  1. Not really Mr. Pianoman, but...

If you live closer to an embassy than to an immigration office, it is easier to get the residence form from the embassy.

If you live closer to an immigration office than to an embassy, it is easier to get the residence form from the immigration office.

If you live closer to an immigration office than to an embassy you are lucky, because you save the western level oriented fees embassies charge. The amount you save might be enough to buy a nice pair of long pants. And you won't have to embarras the Thai people with your bare knees anymore.

All together we might conclude that it is much easier to obtain a driver license in Thailand than in Europe. As far as I know it is quite easy in America as well. At least you had driving-license-tourism from Europe to America. I don't know if that still exists.

Here in town we have an examination field of about two rai. One of the signs you are supposed to stop at is a warning for a railroad-crossing.

The friendly examinator tells you that it is a sign you have to stop at. Because the nearest railroad is more than twohundred kilometers from here. Tjoek-tjoek, tjoek-tjoek, tjoek-tjoek, ah.... railroad!

    Keep to the left!

Wow,cool mr.limbo.first of all in germany u make a Dl for lifetime, second,it does make many problems if they send u from A-Z,probably u have nothing better to do,or u live near an immigration,i would assume a bit more understanding from ur side would be a nice way that find some friends, have a nice day

  2. wowwwww.i got it,i went again to Pattaya immigration, with the same papers i had last time, but different officer[an older lady, very nice]after 30min i got my certificate of residence,im happy ,but it really pisses me off that if u come to the wrong officer ,he will make ur day, same sh.. happened with my visa stuff, really boring, jajaja,if i dont like it i can go,!anyways thanks for the help

  3. Was told that if it's 2 April on licence then new licence will be issued on 2 April. When I went back on that date with my Immigration certificate had no problem.

Astral. If he has an O multiple like me he doesn't report.

Hi Dragonman,i went again today the DL office with a good Thaifriend, they asked for workpermit or if i dont have one for the that certificate of residence,im Non O 1yr multi holder,so after all i have to go to the embassy get that paper and then tranlate into thai,im just wondering, isnt there a law what says if i move i have to report to the immigration? So i didnt report so i would say it is logical that i still have the same addres, and they should have it in their computer,so i need to show the renting contract for what again, and why do they need the housepapers this time?Whatever, better shut up and do what they want,i know if i dont like it here i can go

  4. Hi dragonman,i went to the DL ofice in Chonburi but went to the Immigration in Pattaya,so u mean u just took your renting contract to the Immigration?I have in all in thai language, signed by the owner,it says since when i stay there and how much rent i pay,but like i said Immigration in Pattaya said it is not enough

Suggest you see your friendly embassy and get a certificate of residence there against payment of the equivalent of 25 Euro.

Your name indicates that you are German. Fill in a simple form at the embassy featuring your name and your address of residence and have the certificate issued in about 20 minutes. No need to even show a renting contract. Place to go: German Embassy on Sathorn Road, Building No. 3, counter C.

When entering the embassy tell the Thai guy sitting at the receptionist desk that you need to get a certificate of residence issued (Wohnsitznachweis). This document with your embassy stamp should do the job to get your Thai driving license renewed (go for the 5 year option).

Good luck and don't mind the long queue presently lining up in front of the embassy due to the reconstruction work inside.

Hi Richard, thanks for ur answer, but i dont like that idea that much, first of all i live 20km outside Chonburi,to Sathorn it is about110km from here it takes about 2 to2.5 hours one way,the costs for that document are 1250baht +translation into thai about 500baht,im not a kinjao, but i think everything should have a limit,i wonder what guys are doing who are living in Condominium or rented or hotelroom for longterm,i really think there should be an easier and cheaper way to do that.
  5. Last week i tried to renew my thai driving license,i took 2 pics, copy of the visa page, copy of the photo page and my old thai DL,but was told it is not enough documents, they told me i need certificate of residence from the immigration,i thought "Wow"on the phone they didnt mention it,so i went to the immigration with the renting contract of my house where im living,Immigration said sorry this is not enough, they want to see the housepapers and id card of the owner from the house, the owner of the house is at the moment not reachable,so how to do??????And when is the last date i can renew my ThaiDL?I would be very thankful for any help

  6. Does anyone here have any experience with non Imm O visa for support of a thai child.

I have had 2 Imm O visa issued from another country, I do not wish to return to this country now just for a renewal of a visa that is due shortly.

