1. I have talked to street vendors, and they told me they all pay money directly to the police.

And no , this money does not go to install better street lights.....

So this will be another dent in the income of the " Royal" Thai police. Go Prayuth !!!

Careful what you wish for.

Mamma still needs new shoes and if they ain't getting it from the locals in a long established, stable (and yes, brutal) hierarchy, I fear an increase in random pee-in-a-cup stops, or even worse.

Have you anything to fear from peeing in a cup?

Ya,, There IS a fear.. even though a person is, "clean",, DOESN'T mean the BIB won't taint the result in their favor!... So YA, there IS a FEAR!

2.

I will continue to wait at the 4th floor while having a Leo and a cigarette, plenty of available taxis at the cheapest prices.

You have a beer waiting for a taxi after landing ? Freak, just the tourist advert we all talk about

BS!.... many flights arrive late, as in 11:30PM, etc,,, so there's a problem having a casual beer and a smoke while waiting for a taxi?....

3. I will continue to wait at the 4th floor while having a Leo and a cigarette, plenty of available taxis at the cheapest prices.

I agree with this, "trick" as I've always done the same, and always suggested to friends traveling in, to do the same,,, BUT,, the last return trip I made, Nov of 2013,, They had set up some, "gates", between the street closest the departure doors, and the outer most street where they drop off, on the medium between them... and had, "guards" in what looked like airport security uniforms, that weren't allowing people to cross the gates.. You can pass through them when dropped off, going INTO the departure hall, but not visa-versa... you could cross the closest street, get to the gates.. and were told,, "no, no pass",,, I looked the guy over, surmised he WASN'T, "official",,, and just crossed over to a waiting taxi,, he just smiled,,,, My guess is that they're going to eliminate these gates, and, "security"

4. Never usually have a problem with the scooter guys either,,, but about 2 months ago,,, took one from Soi 5, to Cowboy,,, normal is about $40,, same same going back,,, This occasion, there was some, "mafia" type,, standing around the entrance of Cowboy,, he wasn't letting the scooter guys quote you,,, NO,,, HE was doing the "negotiations" for them,,, (they didn't act like they had a choice),,,, I wanted to go back to Soi 5,,, he say's,,, "$200!",,,, I told him to puck off,, and he came after me, raised fist,, Stopped right in front of me,, fist raised,,, I simply laughed,,, walked away,,, lolol,,

5. Does NO one read before posting STUPID comments?...... CLEARLY stated,, he woke up in HOSPITAL,,, Now wether he was taken there by ambulance, a good samaretan, etc, etc,, IF that's the case,,, It'll be easy for the BIB to check with said hospital, and confirm this or not,,, OR did he wake up in his room, and only TELL them he woke up in hospital,,,, Yet some here, have him out looking for peckers, taking them back to his room, and NOW according to some,, there are pics of him taking it up the wazooo, and he now has AIDS,,,,, READ IDIOTS

6. The OP sounds like a bonehead. Besides no adult man thinking antagonizing another male neighbor with a stream of water is playful diversion, any adult could also have navigated out of this drama. I know you came here for advice so here it is: we give legitimacy to your stage-drama by advising you on the narrow topic/questions you've asked regarding how to manage the "crisis." The real advise you require is about your maturity and problem solving skills.

Besides this issue never needing to happen, once you set in motion the events that would unfold it is absurd to assert the neighbor should behave in any particular way at all; you entered his world and forcefully made him a part of yours. You then protest that... What? He behaved rudely? Aggressively? You invited him into your world!

Sit down, close your eyes, and think; relive the sequence of events and while you do so see another person, off to the side, watching the whole thing too. This is your wife. Are you surprised why she wants to exit the problem? Because you failed to see all the Exit Doors earlier you leave her with few exit doors for her to ask you use now. Context, causation, maturity, and wisdom: this is what you need to manage, not the neighbor.

Yes,, a, "true" adult,,, should NEVER,, EVER attempt to have ANY FUN,, with his fellow man,,, TRY and start a convo,,, HEAVEN FORBID!,,, , should be all,,, " <deleted> you, ya <deleted> you too",,, what a bunch of sad <deleted>,,,,,

7. Return to Canada...learn how to not be an obnoxious neighbor...come back with a new attitude...and a little humility...peace be with you...

