  1. Plenty of hits with either spelling, and most of them have the same information which is her role in the Bond movie. I think the OP is looking for more than that.

I did spell her name wrong, I was watching the movie and got wondering what happened to this woman in life, what does she look like now, and the web was only giving me stuff about the film, not really info on her, thought some here at thaivisa might know an answer or two, sometime one can get good feed back that is'nt sarcastic in nature , so I thought I'd post the question.
  2. Fransoice Therry, Bond girl Chew Mee in the Man with the Golden Gun. All the info I find on the web is vague, nothing current on the woman or up to date photo, if you know more let me know, just being curious because there seems to so little info on this woman.

    • Thanks 1
  3. yes cold rolled, can get self tappers which make them easy as to fix.

cpac make good ones which are slightly thicker and stronger than the cheaper ones.

O.K sounds like some of you know the product, that's great. So the question is steel vs galvanized steel, the screw on type. I'm using cpac tiles, and around here steel welded is the prefered choice, but the screw on galvanized is showing up. So still looking for some imput , have any of you had experience with the screw on galvi steel.

  4. First of all can you actually purchase alloy purlins in Thailand ?

Secondly having alloy purlins with "All other parts are steel, rafters and such" there is a chance of galvanic corrosion at the joints if they are no adequately sealed from each other.

I would stick to steel purlins.

I'm fairly sure this stuff is aluminum, it might be galvanized steel though, I'll make sure. The locals call it zelie, phonetic spelling. You see this stuff at home pro, global house, and in most of the Cpac type adds. Thanks spoonman, get back to me

  5. Hello everyone, I'm building a house here in thailand, and I'm seeking some imput weather to use steel or the aluminum screw on type purlins. All other parts are steel, rafters and such. The aluminum is very appealing, saves painting, all the wields , and the repainting of all those wields, but unsure about the long term strength of the screws, or the strength of the aluminum in general.

  6. Sure a lot of negative comments in this thread.

Must say that my wife's four Tourist Visas were pretty easy, must also say, tho, that the last one was in 2006 before the appointment queue problem became so difficult.

One poster commented on "great difference in age." How about 20 years in our case, not a problem.

Stacks of documents? We also took a good stack but the only doc that was reviewed was my passport that showed a bunch of "retirement" extensions going back to 1998.

Back to my earlier posting, if YOU'RE pretty much fixed in place in Thailand, reckon there won't be a problem. If you've just completed your job and looking for another, and want to take the trip during the gap, could be troubles.

    Mac

Thanks alot, seventeen years in age, so that part sounds ok, She , we have children in thai as well, so someone to come home to if we can't take them. Anyhow, I'll take all of these postings into consideration, Thanks all

  7. The bank requirement for extension of stay is two months in account and there is no combination allowed. 400k in account 2 months or income of 40k per month.

Your one year visa only allows 90 day stays so hope you have been exiting/returning rather than just staying. Have to be sure as some have believed they did not have to do that.

During the last 30 days of any entry you can extend for one year if you meet the conditions.

To obtain a new multi entry non immigrant O visa locally is not as easy as in homeland as most Consulates will only issue single entry and expect you to extend at Immigration. So if you can not extend a trip to KL and show of 100k in bank account is likely the safe option currently.

I do my 90 day runs in and out, It's a non O visa, because I have thai spouse. This is not a marriage visa, no need to show funds in a bank, Yes I could get a marriage visa if I had the funds. So here I go again. Can I get a one year extension, we'll say Nong khai, or can i get a new one year multi entry visa in lao. I hope this clearifies some things, Thank again to all

  8. Forget all the pap. Just do longer visas and allow in-country extension.

WHen I arrived in Malaysia I was greeted by a smiling immigration man who stamped me in--free-for 90 days. As I marveled at this hospitality, he said "iI you want to stay longer, come back here--and I'll stamp you in for another 90".

When I went to the Thai consulate in December 2009 Penang to get a Tourist visa, the man told me I could not get one because, and I quote"You already have three tourist visas in your passport". "But friend, these are from 2008 and 2007!" "When will you go back to your home country?" I don't know, traveling for a couple of years." "Go back to America and you can get a Thai visa in 90 days".

Forget the runway extensions and hotel subsidies. Make people feel welcome when they meet an immigration official, and adopt visa policies that reflect this.

I agree with you 100%, good post. I and thousands of other have to leave every 90 days, spend our money on tourist visas to other countries just to turn around and come back to thailand, money that would have been spent in thailand.

  9. If one lives, say 45 minutes away from a hospital, in my mind that qualifies as "living within minutes of medical help". I didn't say anything about calling something like 911. I was simply trying to make a point that I did not want to live a couple of hours drive time to the nearest hospital.

Drear Sir, everyone seems to be giving good advise, but Isaan is a large place, and not knowing to which town, or area you will locate limits some answers. I live in a town of about 14,000, have a hospitle, of fairly good size, but if thing seem to be alittle more complicated we chose to go to the next town fifteen min. away by car, Which has an even larger hospitle. I live in nong khai provenence , so even knowing that,Which provence, can help others to give more defined answers. Good luck to you, and welcome to thailand.

  10. I use Wells Fargo Bank. I have repetive transfers set up and it costs me $15.00 per transfer. No limit to the amount. Bangkok Bank takes 500 baht on the transfer but the exchange rate is always good. I set this up before I came over here in 2007 and do it by phone not internet. Money is here in 1 or 2 days if you call first part of the week. Watch out for Thai holidays and weekends as this can cause several days of delay.