I was told that because I now have a thai child, born in Thailand, I can get this visa issued here. I am not married to the mother, although we have been together for many years.

I was advised to go to the local Amphur for where the child was born and get the document required for this. Well, basically they knew nothing about it and usual i left the building empty handed and unimpressed with things as usual.

Has anyone actually gone through this process as I mention, remember, NOT MARRIED.

Hope someone can shed just a little more light than the thai authorities, just a little, not to much, just enough to get by and get the job done. Thanks.

Hi,i just finished all the paper stuff last year, hmmm it is important to know how old is ur kid,if ur kid is old enough that it can talk and understand the questions from the Ampher,[they would ask ur kid if ur the father and stuff like that]if ur kid is to small to understand u need to take a lawyer and go to the courthouse takes about 2-3 months ,cost about 10-15000baht if everything is fine u will be under thai law the father of ur kid in thai language the name of the document is biraprongbood or slang bilaplongbood,ok have fun, ohhhh i forgot if u dont have 400000baht in ur bank or pension or anything, then forget all, immigration doesnt care if ur the father of a thai citizen as long u dont have money
  7. First of all, jaja i know i should use the search engine,i did so for the last 30 min,but didnt find anything clear.

Ok my current Thai DL [the first Thai DL] will expire on March 31st,i would like to renew it and get a 5years DL,now my questions

    1.DO i need a letter of residence?

    2.If i need a letter of residence,where to get it.1.Local Ampher?2.Local Policestation?Immigration?

3.what do i need to get that letter of residence?

4.Do i need a health certificate or not?

5.My current Thai DL will expire on march31st,so will i get a 5 year extension of it if i go exactly on March31st,or do i have to go there later?

6.if later, how many days later is acceptable for the Transport office?im asking because on April1st i go on vacation to Malaysia for a week,so i wont be back in Thailand before April 8th.

Ok guys thanks in advance for any help

  8. His stay ends on Feb 24 but he does not leave until April 6 and he needs to renew his driver licence in March so must be on a non-immigrant visa at that time so believe he should try to obtain a new O visa from Penang but have not idea if he has any chance of getting it from information provided.  If not just get a tourist visa and don't drive between the 31st of March and April 6?  Then get new licence when here again on a non-immigrant visa.

Hi Lopburi, thanks for answer, and thr driving license office they told him if he is not coming on March31st they will not give him a 5 year license, right now he is on a 1year license,so i guess he has to go to Penang again, hmm

  9. a friend of mine has a 3months single entry Non O visa it expires on feb24th,on april 6 th he is leaving Thailand to germany, his problem is he needs to extend his driving license on march31st,so what is the best way for him to do,go out to Penang get another Non O 3 M or what to do?thanks for any suggestions

is he right now here on this visa? then it is used, and the question is, what date has he got to leave? if he still has this visa unused, get out and back in on it, this gives him the necessary three month. :o

[/quothe got that visa in november in penang, went back to Thailand, and didnt go out anymore,so he is still on that 3months visa what expires on feb.24th

  10. hi Lopburi,ur 100% right, but where u can get that information on the immigration website, arent u the guy who always said this immigration side is the only place where u can get 100%information?hmmm i think u should think about it again

Unless you are employed here would not try to use combination of funds/income - the income has to be paperwork from your Embassy if you do use it.  Easier to just show the 400k each year at extension time for most people.

