  1. Our company uses a group called Thai to Drive.

It's a bit up market and they're a registered company but the drivers are veterans, the cars are new and included and they have native english speaking account managers, cell rental and have always done well on turn around time etc.

I think they have a website but their email is [email protected] - I'd recommend you ask for Jimmy.

    Good luck

  2. Does that mean he's also 10 points down on the maturity development index?

I transferred from US school system to the British school system when I was mid-teens. Sorry to say, it felt like I was stuck with a group of 10 year olds.

Lol I'm Australian so no offense taken we love teasing the Brits but I'd rather take a coloring book to school than a 'gat'.

Plus your not even on subject? Hmm... Maybe you have a point about the education you received in the UK.

Sorry Brits but his blatant ignorance and stupidity makes a fairly good point.

Stay on point next time ye?

  3. Can someone give me one or 2 good stories about Pattaya that will erase the millions of negatives. They will have to be bloody tho. Almost everyday Pattaya throws up another negative never anything nice to be heard of this place.

The fact that you don't live there, reason #1. The fact that you don't visit, #2. Would be a bloody good enough reason for a lot of people.

I have visited there and some dirty old farang pedophille started hitting on my 13 yrs old daughter in the hotel and no it was not in the red light district it was in the 5% area which is not. So strike number 2 off. And strike number 1 off because I would not put her through that again and live there. Now my Question was can you give me 2 good stories comming out of Pattaya to erase the millions of negatives.

Never been there - but you not being there does kinda sound like a plus :)

  4. ..... and the lady went back to her stall to sell the porn dvd's i bet.

Some things you just couldnt make up in Thailand, how is it so acceptable to sell SEX and SEX DVD's but showing a bit of flesh on the beach or surrounding area is frowned upon. Is it one rule for Farangs and obne rule for locals here ?

lol anyone can buy sex dvd's not just thai's and no-one can sunbathe nude not just westerners. I think your point is their is a contradiction of beliefs, but maybe they believe that you wont project the sex dvd onto a 4x4 wall at the beach for all to see?

  5. I'm not trying to be a know it all, but I looked the border argument up on Wiki and it says that Thailand proof read and approved the submission (by Cambodian) of UNESCO world heritage listing for the disputed temple as a Cambodian icon not Thai - I don't understand how they can dispute the land after the fact?

And before anyone burns me, I know this is not the only land in dispute, but it seems to be what hits all the headlines... In saying that feel free to burn me on what I have said above, just like WIKI, I'm not always right :)

  6. Simple soultion. Get a new passport. Americans can renew there passport even if the old one is not expired. New passport + blank pages = no stickers to count.

I think that's what is being hailed as retarded - though I wouldn't use those words - but it's just not clear.what the rules are and whether they are stopping the right people or whether the rule is stopping people with legitimate reasons for coming in 3 times in 10 years. It's not just annoying for those people but it's not good for the suffering thai tourism industry.

  7. Hi all,

If your reading this you probably live in or around Lat Phrao... So do I :)

I moved here a few months ago and I'm looking for anyone who wants to get a coffee, have a game of tennis, go for a jog or even a beer.

My names Matt and I'm 24 you can add me on facebook - [email protected], just make sure you send me a message first so I know your not some random.

    Speak soon :)

  8. I've been here about five days now and have eaten from a few street people with mixed results.

All have been nice but some nicer than others.

They are a bit of a mystery to me though as the ones near me don't have any signs up and I can't really see what they are cooking due to the positioning of the carts so I just do a little mime show and get given a dish of something. One time they gave me the food in plastic bags which was good as I could take it home and eat it but another said what I thought was "takeaway?" to me and I said yes but she served it up in a bowl so I ate it at the table. It would be quite handy to know how to order eat in or takeaway as a plastic bag of food away from home isn't going to be much use!

I haven't seen any coconut curry dishes at any street people yet which I am quite disappointed about or any vegetable tempura - are these just western-Thai dishes?

Also like the Thai dish known as 'double Big Mac' which is something we don't have in England.

To get take away you can just say sai toong which means bag it.

