  1. "If you were to let us know where you are located and the rough details of the project we can probably give more specific advice" This a very long way off, just thinking. It would be for a model railway.
  2. Any idea if they provide a cutting service as they do in the uk or is it just as it comes? I am very early stages of planning at the moment. Just don't have in transport to check things out right now.
  3. I looked for a diy forum without success.
  4. I am planning a diy job and was looking on the Do Home site but couldn't find plywood sheets. I don't have any transport to go and check but I assume you can get 12mm thick plywood, or similar. In the UK standard sizes are 1220x2440, 607x1829, 606x1220. That should equate to 8x4, 2x6 and 2x4. Can anybody tell me what is available size and thickness wise?
  5. I get an email with 2 files attached. I click on download all and I get a pop up showing a compressed zip file in the downloads folder. When I try to open it it says "Windows cannot complete the extraction. The destinantion file could not be created" I don't get any sort of a prompt to enter a password.
  6. Before you used to be able to do this direct but they seen to have introduced extra security and password protected the file that is sent by email. I can download the compressed file into the download folder in Windows Explorer. I can see a column headed password and flagged yes. The email says in enter the password which is my date of birth but when I try to extract the file I am not prompted to enter the passord. How do I open the statement file?
  7. Grown a bit, the bruise is now 8cm across but fading. You can see the white section in the middle which must have been the initial bite. I don't have a magnifying glass but there does appear to be some sort of small puncture mark in the middle. The pale section does feel like an insect bite hard and lumpy like a mosquito bite. Pretty sure I didn't knock against anything as it is the inside of my thigh.
  8. I certainly wasn't aware of being bitten by anthing. Probably happened when sleeping. I felt a minor irritatio and thought nothing of it. Then a small bruise at first but now 7cm across. The centre of the bruise feels a bit tender like there has been some sort of puncture and hardening like when you have with a mosquito bite.
  9. I don't know what caused it but what started as slight localised pain on my inner thigh is now a 7 cm bruise. The centre of the bruise feels lumpy and hard like an insect bite. I would normally attribute a bruise to walking into something and banging a knee or elbow but this is on my inner thigh. Any insect or animal cause such a wound?
  10. "I agree but to be fair, if you had accepted responsibility for payment in the past, and not informed the authorities of the change, it's is kind of your fault." I don't get that at all. The requirement to pay the licence is if you have installed tv reception equipment. Irrespective of whether I am in the country of not if there is no tv receiver there is no need for a licence. What you are suggesting is to continue paying for a car licence even though you don't own a car. Anyway I did look at the TV licence web site and it clearly doesn't work outside of the UK so how do I inform them? I suppose that is my fault as well. I found this " You need a TV Licence if you: watch or record live TV on any channel or service use BBC iPlayer" Change or cancel your TV Licence If you move home you can update your address on the TV Licencing website. You can cancel your TV Licence or apply for a refund on the TV Licencing website. Our website is temporarily unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We are working hard to resolve this issue. If you are outside the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands you may have reached this page because the TV Licensing website is not available in your location.
  11. "the TV Licencing people will summons you as the "occupier on record". You'd only find out if you visit UK and/or the summons has some side-effect on your finances or whatever. " Yes typical of the way the UK does things now. We can't get at the person responsible so we will go after somebody who not responsible and hold them liaible.
  12. VBF as an aside I was checking up what I need to do when I eventually give up the UK for good and apparently I HAVE to notify the TV licencing authority that I am leaving the country. Not sure what is has to do with them since it wont be me operating a tv at my former address but I suppose some beaurocrat has justified his or her existance.
  13. "Boom Radio is a fantastic U.K. radio station " Just checked but like Absolute not on FM only on DAB. Not much use in my 18 year old car I am afraid.
  14. A while ago I used to work for spanish company at Heathrow airport that had all its servers in Madrid. Two annoying things when I used to check the traffic going home I got all the traffic jams in Madrid and Camelot blocked be doing the lottery online. Ironically it was the Euromillions I did anyway. Now I do it by direct debit. At least I don't have that problem while on holiday.
  15. I am on a 2 month holiday to Thailand. Since some smart <deleted> saw to take Absolute Radio off of FM I listen to it online. So I thought I could listen online here also. I got some message that it detected I was not in the UK and some legality issue or other but asked me what post code I was listening from. Well given that it had already detected I wasn't in the UK anyway I put my home post code in anyway and I was connected. Have I broken some law or other? Whilst on that subject I assume I can't get UK tv on playback but as I am a UK tv licence fee payer why can't I listen on playback? What does not being in the UK have to do with it?
  16. There are lots of videos on Youtube of snakes mistakenly taking on a cat. It is not the cat that comes out of it worse off. "snake striking at a cat and the cat simply jumped to the side" they do that if you put a cumcumber next to them while they are eating. So funny to watch. Next to a cat that is not a snake.
  17. "The little bitters are hard to kill." the wife had pinned it to the ground with a broom handle. I was hitting the damn thing but it was wriggling all over the place. I had just bought an iron mallet so got the wife to give to me and I was hitting what I thought was the head but was its tail and it was still all over the place. Two hits in the right place finished it off. The cat actually caught this thing. I guess as it is long haired that saved it from getting bitten
  18. "but the thing was so fast it got onto the broom and ran up the handle towards me!" I would probably have shat myself if that happened.
  19. Very smart things cats.
  20. The cat caught this one and the wife was going berserk bashing it with a broom handle only half killing it. I finished it off with an iron mallet. I gather all centipedes should be avoided. Just wondered how the cat avoided getting bitten?
  21. Fortunately very few dogs around where I am. I will fence them in, the plants not the dogs, if it gets a problem.
  22. Will they grow in the rocky material that they raise the land with to build on. My wife's house is built on such material as the area frequenly floods. I dug a hole to get the large and medium rocks and stones out then put in bags of compost in.
