    Ridiculous. How can someone run away from a conviction, returning after 15 years as a wanted criminal to supposed imprisonment, step straight back into the top job in town?

    By the sound of it quite possibly considerable

    The subcommittee, tasked with scrutinising the fiscal budget for 2024, had previously denied the ministry’s request for 950 million baht for this procurement.

    At the current exchange rate,  {1 ThB = 2.56 Rouble}, 950M ThB = 2432,000,000 Rouble

    That's 2.4 Billion Roubles  ! ! ! ! !  { Seems expensive to me  ! }

    Does this include Secondary Sanctions  ?

    What about Maintenance  ?  Can the Russians get the Spare parts needed ? {like computer chips, which they cant get for any other Aircraft ?}

    I think that "the parliamentary subcommittee’s refusal to approve funding for a new Russian-made helicopter."

    is justified  !

    I personally think that the Thai Government can't subsidy everything. They should invest in modern transportation and if things are too costly replace them. It seems that the Thai Government is responsible for all extra costs.. subsidy for farmers, petrol, hospitals, transportation etc etc .. but the most Thai people are not paying taxes so how on earth can everything being paid than?

    They should follow the Hong Kong method  !  The ONLY MTR system that ever Broke even,  {before the 1997 Chinese takeover that is  !}
    Allow the concessionaires to build Retail areas to subsidise their Rail travel

    Similarly,  Singapore's CBD  {Marina Bay}, has vast retail areas underground   !

    'significant part of the population' surly you're not serious here, how many of the 72 millions

    Thai citizens are  of the LGBTQ persuasion that you're calling them 'significant part"?

    For all we know maybe he's or others close to him are somehow connected to the LGBTQ comunity that

    he's pushing so hard to legalise now...

    Both male and female types of same-sex sexual activity are legal in Thailand, and same-sex marriage rights within the nation are pending legalisation. About eight percent of the Thai population, five million people, are thought to be in the LGBT demographic.  {Wiki}

    That's 5 times more than any country of corresponding size to Thailand

    Every space-capable nation has the "ability" to deploy an anti-satellite weapon, it is simply a small gun with laser or other range-finding/locking systems, very simple to do.

    They don't do it, because of a treaty signed way back when, including by Russia.

    If Russia does deploy it, they are breaking the treaty, which then brings the world a minute or seconds closer to MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) on the famous Doomsday Clock.

    Russia, {or should I define the perpetrator as Putin, or his mouth-piece Peskov}, says this regularly in their Propaganda, outbursts on their nightly outbursts, just to get the uninformed western media, to make some cowardly statements about giving Putin everything he asks for  !

    Severe? Fierce?

    Such dramatic words.

    Today at noon I gave up and switched on AC in the car.

    Misc weather forecasts for our area show a chilly 16 C (60 F) for tomorrow morning, cool 29 C ( 84 F) at noon and unbelievable wind speeds of 7 kph.

    Today some leafs have fallen from the trees. Believe or not :tongue:

    The obvious part for our politicians is obviously that it is a multi-billion-dollar project.

    Any such project will find lots of politicians who want it, all those hundreds of millions on "commissions".

    It seems 30% "commission" is usual in Thailand. Which politicians doesn't want to be rich.

    And obviously there are always some reasons why something is a good idea.

    I didn't follow this project, but I wonder if there are any people or companies who support this idea who will not financially profit from it?

    I.e. are there international shipping companies lobbying for this?

    Or are there lots of people who don't want it because they don't see that it makes sense, and they won't profit from it?

    The Chinese want it  !  When Thailand can't pay them for it, the Chinese will get TWO Ports and a Military base out of it  !

    Yes it's wise but is it fair?

    A court in Texas 'more or less absolved' a 16 year old of various charges after he stole his father's car, got blind drunk, drove the car the wrong way on a highway and killed 4 people. He got a suspended sentence after his lawyer pleaded that he had 'affluenza', and that his affluent parents had never made him responsible for anything.

    Seems to me that Thai boys are never held to account by indulgent parents...so if they are prosecuted now it might be a case of 'indulgenza'.

    All the more reason to make the Parents   "Criminally Responsible", and make the Fines,   "Bigger",    ""MUCH Bigger"" than the AFFLUENT"S wealth  !

    But don't forget,  They CAN'T BUY the property under Thai Law, they may only lease it, unless they are VERY VERY RICH,  !
    Does the Government allow them to buy 100% of Thai land  ?  ?

    TRANSPORT Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit inspected the spot in Nonthaburi where three kilometres of MRT Pink Line’s conductor rail fell on the road before dawn this morning (Dec. 24) and ordered the closure of service on this route for seven days, Naewna newspaper said.

    Preliminary investigation showed that this accident stemmed from construction not system error, he said, while urging the public to have confidence in the monorail lines.

    It appears that dirt got stuck in the train wheels and upon running scraped the rail causing it to fall. A crane may be used to pull up sheet piles that cause the dirt to get stuck on these wheels, he explained.

    Conductor rail is a special power transmission system installed along the track and supplies electric energy to the train.

    Describe 'CH built'

    Project overseen by engineers from CH ?  Using local labor.  Using material from CH isn't strange, as most of the world's grid uses material from CH.

    But if same as TH-ITA building overpasses & highways in TH, surely aren't built by workers from IT.

    CH built anything certainly isn't a bad thing, as they seem to excel in most things infrastructure wise.  Even everyday product wise, if have a choice where something is made, I'll always pick CH over USA, UK/EU or TH.

    CH means that EVERYTHING will have been Chinese  !

    Imported Chinese labour as well, {apart from the tea boys  !}.
    If you want to see the Quality of Chinese Construction, you only have to look at the 3 Gorges Dam, the Evergrande Housing infrastructure, to see what they leave out of the concrete  !

    And DON'T forget the Debt Burden of Thailand to the CCP  !

    ASEAN Countries are wise-ing up to the "Belt and Road Initiative", especially after Sri Lanka now owes SO much {$} to China that they have had to grant the Sri Lanka Port {which CCP so generously built for them} as a 99 year lease as a Military Base  !
