  1. The original 'Silence of the Lambs' movie from 1991 and subsequent follow ons ... how / where we can buy or download with Thai subtitles?

Have just watched the latest 'Hannibal' on True (with Thai subtitles) my wife wants to watch the earlier movies but really needs Thai to understand.

Have searched google and cannot find, any ideas please?

  2. Any suggestions please where I can find a young adult Irish Setter ..? Have big garden next to a rubber plantation Phuket, no roads nearby, experienced dog owner (had to leave my 14 year old Setter I had from a puppy in Spain before moving here, plus had other setters before), will be a pet and part of the family. Second choice would be a Golden Retriever or maybe a long haired German Shepherd.

  3. Thank you ubonjoe for your reply, I read many times your sincere and knowledgeable observations, do you know what I have to take with me to Phuket Immigration so I am fully prepared, if better to do whatever I have to do next week then I prefer to get done and finished with then and not wait until the last minute. Next of course will be to get a new 'extension of stay' for another year but I guess that will be a new question for later.

  4. My first year's 'Non O' Retirement expires 18 August which coincides with my passport expiry (only 2 weeks to get new from Bkk British Embassy Passport Centre, I collect on Tuesday) and next 90 day report. Should I then go to Phuket Immigration to get the visa stamp transferred or wait until August? Either way, any advice please re current immigration requirements? I have read earlier posts but confused re different opinions (Embassy letter, forms, etc)

  5. To save the long walk from and back (with heavy bag) to the new car park, I wonder if okay to pick up my gf outside the arrivals hall or will I get in to trouble with the taxi drivers?

The idea is to park outside the airport and wait for her to call me when she has her bag, so then I will drive in and it will be a 30 second stop and pick up.

  6. Thanks, will try Jungceylon tomorrow ...

Yes I know it a 2 year old phone and cannot do what a tiny percentage of new generation smartphones but I have all the internet access I need on my pc and laptop without triplicating everything.

Have tried using friend's smartphones on occasion and cannot even manage to make or receive a simple call or take a photo without pressing the wrong button and then I am lost as to where to start again.

Technology is advancing far ahead of me ...!!!

  7. I bought new for cash September 2012 in my Thai wife's name a Mazda 2 Sedan with 100,000 baht rebate from government (we have been paid).

We understood the car could not be sold for 5 years but have just heard it is possible to sell providing the rebate is returned to the government.

Is this true, and if so what is the correct procedure please (assuming we can find a buyer)?

  8. I understand all sorts of problems now with visa exemption runs overland re 'back to back' 30 day entries (especially Myanmar) but can anyone please confirm if the same applies to other neighboring countries or borders.

Or is it better and possible do do by air (ie: Phuket, KL, Phuket). Is air any different to overland re the new 'rules'?.

Am a UK citizen, here nearly 2 years, happily married to a Thai girl 6 months earlier and first lived in Europe (no problems for her visa to Europe), I'm over 50 years old.

Originally arrived with a 12 month non-o visa with 4 x 90 days in and out which gave me 15 months) since being doing 30 runs waiting for 800k funds from my home country (I do not work here) in order to apply for a retirement visa, I may have another 4/5 months before funds arrive. Your sincere advice will be very much appreciated, best wishes to all.

  9. Apologies for my lack of knowledge re correct terminology .... "in fact you have/had a Visa Exempt Entry which you got at a Thai Border, you get 15 days or 30 days, Visa Exempt, if you come from a G7 country".

Yes I come from a G7 country (UK), thank you for asking, please excuse my terminology, I came here last year on a multiple entry marriage to a Thai lady, 4+1x re-entry every 90 days but then the troubles started in Bkk & HKT with offices closed so I thought I couldn't apply for a retirement visa as planned (yes, I am over 50 years old) so though easiest to just come and go every 30 days until things settle down then can apply retirement visa.

Wish I hadn't started this now, only trying to help / advise others.I tried once before re being scammed, should have learned my lesson then. Deleting myself form thiswebsite. Good luck to all of you negatives whingers and whiners, be happy in your misery of having the privilege of living n this beautiful country as I do. If you don't like it here then go home.

  10. Today I was booked to go to Ranong for a 30 day tourist visa extension, I said in my post yesterday the visa run company phoned to say we have to go to Satun as there is a problem with Thai immigration at Myanmar.

A big thanks to the company informing in advance and changing today's route, so sorry if people stuck yesterday on the Ranong side and cannot return, that must be hell, what on earth do they do?

The Thai driver of the company confirmed above posts re more than 3 entries visa exemption but blaming it on the local mafia (he was there himself with a van load of clients turned around) but surely his comment re "mafia" is surely out of place unless some money has to change hands somewhere (don't understand as the Thai immigration makes no charge, only the Myanmar side with the crispy 10 US$ bill) ...?

Other than that, happy to say Satun went fine, a longer road journey but no "boat" transfer stress. But how about next month for the the so called "30 day tourist visa runners" ... what do they/ we do then?

  11. Absolutely no problems transferring overseas from Kasikorn UNLESS you try to set up on-line in which case they will ask you for the impossible information you mention. Just go in to your own branch, fill in the green form 'Global Outward Application', complete the details and enter the reason for transfer ie: family or if paying a bill attach a copy of an invoice which you can do yourself.

  12. Hello Nowhereman, I posted her online name, real name, skype, facebook, telephone number and bank account details on here more than once but each time deleted by the moderators (I didn't know the rules about publishing personal details and got told off). Also a link to a very detailed account about this woman (after I found out the truth).

I am not a troll, neither am I a liar, I'm a real person who's got taken for a fool and not ashamed to admit it in the hope others may learn from it. A lot of the online responses have been quite understanding and sensible, I have obviously touched reality and a nerve more than once.

  13. Thank you for all the positive, supportive and sensible responses. I swallowed my pride to come on-line to warn others who might fall in to the same trap, that's all.

Yes, with hindsight i was stupid, I have already admitted that so don't need the reminders + derogatory comment. She was very clever and convincing.

To witawatad one or two others, I am not a troll, not a liar, not writing a book. I have the girls contact details, online name, real name, bank account, etc which I posted here online not realising against the rules so deleted by the moderators, also reams of online correspondence from t...friendly website, skype and sms. Also, on the advice of one member (too late) I googled her real name and there she was with her history as a scammer, I got off lightly compared to others.

If I am writing in a similar style to someone else, i have no idea. Regards 18 previous posts, I made 'one' serious post in February concerning importing a drug called Zyloric from Spain because I couldn't find here, then I was philipinspain, now I am living here I changed to philipinphuket but both names are linked together on my profile which I didn't realise when I said this was my first post.

I would like to think my post has been helpful to some members but maybe a laugh to others, I repeat, all I was doing was to post a warning.

  14. Thank you A1, you make total sense, easy to think afterwards of the obvious but I thought her photos a little too good to be true, very delicate bone structure, small and very pretty. I guess you are all going to laugh at this but when I spoke to her on the phone her slightle deep voice didn't seem to match the photos, another thing that surprised me was her 100% perfect English, do many girls from Changrai have that? There were other pointers that I missed at the time but seem so obvious now.
