For your heart rate to go that high there is something very wrong and it's not the cigarette. If I were you I'd get it checked out unless you were 'vaping' while doing strenuous exercise.

Heart rate can increase by 5 or 6 bpm according to studies done.

    This http://jaha.ahajournals.org/content/6/9/e006353#ref-41 cites this : https://academic.oup.com/ntr/article/15/1/267/1096105

This is less of an increase than you would expect from a reqular cigarette.

I did get it checked out. Nothing wrong other than I stopped e-cigarettes and no reoccurrence in 2 months.

E-cigarettes associated with increased blood pressure, heart rate, and arterial stiffness, study reveals

I can concur with this. I used e-cigarettes until recently. I have a watch which has heart monitor on it and noticed that my heart rate went sky high 156-165 after using it. I didn’t feel it myself but watch picked it up and when I downloaded to my App was horrified.

Literally the next day after I stopped heart rate now normal and no reoccurrence.

How many people are smoking e-cigarettes and don’t know this is happening to them?

might be healthier on the lungs but not the heart.

A lot less than paying an annual insurance premium, and as they believe they will never be involved in an accident, many take the chance.

In reality, none of the fines are an actual deterrent, and unless the numbers are greatly increased, the mess that is on Thai roads, will continue indefinitely.

They only have to purchase the compulsory government insurance which is only about Baht 600. Most Thai’s who are insured only have this. The rest nothing.

UKVI have to follow the immigration rules for the type of visa applied for. Those rules are set by Parliament.

Yes, EEA nationals have freedom of movement rights in the UK, as do their qualifying non EEA national family members. Just as British nationals and their qualifying non EEA national family members have in the other EEA member sates. Of course, post Brexit this will probably change.

Please explain how your wife's sister, presumably also Thai, can get your wife a visa to live in the UK when you, presumably British, can't. Non EEA national siblings are not automatically qualifying family members, although they can be counted as such in certain circumstances, e.g. if they are totally financially dependent upon their non EEA national sibling and that sibling's EEA national spouse.

The freedom of movement directive does not apply in the member state of which the EEA national is a citizen; unless Surinder Singh applies.

Did I say live in the UK? I can't get her a visit visa but her sister can get her a visa as a member of her family.

  5. I was woken by at 4.00 by a noisy neighbour who decided to have a party when he got back from work. I took my 2 fully grown Alsatian dogs next door with me and asked if I could join the party seeing as they had woken me up. They were shit scared of the dogs and funnily enough he hasn't had any more parties at that time of the morning and now keeps the noise down.

The other problem which has come to light is that the fee's disappear! Pii Pii Island being a good example.

I arrived at Khao Yai, Korat on a motorbike, with my ex, a Filipino lady, they demanded 800 + the bike fee. There was no way they knew she was not a Thai lady. I am sure there are two books of tickets, the reported and accounted for tickets and "black" income tickets.

At the very least the country should find a way of discounting year long visa expats. Proof you have a marriage, retirement or work visa should allow local prices. But in fact and two tiered prices i feel is wrong.

In the past I have shown my work permit to Government run venues and others such as Sri Racha Tiger Zoo, Erawan Museum, Mueang Boran and been charged the Thai price and more recently I have used my Farang Pink ID card to enter places like Pattaya floating market where it is free for Thai but Baht 200 for Farang and got in free. If you are a long term Farang resident then get the ID card it's so much easier and stops you getting high blood pressure :)

  7. It depresses me to see so many jaundiced views on TVF, sure there are many horror stories but there are many who have found a good partner and never reach these pages, they get on with their lives and enjoy themselves instead of whinging about others misfortunes, makes me wonder why so many still stay here in Thailand and not go back to their home land, I'm sure their life there is much better, or maybe not thats why they are here.

  8. Officially yes, bars will all be closed. However, as always on the Buddha days if you look around you'll find places that are open and serving beer out of coffee mugs. No lights or music though, so you have to be pretty desperate to want to drink out on those days.

Or an active alcoholic, which accounts for most of the people starting these threads over and over again.

For goodness sake, how can closed bars for 2 days on a Mon and Tue be a problem to any normal human being?

  9. Thanks for the feedback I will have a look at that. My ITV & BBC TV apps on my iPad are working correctly as was the BT sports App until last weekend but is now being blocked. BT are a telecommunications company so if anyone can monitor and block VPN lines they can. I have heard rumours that Netflix are also looking at doing the same to prevent people using their apps overseas. Thin edge of the wedge and the end of VPN?

  10. Set my cruise control to 89

Not giving him a chance to speak first I asked in Thai why I was stopped & that I had set my speed control to 89Km so there was no chance of speeding.

No one was speeding so they obviously needed to try & get their tea money by other means.

Question. Isn't the speed limit in Bangkok 80? So by setting your cruise control to 89! Just asking.

Any "traps" I have found are usually always in the same place so...

  11. Got pulled on Dong Mueng Tollway last Friday. Was warned by on coming cars of speed trap usual place at DM exit.

Set my cruise control to 89 & stayed in left hand lane. Paid my toll & was on my way when they noticed I was a Farang so pulled me over.

Not giving him a chance to speak first I asked in Thai why I was stopped & that I had set my speed control to 89Km so there was no chance of speeding. Told him if he wanted to check my passport, Drivers Licence etc he was welcome to do so.

He just said oh you speak Thai and said thank you goodbye. No explanation why I was stopped.

I have lost count how many times I have stopped at this speed trap.

No one was speeding so they obviously needed to try & get their tea money by other means.

  12. Been going to St Louis for over 10 years. Never needed a second opinion their Drs are second to none.

Diagnosed stenosis of the spine which I had been to UK hospitals about many times and they never found it.

Operated on my spine within 2 weeks. If in the UK I would still be waiting for MRI let alone the operation. They had me back on my feet within 24 Hrs and back home within a week.

    Never let me down yet.

If you doubt one Dr there are others you can request a consultation with.

  13. those times are long gone.

from my understanding, no honorary consulat will issue a B-Visa nowadays without a valid work-permit or at least a signed work-contract. That is for a SINGLE entry. I don't think ANY consulat will nowadays issue a multiple-entry non-B based on just a recommendation-/sponsorship-letter and a "declaration of intent" to employ somebody.

Hull will definitely not, and most other consulats in Europe won't as well.

they were all in hot water during the past 12 months over their very "liberal" issuing of B- and O-Visas

Hull definitely will issue Non B visa. I've got one in my passport from last October. Just needed a letter from the company I was going to work with and a letter from my own company.

BTW the Thai letter wasn't even signed but they accepted it and gave me the visa on the understanding I would email them the signed copy.

    Very helpful and understanding.
