  1. This should be in News clippings but it wont let me post there

    NZ Herald Oct 19

A new missing persons investigation is under way in Auckland whwrw fears are growing for the sofety of a 49 yr old Manurewa woman.

Police yesterday released a photo of Darunee Aphiromlerk who has not been seen since Oct 3.

Ms Aphiromlerk is originally from Thailand but has been living in NZ for several years running a property business.

WOMANS DISAPPEREANCE TOTALLY OUT OF CHARACTER

  2. Read on another site a mention of Isaan Strings ( Fi Pook Kaan )

When over there saw several BG's with string tied around the wrist and wondered what for but didn't ask.

Anyone out there know the significance?

  3. The other night I was invited out for a night with "the girls." I told my

husband that I would be home by midnight, "I promise!" Well, the hours

passed and the champagne was going down way too easy. Around 3 a.m., drunk

as a skunk, I headed for home.

Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up &

Cuckooed 3 times. Quickly, realizing he'd probably wake up, I cuckooed

another 9 times. I was really proud of myself for coming up with such a

quick-witted solution (even when smashed), in order to escape a possible

    conflict with him.

The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in,

& I told him 12:00. He didn't seem disturbed at all. Whew! Got away with

that one! Then he said, - "We need a new cuckoo clock." When I asked him why

he said, "Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, "Oh

shit," cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another 3 times,

giggled, cuckooed twice more, and then tripped over the cat and farted.

  4. Hi all

Robby here I started all this and it has been a big help

Don't intend to get over there till next year, have to get all my ducks (or bucks) in a row first, getting the good oil from here and other sites is all part of the planning process.

Will have other questions later but will start another thread for that.

Sad how many of you have to have a pick at each other, hope that isn't a consequence of living in LOS, have to try and avoid it if it is

    Thanks Robby

    Advice

Any two or more contradictory statements contained in the same phrase or sentance

  5. Amazes me how many of you posting on this board take shots at each other, lucky you only have keyboards nor AK's

What I find it hard to comprehend is how anyone could have enough hate to do things like Indo and Russia, the images coming out of Beslan were truely horrific and how anyone could have the viciousness and inhumanity to do these things is beyond my understanding.

guess it can now happen anywhere

  6. Didn't realise I would get all this attention, thanks again , some good info in all these replies.

looking at HH as the place to be but will do another month over there next year before making any decision

Have no problem with the 800K or the 50+ and reckon without all the self employed business costs I have here I probably live (alone) on the equivelant of B30k so it shouldn't be a problem over there. Don't drink, smoke of gamble, no ambition to own a car over there but a bike ? Shouldn't need mant flash clothes... unless Thanksin invites me on his plane

Found I could get a good farang feed in HH for under B200 and get by on under B100 for Thai

Seems it will depend on finding the right accommodation and how often I want to do the B/G thing

Wondered how ozzies got on for sex over there without sheep, buffalows would be a bit high off the ground but I did see a goat on Koh Tao.

Found a Thai phrase that means the same in English.......Mai tsjorb krap

  7. Been reading the Min wage postings and wondering if any expats are willing to give me a ball park number as to monthly living costs over there with or without G/F

Planning a move to HH next year on an O retirement visa and trying to do some sort of a budget.

Also considering medical insurance, is there such a thing over there, if so what sort of cost?

  8. This could all change soon

    Brussels policy document 567/90/MN

The European Union Commissioners have announced that an agreement has been

reached to adopt English as the preferred language for European communications,

rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the

negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that there was some room for

improvement and has accepted a five year phased plan for what will be known as

    Euro-english or "Euro" for short.

In the first year "S" will be used instead of the soft "C". Sertainly sivil

servants will resieve this news with joy. Also the hard "C" will be replaced

by"K". Not only will this klear up konfusion, but keyboards kan have one less

    letter.

There will be growing publik enthuisiasm in the sekond year, when the

troublesome"PH" will be replaced by "F". This will make words like "fotograf"

    20 per sent shorter.

In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to

reach a stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will

enkorage the removal of of double letters which have always been a deterent to

akurate speling. Also al wil agre that the horible mes of silent "E"s in the

languag is disgrasful, and they would go.

By the fourth year, peopl wil be be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "TH by

    "Z" and "W" by "V".

During ze fifz year se unesesary "O" kan be dropped from vords Kontaining "OU"

and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of of leters.

After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor

trubls or difikultis and everun vil find it ezi to understand ech ozer.

ZE DREM VIL FINALI KUM TRU.

  9. Am looking at moving to Thailand for a few years, can meet the requirements of a retirement visa no problem but would like to get a small business, guest house, bar etc to have a small income.

Would like to do this properly with a work permit, If I arrived under a RV would there be many problems getting a WP?

Also I understand about setting up a limited Co but what are the requirements of a partnership?