I have my own questions - people say the fruit and veg is 'cancer ridden with chemicals' - how do you mean? I know in Australia the fruit and veg is coated in strong chemicals but you just give it a rinse and close your eyes - is it the same deal here?

  9. I asked a 3 wheeled taxi driver in su Zhou, china to take me to a place I could drink and dance (communicated through sherades) he took me to a brothel and when I insisted on leaving I got robbed (charged entry fee for walking in the door) by the only guy in su Zhou with fluent English.

But true to Chinese stereotypes I bargained them down to around $30

Ive also lost out buying 'real jade' - abt $20

  10. Come on guys that is 30,000 tablets and 4 kikos of heroin that are not on the streets anymore and unless you are a user you should be happy and congratulate the achievement no matter how it came about. Happy Christmas

Problem is this was probably a sacrifice willingly made by a high up drug lord that was told to keep his business in shape a couple of patsies would need to take a fall with a large amount of drugs so that they could look like they are cleaning up the streets and get the government off their backs. Works for both parties.

I mean do these kids look like they have the capital to fund this large purchase?

I mean it's not a bad thing but you can't just except it at face value and not acknowledge the obvious floors and bs. If you do your a sucker for an ignorant bliss and should buy share in a bar in Pattaya :)

  11. I went to the immigration department to ask about getting a non O visa for marriag purposes and they said it would be easier and I would need less documentation if I Did it from somewhere like Malaysia, but they didn't seem to know why it would be easier or what documentation I would need, does anyone know if it would be easier and what documentation I would need.

    Thanks in advance :)

You do not need any special visa to get married. After marriage a non immigrant O visa is available from any Consulate. Immigration can convert another entry to non immigrant in the process of one year extension of stay only so that would require you be married and meet the financial requirements (400k in bank two months or 40k per month income).

So if I'm married to a thai I just need money in the bank (thai bank?) and I can get a non-o 1 year visa from either immigration or a consulate?

    Thanks again :)

  12. Look at the Chinese success. It is a living proof that the Chinese system (permission is required to visit places outside one's Tambon) is working well. Without that, Chinese was in a backwater only decades ago.

Chinese success? Where in China have they succeeded in helping the poor off the streets? Where did you get this information?

I'm not saying your wrong but in my time in China I saw more beggars and prostitutes than in Thailand, but maybe that was just where I stayed or went or because of the larger population, I'm not sure but I still could not see the success.

Please don't take this offensively but feel free to let rip on me I would like to hear your thoughts!

  13. So will the government please send their officers into all the game shops in Pattaya and round up all the many street urchins who call the "game shop home"?

Lots of these kids are on yabba and usually have a gang leader who gets them to commit crime, push them into underage sex for money and whatever extortionist methods they can get away with.

I am serious about this and something "permanent" should be done about this huge (but mainly hidden) problem in Thailand.

i think to stop the bosses and urchins coming through you need to stop their source of income - if you arrest them others will pop up, the allure of money is to grand.

so maybe a crack down on the people who use these services - the buyers of underage girls, drugs and prostitutes in general.

Clamp down on the enablers (is that the right word?)

There is no point just "rounding up" street urchins, you can't just lock up anything that looks poor or plays video games or whatever profiling your suggesting, it's the money source that's the issue.

feel free to burn me :)

  14. You guys bitch about having more then 2 on bikes and helmet quality, you go pay for an extra bike or car and a nice helmet for a poor thai family then. They don't even have mosquetto nets or shutters and any toilets in the NE let alone these luxuarys.

    Get real.

I think you are missing the point - even the families that can afford will not buy. I live with a well off thai family and they laugh at me when I wear a helmet anywhere there most likely won't be police. The government has not educated the population on the benefits of helmets or seatbelts.

In Australia majority of the population will wear a helmet or seat belt even if they know there is no police around. I for example still use a seatbelt in the backseat of a car in Thailand.

Would you rather they die than cough up for a helmet - even a cheap plastic one would be Better than nothing? An d 90% of the population could afford this without flinching.