This is very promising about wells fargo, good fee and there is many well fargo banks here. In thai, my account is with kasikorn, and I'm not sure of how much they are taking per transfer. Like I replied earlier, I talk to wells fargo. thank

Hey, hello again, Good news, I found and joined a bank today that wires money for free, and I can do repetitive transfers over the phone. A happy guy I am !!

  11. A shocking problem.

Short of spending big money rewiring the place and re-spiking another earth point, wear shoes indoors. If you are in sandals, and hot and sweaty, you may still experiance electric shocks.

Yes, wearing shoe, I was always shocked by a ceiling fan, in a rental we had, the wife would scold me about not wearing shoes, well after a few shocks I learned my leason. Not to many things truely grounded I'm discovering.

  13. I know there is a lot of happy Farangs her in Thailand, but it looks like only the unhappy peaple share it. Its easy to write when you are angry and upset, when you are happy you do other stuff. whit your fam. I have lived here for 20 years and speak fluent Thai. I have good days and bad days, I think my famlie is average. I love my wife and she loves me, we are happy but we also have problems some times whit in laws but we solve the problems every time.

I have married a girl I love so I share my money whit here, I have not purchased a wife who only need food. I am shamed of many farangs who can not share there wealth whit in laws.Am not talking millions but daily living. Many Thai girls marrie for money, but they will fall in love whit you, they only want a better life like you think you get a better life whit a Thaigirl.

Isaangirls are poor, why will you marrie one if you want pay for them? Is the girl only a housemade for sex?

My understandings after 20 years in Thailand is that to many farangs are cheeeepCharlie NR.1 and only want a Isaansexslave for free.

Learn Thai and understand the culture and you will have a good life in Thailand, leave your farangbrain in farangland :)

Almost every time I se girls rip of farang housbond for house and money is becuse farangman have done stupid things and pissed of here famlie.

For sure OP will have a good life in Thailand, best luck:)

Thanks, I was'nt going to come back on again, but liked what you had to say. Yes being married is a family thing here in thailand, and giving to and loving that family is apart of life. When I married my wife I got a great family as well. I've rebuilt my father inlaws house after the 2008 flood, and this year he has work so very hard building our house. The whole family pitches in, weve all tied rebar, hauled rock and sand, mixed cement , you see we all put something into the building of the house, just like the relationships we share. Oh by the way, I look forward to the day I can speak fluent thai. thank, again

  14. No, my bank is not bangkok bank, and there is no citibank in my state. But, I have found two banks that will allow money transfers via phone with a password. That's probally the route I'll take. thanks for your response

Please share the names of your US banks that will transfer money via phone with a password ?

Are you referring to allowing you to SWIFT wire transfer or EFTS (electronic funds transfer system)?

Hello, I did some checking, Alaska usa, tells me they can do the transfer ( swift) over the phone as long as the account in thai is mine. Hey, that is great news for me. Makes living in thailand so much easier. Last year, the atm charges from thai banks just did'nt jiv with exchange rates, stealing comes close to my lips. Ok well if you have some other ideas write again. see ya

  15. First question, is your Thai bank account Bangkok Bank? If you can do online ACH transfers.

Second question, is your US bank citibank? They allow online SWIFT transfers although for at least the first attempt they will probably put you throw an intense security question session to verify your identity.

I am talking of both accounts being in the same name, your name.

No, my bank is not bangkok bank, and there is no citibank in my state. But, I have found two banks that will allow money transfers via phone with a password. That's probally the route I'll take. thanks for your response

  16. Just one piece of advise. Unless you register your marriage at The Amphur you are not legally married.

Yes, well the marriage was registered, over a year ago, thai wedding nearing two years now. The wife has my name on the passport and everything is square. It was nice to read all of the post, sounds like there are a lot of guy scattered around with happy marriages, enjoying life, family life in Isaan.

  17. I wrote this post because I was in a good mood. I read Thai visa everyday, great source for guys living in thai. I read many postings about the negetive, wheather it's the girl that did some wrong thing to her guy, or the scam and corruption. Yes, I can tell some of my own , but I have found in Isaan, a good life, with good people, as I'm sure others have too. I wanted to share a little of that , and to those that have'nt found that great girl in thailand, maybe it's because your looking in the wrong place. Sometimes we see and get what we are looking for. What are you looking for, because I found it in a small Isaan town.

  18. Liking isaan, and my new family very much. I met my wife on thai lovelinks . After a four month phone courtship I was standing in my wifes home with one hundred fifty people attending our wedding, yes we had never physically met before. We were both very nervous, and had some times of tears. We read thailand fever everynight, side by side, understanding each other and cultraul difference along the way. We tried some buisness, traveled around, made friends, went to weddings, funnerals and temple. I married a great girl with two kids, that have become my own and a mom and dad that are loving caring, hard working people. The relatives are wonderful sharing and inviting. Ok, this is my cindarella story, but in reverse , but for my wife and I it is just destiny. Yes, there is so much more to tell, and perhap in another forum page I will. Thai's love to display their gold , well this is mine, and my wife is a real jewel. Tom near Si Chiang Mai.

  19. Hello, I'm new to some of this, but here are some ideas. If money in a bank is an issue, Go to lao, to thai embessy, apply for another O visa, based on your mariage, no money in bank needed for a spouse visa. The only drawback is having to cross the border every 90 days. I do this myself and it does add up, money I would rather spend in thailand on my family. Ok well good luck

  20. Hi, I live in Si chiang mai. When you get to the 7-eleven, turn right on one of the soi to the river, great boardwalk for a couple of miles, some resturaunts too. There

's alarge tree half way down the boardwalk in front of a tempel, the lady there, under the tree makes go noodles. Have fun, yes the ride is good. You will be amazed on how the mekong changes up river.
