  1. I did similar last month. 1st passport for our 6 year old and 2nd passports for our 15 year old twins. The process was flawless. II think it took about 10 days from application to when they were available for collection. They have a very slick operation going on there at Trendy.

I hope I'll be able to say the same when we get the result for my wife's 6 month tourist application we applied for a few days ago. That process was very fast too. Way better than the 4 hour debacle we endured 7 years go at the old place.

  2. I've been doing this for 15 years (although working in Australia). All you need is an understanding employer who would rather take you back every year than lose you alltogether. Maybe not so easy to find but if you work hard and are loyal then there's no need for luck.
I also have two mates in the next village who have been doing it in the UK for longer than me. Sometimes they have to work 8 months but they come back here with coin and relax. New cars and thier own pools. It's very do'able. The hard part is being away from the kids for such a long time but I sure make up for it when I'm home.

  4. Local governor, the police, army, airport people. Seems different branches can work together..........for a photo op.

I'm surprised they didn't pinch her due to a tip. She must have looked nervous as I rarely see anyone getting pulled for a baggage check at customs.

Same here, I've landed in BKK intl about 45 times in the last 15 years and never been pulled. I once brought a large telescope and mount and all they asked was if it was new or used. Didn't even open the box.

  5. "Meanwhile, haze-affected air quality recorded in Chiang Mai provincial seat today remains at a health-affecting level...The DDPM has ordered local units to carry out water mist spraying operations to help reduce airborne particles in a manner which does not affect water allocations and to make available supporting machinery to combat disasters, at the DDPM’s local offices."

Once again, closing the barn door after the animals have escaped. Perhaps eliminating the situation that is necessitating the use of the limited amount of existing water would be a better solution.

Here's a novel idea...How about catching the offenders who are causing most of the haze by burning every bit of vegetation that exists. Then arresting them and fining them enough money, so that they will think twice before ever lighting another fire again?

I went out on the balcony around 3am for some lunar and planetary imaging. Around 3.30am someone came from nowhere and started a fire in the field next to us. By 4.30am the blaze was out, job done and the guy was nowhere to be seen. Clearly he was deliberately doing this at a time when he knew he would least likely to be caught.

Meanwhile there are nightly fires blazing on the top of Kao Luang Mountain (National Park) that I see all the time from my balcony. Sadly I don't think this problem will ever go away.

  6. I do lots of long walks and dogs are easy to deal with. Even packs of 10 or more. Carry a pocket full of small stones. Pretend you are throwing one at them and that usually does the job. If not then just throw one and then pretending after that normally works.

Once you get past them look out for that single sneaky fekker that quietly tries to get you from behind.
I also adopted a throaty and short Hrggh sound that Thai's make to deter dogs and it too works very well. That said I also carry a telescopic and hollow chrome baton that I got from a Big C stall for about 300 baht with a handy belt pouch but thankfully I've never had to use it. Just good for peace of mind.

    Hope this helps.