Yes,, by all means,, be a fun, friendly neighbor,,, get threatened by a bully., TWICE AFTER THE FACT,,, go home,, tail between legs,, recoupe,, come back to a different condo, under the cover of darkness,,, look over shoulder,, live a timid life from then on,,, LEMME GUESS?,,,you're French?,, There's 3 simple reasons the French don't speak German,,,,,, Americans, Aussies, and Brits,,,,55555 (in no particular order)

8. The Canadian inferiority complex is well known - they hate the fact they are ersatz Americans.

But when I lived there I found them well balanced about it - a chip on both shoulders.

I just hated they thought my accent was Irish.

If one doesn't have a sense of humour - don't live in LOS - both of you.

Yes we hate the fact that people can't understand that Canadians aren't Americans. We just share a border.
No,, many of us, DO understand,,, Canadians, are just a more, "polite" version,,,, Nothing wrong with that at all chief,,, ;)
9. Jeesuz,, talk about the,, "pussyfying" of the male species,,, "yes your honor,, I was ATTACKED, by some water drops,, that landed about 10 feet away from me,, I feared for my hearing aid,, therefore I threatened him 3 TIMES",,,, my GOD some of you guys,,, are, WELL on your way to being TRUE THAI,, "men",,,,, 55555

As well as letting your tilac step in, to smooth things over for you,,, JEEEZUS

10. Its almost a shame the OP didn't hit him with the water in the initial incident.

Hearing aid knocked out, wouldn't have heard the OP's retort and wouldn't have said "c'mon then" and ended on the ground, then hospital.

Life can be cruel at times, eh...................tongue.png

OP, don't take it to heart, and forget about going back to Canada over something like this...................wink.png

A very stupid and ignorant post.

As a hearing aid user since more than 25 years I can tell you that one of the biggest fears is that someone puts water over you, resulting in the malfunction of the hearing aid, has to be repaired and some parts will have to be exchanged. On top of that the hearing aid could be away for repair during a week or ten days, leaving someone, who needs the hearing aid, not able to communicate, watch tv, hear traffic and so on.

Did you know, clever guy, that a hearing aid can cost over 100K baht? No of course not, you thought you buy in 7/11 for 200 baht, right?

Think next time you post, if nothing interesting comes up, just don't post.

To the OP: you're at fault, as much as can be. You had a "trivial" (for you) incident before, then you spray him with water. Even if you missed, the guy has been scared to get water in his expensive hearing aid, so he exploded, logical, you don't spray a guy with water, a guy you have had a minor misunderstanding with, as it could easily be seen more aggressive than you refuse to admit. Your opening the gate after threatening him made the thing aggressive on your side, as he stood outside the gate, so did not come on your property.

Your wife is the clever one here, keeping the peace in the neighbourhood after your attack is a major thing in Thailand. If you don't understand that it's time to go back to Canada.

You're,, NOT SERIOUS ARE YOU?,,,, he,, "ATTACKED HIM?",,, FREAKING REALLY????

You,, you should be the 1 going home,,, it was a COMPLETELY INNOCENT accident,,, that this ARSEWHOLE blew completely out of proportion,,, ALL he had to say was,, "Hey chief,, careful, I have a hearing aid,, be careful please,, NOW,, you owe me a cold one",,,, lol,,, and Yes,, by all means,, "cow down" to your Thai wife,,, let her smooth everything over for tilac

11. If you knew that he is an angry man you should have never throw water at him. Anyway why the hell did you do that? Was is Sonkran then I understand but if it was't then it was your fault to start this mess.

There is no need to go back to Canada over a small misunderstanding. Just sort it out in an adult manner. May be sending a flower to hospital would do that.[/quotej

I don't believe the OP, KNEW this guy was an ARSE,, like I said,, very innocent attempt at,, "hey neighbor",,, he didn't hose him down,, just playfully got his attention,, nothing more,,,

12. Cummon guys,,, so the OP has a playful nature,, spritsts water in the guys direction,, as a, "hey,, what's up?",, he already stated,, it fell well short of the arsewhole,,, OK,, the old guy takes offenses,, says his piece/threat,, OP says,, wow,, sorry mate,,, DONE DEAL,, OVER,, FINISHED,,, but for the guy to come, BACK,, reiterate his THREAT, another 2 times?,,, ya. He's LOOKING for trouble,, BET the wife berates him on a daily basis,, and feels the, "need", to mouth off to someone, ANYONE,, over NOTHING, bet he pulls the SAME sheet, at the local market when someone steps on front of him,,, OP,, 1, you're,,CRAZY to pay a single baht,, 2,, DOUBLE CRAZY to even consider leaving because of this, ARSEWHOLE,, leave it lay,, ignore him,, you've already make it clear,, without actual violence,, that you're no push over,, he'll stay clear is my guess,, HE may even realize his error, and say,, "sorry mate ", (sound's like he could use a friend ),,, if so?, ya, share a beer,, laugh about it,,, ands Yes,,, I'd be a bit peeved also, if my girl actually took his side,, not really a, "bootable " offence,, just a bit pissed but hey,,, IGNORE THE ARSE!

