That's wonderful. But how many are in Thailand right now?  How many of those are in the USA right now.

Right now... That's the issue... Not tomorrow or next week. Right now.

What should we do RIGHT NOW? What can we do with what we have right now.

It's wonderful to talk about companies making great strides to produce test kits, but if the countries don't have them today, what is YOUR suggestion for what can be done today?

We don't have the test kits right now.

Will you agree that the next best option is self-isolation? Or will you continue just saying "Testing, identifying and isolating will defeat the virus" as if it's some magical mantra, until the tests can be administered?

Yes, you are correct. It will. But what do we do today? There aren't enough tests. Sure, we

need more, Sure, we will get more... eventually. But what do we do in the meanwhile?

    This man can post!!!

We’re sitting on line...  8am....  must be 150 people waiting for retirement visa extensions. I’m sitting in chair #9. My line sitter got here at 2am. So much for ‘low season’ slowdown. People still piling in. Line extends well past the end of the building. Damn.....

Nice to see you contributing to corruption.

We were told by the people sitting next to us that the fellow manning the Re-Entry desk was taking between 20-30 minutes per applicant. Just as our number came up, he stood up and walked out the back door towards the toilets. Fifteen minutes later, the woman who appeared to be running the show sat down at the desk and called my number. My wife an I sat down together, at which point we were instructed to fill out the survey and hand them in. We did so, and then the woman took both our passports and documents, quickly went through both stacks, stamped everything for both of us, and we left the desk 10 minutes later. Ten minutes to process two of us, where as the other fellow was taking 20-30 minutes for one. We thanked the Gods for his weak kidneys.

Did you go there the day before to make sure you understood the process completely, like when I saw you there?

Let's face it, this whole 90 day reporting thing is nothing but a nice job creation scheme, but obviously they've worked out that it can be quite lucrative to make it difficult for the customer as well.

If you google "Thailand Immigration Corruption" and the name of any city with an immigration office, I'm sure you will find plenty to chew over.

I don't believe The Nation is on the TV banned list, and in 2015 they opined:

They are aware of the problem, as they are of the rampant traffic deaths, but in both cases there is absolutely no will to do anything about it.

LOL at anyone who disagrees with this post.

Ya got me.  I confess.  I want to see everyone in abject poverty with no hope of upward mobility. I just can't help it.

And FolkGuitar has me pegged too.  I fall for the assumptions that corruption, bribery, evolution, and gravity exist.

Perfect!  I love the chick in your avatar, too.

These same people who disagree with you would go along with the narrative that all of the evil in the world is a result of western colonialism, too.

You are more switched on than me.  I did not even realize that Thais would go to Imigration at Prom to get visas.

The point of a discussion forum is to learn and get new ideas.. (Strange, right.)  You very much have the same opinion of things as someone who stepped off of the plane on day one.  It might do you some good to assume that some people might know a wheeee bit more than you.

For example...do you think it's incompetence that makes the powers that be choose the lousiest traffic lights, or is something else that might make more sense?

Why is it not more logical to put issues with CM down to an icreased demand, and/or lack of resources, and/or piss poor management and/or it is not a top priority for government, etc, rather than corruption/conspiracy.

When I look at the spaghetti like electricity cabling, decision to change streets in Nimman one way,  gigantic pot holes in roads, crazy driving, TAT campaigns etc... I generally see incompetence rather than conspiracy.  The All Seeing E ye, Freemasons, Council of World Zionists or Xenu are clearly not pulling their weight in CM.

Here's a wild concept... Maybe you should ask a Thai.

Let's look at it from a different perspective.

We know that no other Immigration Office has the problems seen here in the Chiang Mai office. We know this. We've heard it a dozen times from a dozen different regions. WE know...

That presupposes that the rest of Thailand Immigration knows about the problem. It's very visible. So... Is this problem due to corruption? Or is it simply bad management?

    1. Does the rest of Thailand Immigration support some sort of corruption? And if so, why isn't it going on at any other Immigration offices?

    2. If it does NOT support corruption, why does it continue in Chiang Mai?

I suggest that this problem is NOT caused by corruption, but by management issues, and staffing problems exacerbated by a overly-large case load.

If you disagree, please show us the Financial Flow-chart to support your theory.

    Sincerely,

Guy who has lived in Thailand for a long time, doesn't get it,  and never will.

  9. I hiked Doi Suthep a bunch and never saw one, but it doesn't surprise me.  There are macaques around the Mae On Temple, which isn't exactly nearby, but in the grand scheme of things, the geography is quite similar.

There are snakes up there also. (Suthep)

Hope you can make it ...I'll be there also.

Looking forward to meeting you in person LB.

Never met an "adult" who calls himself a "badboy" before.

PS we'll make it a requisite than there is nothing dangerous for children at the meeting place, just so you can relax.

Haha, it's always a good idea to hide the wife and kids when I'm out drinking!

Make sure you wear something cute for me.

Ulysses opines; " Personally I could care less about seeing his tax returns. He is a billionaire and very successful. Those are the FACTS."

    According to who, Breitbart?

It's much more likely that he's been cheating on taxes for the past 30 to 40 years. If you've been paying attention, you'll see Trump leaves a 5 mile oil slick of cheating and scamming.  He cheats, lies and scams every day.

That's why he will absolutely not release his tax returns - not for 2016 or any year prior.  The one year which the general public saw, was not released by him - and it showed cheating on a grande scale.

He may be worth 1 billion tops.  Show me any facts (not counting the pap that comes out of his mouth) which proves otherwise.

P.S. in his recent press conference, he said he has no financial or business involvements with Russia.  Earlier, his son said the Trump Organization had mega involvements with Russia (in so many words).  If Trump has zero money involvements in Russia, then I'm Catherine the Great.

You do realize the IRS can scrutinize his tax returns?
