  1. We use a expat company that covers everything including damages, mechanical fees, servicing, driver cost (6 days a week), what the Thais call first class insurance and it sets us back 42,000฿ per month. The vehicle is a 2008 Altis.

We might be able to Organize all these things separately ourselves and save a few ฿ but I think we'd loose it in the end as we are only here for 2 years and then we'd have to sell the car.

Their email is [email protected] and they run tours on the URL www.toursinbangkok.com

Otherwise for car only I think the only option are the big names like AVIS. Though they are close to the same price on a monthly basis. Maybe you could negotiate direct with them?

  2. The guys at toursinbangkok are the cheapest we found.

    They promised to price match.

We went with them and it was smooth and they speak fluent English which didn't hurt!

    Very worthwhile trip :) :).

We also got an extra discount for presenting a Non-O visa but I don't know if that's the usual.

  3. We got sick of the kids traveling with Taxis.

Most drivers were great but there was some that were plain Drunk and we wouldn't realize til we got in the car.

We've chosen to get our own vehicle and driver. We got a fortuner on a two year lease with a driver and they take care of everything including insuance, mechanic and they supplied a baby seat.

If you want there email or website just send me a private message.

  4. Hi all,

My wife and I met in Australia where she had read on an ED Visa for 3 years. Ironically enough this is what is making it harder to get her partner visa.

Because she lived there for more than 12 months she needs a police check from Australian Federal Police. Who aren't being helpful.

The AFP here in BKK say they can't help me and the guys in Australia don't want to hear a word of it.

Has anyone got experience getting an Australian police check whilst overseas? What's the best way of doing it?

Thanks in advance for your help guys and girls.

  5. I think the shady bit in all of this is the compensation the operator expects. There's risk in everything and he should have insurance to cover incidents like this. The customer should not bear the burden of compensating him for loss of business and the cost of repairs. That's where it's going too far in my opinion.

No insurance company covers stupitity. Unless the tourist can prove the machine was at fault then he is most likely not covered.

If the customer was unable to pay at the time the insurance company may well pay the vendor, but make no mistake they would then go after the customer.

Either way the guy is going to pay cos lifes a B!tch

Insurance does cover stupidity. Otherwise your saying that it only covers things like birds dive bombing through the chassis or other natural occurrences?

What sensible action can be done by a tourist in this situation? With corrupt police is there a way to get justice?

Can you go to your embassy? Flee home without paying? Say "take me to court cause I aint paying"

What choices did this last have??

  6. Mark's comment is true for the most part, and with no slurs on anyone. Tell me how what he said is wrong.

Really...you think most normal healthy females that have been married for 20 years...or even less.....still go to bed in a towel ?

I can state first hand that mine does not and has not for 99% of our time together...in fact i could count on one hand the number of times she 'might' have done so.

You lot seem to think that there are no normal uninhibited girls out there.

Mark also has a horrible habit of big noting his times spent with bar girls and hookers.....like he is some kind of HookaLeaks source of universal know it all knowledge on them.......

Are you talking about normal, healthy THAI females, or western women? Mark and I are ONLY talking about Thai women. Western women ARE different in that regard and are usually less inhibited... delightfully so.

And, just how would you know what other women do if you have been married for 20 years to the same woman? ;) I don't know many married men to discuss the intimate details of their sex life, even with good friends. Women are more inclined to do that than men. Married men just say their love life is good or bad and leave it at that.

On the subject of how the majority of Thai women act in the privacy of their own home, I would believe a man like Mark who spent the past 20 years with a variety of working gals, before I'd believe a man who has been married to the same woman for 20 years.

I can only go by the few hundred Thai women I've been with during the past 15 years. I discovered, for the most part, that Thai women don't walk around naked anywhere... except in the shower. Of course, there are always exceptions, and I currently have a few that are quite uninhibited while with me, but they are the excceptions..

However, the original topic was about Thai working girls and their ingrained modesty. I first noticed it with a gal who put on one of those fake sex shows at a bar in Pattaya where she was totally naked in front of strangers. Then, later in the bedroom she came from the shower wrapped in a towel which she didn't take off until under the sheets. I just thought it a bit odd at the time, and later discovered it was quite normal for Thai females to act that way.

Is this self confessed player Mark?

  7. In the picture the girls all look very happy, most girls who suffer at the hands of Paediphiles even when smiling look sad. Mind you in the same photo they neither look undernourished or ill clothed. Could he have genuinely been helping these girls to compensate for his past sins? Have any of these girls complained about his behaviour?

I'm sure you can find many pictures in Ireland over the past 50 years of 'happy looking' children who were at the time being raped by members of the clergy.

Seems the Cambodian kids were living on rubbish tips -- food or new clothes would no doubt make the poor souls happy.

This guy sounds as innocent as gary glitter

    Lol Why Ireland?

Because there is so many Catholic churches?

  8. Wow, 50,000 baht is all to have someone wacked??

He'd be kicking himself when he found out in the newspapers that the guy had 22,000 in his pocket.

It's funny if they were that desperate for money there is so many better criminal activities available.

Why not just hold him up take his money, watch, phone and motorbike and then leave him there. Reckon they enjoyed the idea of being hitmen?

  9. Won't the human traffickers just start getting 49 year olds to help move the girls?

My lord it's a bad solution to a sickly problem.

They should just make the man live in Cambodia for six months with his new bride first - then the bride can leg it if he's a d1k and I doubt many old Korean men could handle living in Cambodia for 6 months.

I should be the foreign minister for Cambodia!!... I wonder if it pays more than $2550 per month?

  10. yes spot on KEEP AN EYE ON THE THAI WIFE !!! OR GIRLFRIEND !!!

AS EVERYONE KNOWS IN THAILAND YOU HAVE TO PUT IN A THAI PERSONS NAME

WHO BRINGS HOME THE BACON !!! THEY WANT IT THEMSELVES !!! WITH POSSIBLY THE HELP OF THE

SECRET BOYFRIEND ON THE SIDE !!! ABSOLUTELY 100 % NO CHANCE OF IT BEEN A ROBBERY AS HE STILL HAD

22,000 BT IN HIS SHORTS !! PHI PHI ISLANDS IS WELL TUCKED AWAY SO IT WILL BE KEPT QUIET !!! THATS WHY I FOR ONE

But if the bungalow is in her name anyway why would she kill him? Wouldn't a divorce be easier? It's legally hers all ready ye?

    Not the best conspiracy theory.

  11. It seems strange to me 4 shots, plenty cash in the shorts not in his wallet and a business in Phi Phi.

I know that too many expats do run cafes and we know who are the main customers and workers there.

Not judging, just let see what are the next opinions.....

I don't get it, what is strange? 4 shots? cash in the shorts? I keep my cash in my shorts, not a wallet, a business in Phi Phi? Is that strange? 22 000 baht is simply one trip to the ATM. Robbery is clearly not the motive, it seems this poor guy has upset someone. I hope the police catch the murderers quickly.

Can you get 22,000 out of an ATM.

Also I don't think they said he dent have a wallet just that the money wasn't in his wallet.

You'd think there would be better ways of robbing people.

I feel for his family and rest in peace.

  12. What about the GPS idea?

    It sucks. Get over it.

Lol at least you'd brighten the cabbies day - he'd probably go home pissing himself laughing that the GPS took the longest route possible. Plus how would you know if he is following the directions if you can't speak Thai?
