht: http://www.fedex.com/th/news/custom.html

You can file an Appeal. I did it back in May and ended up having all the 'fees' waived. If you want more details I woukd be happy to provide them, but given your package appears to be 'taxable' I don't want to waste my time doing a detailed post if it's a pointless exercise.

Was the item you purchased originally manufactured in an ASEAN member country?

You have to file the appeal before accepting the package.

Interesting point about ASEAN, as it is a TOMICA track set, and they're manufactured in Vietnam these days, which it clearly says on the packaging in plain English...

How long did the appeal process take? The parcel is in my missus name, and she's a hard nut when it comes to corrupt officials, so I dont mind her stirring some sh#t, if timeframes are reasonable.

  18. Once again about import duties.. My case is rather simple: sent a package from Japan via EMS, total value is 5,000 JPY which is ~1,400 thb (below 1,500 baht) threshold. The Thai Customs say value was not declared (even though receipt is in the box), and set value at 1,600 THB, hence 500 baht import dutues to be paid.

Now, 500 baht is not a big deal, but still money and rather a symbol of customs officials' impunity.

Before I go to the post office to pay&collect the parcel, question is, can the duty be easily repelled (i.e. w/o going to the customs office at the airport etc)? Anyone had positive experience?

  19. Yeah Laguna Park is the new housing place, soon to be a vacation slum from the looks of it. It's off on land that was just jungle before, but to have banners and bill boards everywhere, OK we know already, new town houses for sale. But it's the Casurina condo I find so troubling, for one they cut down hundreds of old casurina trees. And two, the house friend rented now has a view of that horrible fence and not the lagoon and trees with the beach beyond as before.

Its sadsad.png I got introduced to Laguna as far back as in 93` and dreamed long about living out there, not so anymore.

Where would you dream to live these days?