So am I correct in stating that this is different from the retirement visa? My understanding up to this point was that I could easily meet the monthly income requirement for a retirement visa, but since my wife is Thai (dual U.S.) that it would be cheaper/easier to go the marraige visa route. But I don't know about being able to accumulate 800KBaht (or even 400)- saving money isn't part of my make up :o

    Perhaps you should learn? :D

Immigration is not going to be very happy without some money in the bank for either type of extension of stay. For retirement you have the option of O-A obtained in your home country which would not require any money in a Thai bank the first year but later you are going to have to live by what your local immigration office wants to see. And they may want more than a statement from your embassy.

Most of us feel it is prudent to keep a cash supply handy in case of emergency and it only has to be full one time each year.

  11. To get a Class O visa, just go to Thai diplomatic post with copy of marriage certificate and signed copy of wifes ID card and house registration, anbd they will give you the visa.  With that, you can enter Thailand with a non-immigrant entry permit, which will initially be valid for 90 days.

If you are talking about getting a long-term extension to that entry permit on the basis of supporting a Thai spouse, then what you need to do is open  Thai bank account beraing your apssport name, and remit into that account from overseas an amount of at least 400,000 baht - and do so each year.

Money overseas does not count.  Money withdrawn via ATM does not count.  All that counts (unless you have legal income from legal  employment within Thailand) is - exactly - documentation of 400,000 baht remitted from overseas into a Thai bank account bearing your passport name.

So - bring over 400,000 baht - and then live by spending that down.  Meanwhile, each year, accumulate a fresh 400,000 baht in an account overseas, which you can then trigger to wire money to your Thai account.  Once you have that amount prepositioned overseas, then you can revert back to living off ATM withdrawals, using fresh overseas income.  But - in advance of applying for annual renewal of your extended entry permit, wire the next 400,000 baht to your Thai account.  You can continue this pattern forever.

I is not worth the effort to fight this.  Just go along with it.

    Cheers!

    Steve

    Indo-Siam

Hi Indo-Siam,but this is not what the immigration website says,it says thaibank or income certified from oversea,or evidence of income with related papers, anywyas i know this website is bullshit, but u seem like u know that so i would appreciate it if u could tell other people

  12. Hi Lopburi here we go again,i cleared my problems already, but i really cant say any good about immigration, anyways if u look in the topic timbuktu or thailand, that a friend of mine has also problems, and not because of inproper papers or not enough money, whatever i calmed down already, here is amazing thailand, and i know i have to do what my heros from immigration are telling me to do

  13. hi,better give him my email address i can tell him exactly what papers and other stuff he needs, the website from immigration specially in this in incorrect, and he probably needs to go there many times depending on the mood of the immigration,i just finished all my paper stuff in november,i have a 3year old daughter with my thai gf,i extented my visa for the first time, anyways if ur friend doent have enough money in a thaibank[400000baht] or income he will get problems to extend his visa and will probably get problems to get 1 year non"O' multi visa [email protected]

  14. Hi Lopburi, sorry ur wrong, example it says, bankbook, statements, blabla,"or"proof of income, again "or",so that means for me u have a bankbook "or"other proof of income, also why not tell the people to bring eveything what they want,im sure the people will bring what they want,so they dont have to go there 2,3 or more times,is that so hard? And sorry i think u dont get the point,ok he or she has the right to ask for additional documents but then please when i go an additional time there i dont want them to require another document,so again, write all the documents they need or might need on this webisite, and people will be thankful and happy

  15. Luckily it is not my problem anymore,i solved my problems in November,i just tried to help a friend,my friend is thinking now im totally stoned how i can tell him so much bull shit,in my case they wanted a guaruntee paper for my daughter, but not a bank book in at a thaibank, fine for me i brought what they wanted,in his case, the birth certificate was enough, but not the document from german embassy what is saying how much pension[65000baht per month],so also in my case they wanted a health certificate,in his case not, ohhhhh whatever

  16. Some questions, the website http://www.imm3.police.go.th/eng/index.html,belongs to which country,if it is thailand,is it really from the Royal Thai Police,or is it just a guy who made a joke?Anyways i talked to 5 people from the immigration 3 of room 102,nobody of them knows that website.and by the way if there would be really an official website of the immigration, then it would be meaningless, because right is what an immigration officer is telling u,and not any website from internet.oh before i forget, the informations on this website are not complete or wrong special about requirements for foreigner to extend their visa[sometimes they are sometimes they not,i guess depending on the mood of the immigration officer]Example:http://www.imm3.police.go.th/eng/application.html#04

in this case they forgot to write that a birthcertificate is not enough,or that u need a health certificate,or that depending on the officer a document certified by ur homeland embassy about ur pension is sometimes enough and sometimes not.

