  1. Seems the farang has brought the ladies out of the Isaan jungle and they will never understand what's right or wrong with modern cleanliness unless the farang teaches them, but if he is an asshol_e then you have a problem.

As has been said, getting something done is almost impossible. I like GH idea as Isaan folk will fear a spiritual thing and if the ladies are controlling this guy they should be on their way.

I believe it has to do with upbringing.

My wife has lived and worked in Bangkok for the last 15 years, and what the OP described above is exactly how she, her mother and her extended family all behave in my house. Imagine going into the bathroom and finding excrement on the floor! No matter what I did, and how much I complained, it didn't stop the mess. All I got was, "You don't like my family." Now I just jump over the mess to do my business.

The more you let them know you're not happy with their dirtiness and madness, the more they'll continue to litter the place just to make you angry and react. Just ignore them.

  2. They'll keep calling and threatening her, but they can't arrest her, and they can't do anything to her. They'll end up making deals with her to pay half or something.

This is not new. You can pay if you want to, but if you don't, don't be bothered by all those calls.

I get really frustrated about this. (Derifo....I don't mean you, I mean the "culture of debt" in many countries. I'm also not referring to the OP's situation specifically.)

I completely understand how people make mistakes and get into terrible situations involving debt. I also empathize with how stressful massive debt can be. I've been there myself. But I hear too many people saying things like "I don't have to pay my debt - they can't do anything" or "I don't have the money for bills. I will just ignore it" or "Shouldn't my debt be cleared after 10 years?" They scream and yell at debt collectors and companies, as if, how dare they ask me for their money back? I just don't understand that. Loans (including credit cards) are not free money! By not paying back the banks, people with this sense of entitlement could be making it more expensive for the rest of us. The banks have to get the money back somehow, perhaps by giving the rest of us higher interest rates or more fees.

About 5-6 years ago, I had racked up about 1 million baht in debt in my home country. That was awful. I worked like crazy to live cheaply, work extra, and pay off the debt. I gave up things I really wanted, and even things I needed. Maybe I'm just annoyed that I had to make huge sacrifices to pay off my debt, and I don't think it's "fair" that other people can be frivolous, run out of money, borrow more money, then get away with not paying it back. Ok, vent over.

I would also like to politely disagree with the posters who have said that the OP's girlfriend will never learn. I sure did, and I've never accumulated any debt since I paid it all off. I am determined never to end up in that situation again. I believe that I would feel the same way had someone paid off all my debt for me - I will never forget how hopeless I felt. Some people really do learn from their mistakes. :)

I paid off my wife's debt when we first started off and within six months, the she was in debt again. this time almost triple the previous amount. Her excuse was that her she just couldn't say no to her mother, so I refused to help out with the payment. They just kept calling, and DTAC even call me out of nowhere ( I don't know how they got my phone number ) to pay up 2,300. I warned them not to ever call me again that I wasn't the one that owed them money.

You should see Thais shopping and dining just as if they earn six figures, but majority of them actually spend credit cards. It all comes down to greed. People should learn to live within their means.

  3. My guess is that you're going to get a lot of advice telling you to dump her and find another girlfriend. Obviously that's not what you want, though, so I hope you can find some answers. Being in debt stinks, and lots of people find themselves in that situation for reasons other than being frivolous. Good luck!

  4. I dont drink I never go to bars, is that so hard to believe? Ive never been to Nana either or most of the other local holes.

Yeah right, and I'm from a minor planet Zargh 14.71 in the outer reaches of the great spiral galaxy you know as M31 in the constellation Andromeda. I also know nothing of these "bars" and who is "Nana" but I do know a local "hole", black it is and composed of superdense matter.

Welcome to the internet where you are what you say and nobody believes you nor gives a flying <deleted>.

Don't be cruel. There could be people like travelmann walking the earth amongst us; its like an alternate universe an arm's length away from our own...

    SC

I've been here ( BKK ) for 8 yrs. I don't go to Nana, I don't go to Pat Pong, or any other bar for that matter..

  5. What's with everyone saying the girls didn't consent?

He said they would not be available in Thailand. He put them on a US site, that (supposedly) can only be accessed from a proxy server.

Who in their right mind uses a proxy server to access porn overseas when it is so freely available, anyone can get it free with a few clicks? It is reasonable to assume nobody would waste their time using a slow a$ proxy when they can get it FREE without one elsewhere.

And the pirate DVDs they are using in the story- who pirated them??? Can't they see the hypocrisy of this article???

Poor country girls being taken advantage of by rich playboy! Oh my! The shame of it!

The truth is that a sex tourist (not saying it's wrong, just saying what it is) has an agreement with local women to have sex for money (illegal on BOTH sides) to film it for pornography (illegal on BOTH sides yet again) and distribute it overseas only (which he is doing and is NOT illegal).

Both parties are guilty, and Thailand's piracy problem is the root cause of these girls finding their videos on Sukhumvit Road.

Who gets painted as the bad guy for Thailand's piracy? The original creator of the content!!!!

This whole article is a joke.

EDIT: spelling and added a sentence or two for clarity

    You're very correct.

  6. Just a case of everyone exploiting everyone else. The girls end up at the bottom of the pile, but I doubt they could be described as an 'innocent' party.

If they had not consented then they are 'innocent' - if they consented to being filmed and those films being distributed and money made from those films sale (and assuming they got a hefty fee) then, yes, they are not 'innocent'. It 'appears' they had not consented and even those at the 'bottom' deserve respect in my opinion.

A "hefty fee"??? I doubt it was so hefty, especially based on the hollow promise of local anonimity.

The biggest worry, though, is how this guy got off multiple chargeable offences.

By concealing or hiding his face from the camera I think.

  7. Those girls poor? he's relatively rich? go figure - it's disgraceful

Surely if the Government aided the 'poor' girls from the 'countryside' they would not have to resort to prostitution, which is what they are lets face it, prostitutes (women who sell sex for money) and why aren't those girls in jail ? I thought prostitution was illegal here ?

I thought they were called entertainers!