13. You're not the,"tourist"they want,,, they want the shady ones, so they can, EXTORT $,,, 3 days ago,, a friend was here,, dropped a cigarette butt,,, got nailed by the, "butt police",,,, I've been also, years ago,,, they found out he was Japanese,,, actually,, REALLY SAID,, "$10,000",,, hahahah I literally laughed in his face,, said,, "phuck off", call the REAL POLICE, BECAUSE WE'RE BEING ROBBED!,, of course he didn't,,, , we walked away,, until they clean up the bib THIEVES here, They'll hassle the, TERRIBLE, "CRIMINALS",,,, visa runners,, Yet you can illegally run a biz, pull, fire an illegal hand gun, hit, injure 2 people,, and walk around free,,, THAILAND,, THE BESTEST 1ST, 3RD WORLD COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!,,, LOLOLOL

14. If you refer to me I am not a sick loser, yes we do not know the full story but we still can think about what caused this accident , without harming anyone on this forum. Maybe even learn from it.

What we do know from the news is that he was driving too fast and was killed almost instantly after hitting a lamp post.

Did he wear a helmet ? Maybe not, was he drunk? Maybe not, was he in a hurry ? Yes he was. He died because he did'nt know the rules here, too fast and furious.

Exactly,, all great points,,, so why do SOOOO many here,, feel the need to either make light of someone dying,,, or blame them for it,,, WITHOUT ,, facts,,, or usually,,, BOTH?!,,,, AND seem to take a great deal of pride in the fact,,,, "YEEES!, I'M THE FIRST ONE!!!!",,,,, that's my point,,,,

15. There are so many sick losers who respond on this site. A poor person has died and we get comments as above.

I full agree with you.

I agree,, which is WHY I posted a couple, "he deserved it" type posts,,, (didn't mean them of course) JUST to take the, "pleasure" away of those that seem to RACE to be the 1st to do such,,, The TROLLS that with limited info, ALWAYS seem to have the entire situation figured out,,, NO where in the report does it state he was drunk, riding without a helmet, etc,,, YET,,, several posters have chosen to include such info in their posts,,, and several even make, "fun" of the accident,,, I understand that on ANY/ALL internet forums,, you'll ALWAYS get such posts,,, but TVF seems to in EVERY post of this type,, SO many seem to REVEL in being the 1st ARSEWHOLE to post such crap,,, it's getting really, REALLY sad,,,

16. The point of my, "rant",,, is that some 30 years old,, that, SURELY, at that age,, had family/friends/loved ones,, that CARED ABOUT HIM, LOVED HIM,,, died in an terrible accident,,, And normal TVF, "detectives" have it all solved,,, and attempt to make light/jokes about his unfortunate death, attempt to blame on him,,, make him out as if,, "servers him right",,, obviously in a SAD attempt,, to feel better about their own sad, lonely lives,,,

17. Of course,, first to respond with B'S/INSENSITIVE posts,, are our resident,TVF, keyboard, "warriors",,, No bad luck will ever befall them,,, as they never get out,,,, who's to say he wasn't totally sober,, and run off the road by a drunken Thai taxi driver? ,, that doesn't matter,,, as our, "vigilant",Keyboard warriors,, are on the case,,, have all answers,,, irregardless if the actual facts,,,, RIP young man, whoever you were,,,

Well I was with you up to:

"... and run off the road by a drunken Thai "

... which sounds like you're on the case with a totally speculative dose of Thai bashing regardless (irregardless??) of the facts or reality. Sorry someone died and agree there's no justification in using the event to accuse the deceased of being drunk anymore than there's any justification for fabricating some imaginary drunken Thai to blame.

Right the first time buddy

Hence, "who's to say?",,,, ya,,, NONE of us were there,,,, so ya,,,, "who's to say?",,,, "warriors" here,,, are , SOOOOO quick to pass judgement,,,,, hence my,,, "who's to say?",,,,, my point,,, if you don't, KNOW the facts,,, can't contribute POSITIVE,,, why try to make a joke,,, make LIGHT of some poor , DEAD GUY!
