  1. I have been doing visa exempts, back to back with tourist visas for years (almost 12). The longest I stayed out was 1 year and a half, did the student visa for 6 months, then went back to doing tourist visas and visa exempts. Went home to Australia a few times for christmas holidays and came back after a few weeks. Still never questioned  at the airport, except at Poipet border once, (not questioned but told next time will get only 7 days). I personally think some I/O might just not be bothered to question you. I could be wrong. But do people get re-fused entry every day in Thailand for using back to back visa exempts? I do have two passports though, duel nationality and have been rotating with them a few times over the years, not that it made a difference. Just saying.

Probably unlucky, and maybe, as somebody mentioned, because of his skin color.

And from reports here it seems that at land borders it's generally easier than at the airport.

    My current Visa exempt history:

    1. (December 2015) air

    2. land

    3. land

    4. air

    5. air

    6. air

    7. air

    8. land

    9. land

    10. air

    11. land

    12. land

I do usually use close to the maximum number of 30 days and extended 4 of them by 30 days.

So out of about 28 months (since December 2015) i spent nearly 16 months in Thailand on Visa exempts, always for like 2-4 months at a time.

The only thing they ever said to me was that i reached the limit of 2 land border crossings for this year (and last year). Besides of this stamped straight in.

Is the O.P African American? Do these refusals happen every day?

  3. Kylep,

    - Did they search your phone with/without your consent?

    - Were you allowed to fly to any country you wanted or only allowed to fly to Japan where you came from? Could you have flown to Laos or Cambodia??

    - Did the airline pay for your ticket back to Japan or was that out of your own pocket? (I read that it is the airlines responsibility if refused entry??)

    - You showed them the money (20,000b atleast), + a flight ticket out within 30 days, did they give you a specific reason for denial?

    - What is your next move, as Joe stated, you won't be able to get a Tourist visa without residency in Japan?

Please keep us informed as many of us are in the same situation. Coming in on Visa Exempts every year and getting paranoid.

    Wish you the best.

2 of the craziest partners I've had were Thai women. One of them tried stabbing herself when I wanted to end the relationship, and leading up to that situation would hit her head on the wall if we ever argued. I wanted to end the relationship for a long time before hand, but I was so worried that she would hurt herself or worse; and of course, if she killed herself via stabbing herself or suffered severe head trauma from smacking her own head, who are the BiB going to believe .. Bad dark times looking back on those days

Bro, I have heard a very similar story from a mate of mine, which it happened back in 2004. When did it happen to you?

This is my story, the gf was crazy and after 1 year I told her we should go our seperate ways. She wouldn't allow it, did the same as cutting her self, going to the balcony to jump, then hitting me, breaking stuff, taking my stuff and hers. Later she filed false complaints at me with the police station, saying I won't give back the stuff she did leave (glasses, oven) and tried to get me fired too. I was silly to use her ipad to log into facebook and my email and password saved, so she went in them, changed the passwords and spammed crazy messages to people I know, family and work. That wasn't the worse thing. Before she left my room she pushed my new 50" tv down, smashed my guitar, laptop. She even took cash. I was a little worried that she went to the police though, as I do puff sometimes on occasions is private (which I know I should'nt do here). It could all turn into a big mess. In all there wasn't much I could do except, move apartments. She kept sending threats and emails for as long as a year, she still sends some msgs to say sorry now. I never replied.

ok, I' m in thailand since 3 days now, I came with only one ticket.

I want to let you know, thai airways in Milan didn't ask me anything.

immigration in Suvarnabumi  no question.I got 30 days no visa entry.

    cool i saved 50 bucks....

    cheers guys.

Good to hear! I think with Air Asia from Vietnam I will definitely need a flight ticket out. So I bought one to Laos in 30 days just to be sure + cash in hand + a statement of money coming in overseas. Just worried about immigration not letting me in for having quite a few no visa entries in the past.

My view is the same as that expressed above by @Soneva. Get a visa if possible. If entering visa exempt, be prepared with full documentation to convince immigration they should not exercise their discretion to deny you entry.

Thank you all,   I will have the necessary documents to show.  In the worst case, I get refused entry will I be allowed to fly to any neighbouring country of my choice?  Or willl I have to fly to the country of my passport?  Thanks so much

  7. Thanks everyone,  so I am flying to Thailand from HCMC on the 19th April with AirAsia.  I will buy a cheap one way ticket to Vientiene Laos just incase they ask for it at check in or immigration want to see it. This along with 20,000b should be ok?  I will be staying with the girlfriend then travelling around different parts of Thailand.  I have a long history of visa exempts in my passport so a little worried something might happen.

    Thanks to all!

  8. Hello everyone,  I have an Australian passport and a Chilean passport.  I am currently in Vietnam using my Australian passport, but I want to fly to Thailand soon and use my Chilean passport. Not the Australian one.  Can I fly out of Vietam with my Australian passport and fly into Thailand with my Chilean passort? This will allow me to have 90 days stay in Thailand without needing to apply for a visa. Will this cause any hassles?  Thanks to all who can help.