And if u have all they want,u dont have to worry they will find something else to make ur day,ok enough i live over 4 years here and i know about all those stuff, but sorry to say that,it really pi..... me off, that at the immigration here is nothing sure or certain, and i would really love to know why it is like this,i think if a guy have the required papers then leave him alone and give him his visa, and if not then tell him waht kind of papers more he needs, but without changing the rules weekly or daily, and im curious isnt there any plalce here where somebody can complain about immigration doing without getting kicked out of the country?

  17. ...well i'm really sorry that this happened but this women was a "barlady" and she wanted to steal money from me. i not punched her, i just slapped her. all this was not so bad as it sounds....she provoced me and finally she wanted a lot of money from me to remain silent. i didn't gave her money and she went to the police...

Firstly, you should never hit a woman. And if she try to provoke you, you should have walked away and gone to another bar - you're an IDIOT !!

u should watch ur language, there are laws here in Thailand that can bring u into prison for insulting somebody,i remember a few years ago same shit happened to me,a barlady drunk as a skunk started arguing at the end she wanted to hit me w ith a bottle over the head, and that all for beeing cheap charly and not buying her lady drink, after 6hours monkeyhouse and a bill of 6000baht i was free to go,hope something like that will not happen to u,happy new year

  18. on dec30th i want to go to extend my visa, now i was reading that they want a health certificate,my questions are,is it enough to get a certificate from my village doctor,or they want it from a big hospital, and what has to be inside that certificate,i mean what they want the doctor look for, thanks for any help, happy new year for all

  19. I had a dream last night!I woke up one morning and i was the only foreigner in Thailand, wow, all the americans, australians and europeans residents were gone,it was a sad dream and a bit scary too,my neighbors wife came to me and asked me what to do?she said"how can i raise the children, pay the bills"?The phone was ringing,it was the sister of my wife, she asked us to send her some money, because she needs to buy rice, and she will pay it back soon as she found a job in Burriram,10 minutes later another sister called and asked me "now that all the foreigners gone will the government take care me"?I said"sure they will, they know what they doing and why they scared all the foreigners away, and dont worry they are also foreigner from neighboring countries who look for Thailady"Next morning I went to Pattaya to have some fun, wowwww how scary some restaurants were closed, the city looked real empty, and again my phone was ringing it was my friend Peter who usually came 3times a year to Pattaya,he called from Makati{Manila],he asked me why not go there, real fun place bars are open around the clock, and if u married with a phillie lady the immigration let u live in peace,i thought wow,i asked"isnt it to dangerous overthere if u go out in the night"?he said"if u act normal and go to normal places it isnt to bad"

6 months later i was still dreaming,my friend from Germany called me and said"Hey next months i come to Thailand ,the government changed their attitude, now u can buy land if ur married with a Thai, and u just have to go once a year to the immigration and tell them where u stay, and they also stopped the double pricing, and guys who are not 55years yet just have to show that they can survive in Thailand,by pension or lotterie win,or wherever the money comes from,"I thought wow what a change,in the evening another friend who left also to the Phillies was sending me an email showing an advertising in a Cebu newspaper,it was from Thaigovernment saying"Please dear foreigner come back to Thailand the people in Isaan are needing houses and money for food, and now u can open a company very easy not much paperwork and u can own it for 100%,and we also stop blaming foreigner for anything what goes wrong in Thailand"

ouchhhh my beloved wife kicked me and i woke up and thought what a dream
