  1. Hi Dugdale,

Speaking from Tambon Sawai, A. Muang, I go along with noodles or another local speciality bacause the set up costs are low.. Opposite our house a girl sets up a noodle stall every day under a big tree from 7 in the morning to 5 in the evening. Slow but steady all day. You must make sure of a reliable supply of raw materials.

If your house is by the road, is there an opportunity for a barrel of diesel fuel for trucks and and one of petrol for the iron buffaloes?

Either way, think and talk first . Start with the Village Head (Phuuyai Baan).

Good Luck from the Khmer speaking area.

  2. I think it would be both

It's a basic requirement of the Ministry of Education. You won't get a contract without one. The school contract will satisfy Immigration who don't want to see you degree. Be sure you take photocopies of graduation certificate and teaching qualifications to your interview.

  3. Erawan,

The offical Thai standard connector is 2 pin flat American type also used by the Japs. Modern wiring now requires an earth connection so 3 flat pin sockets are used. Often local equipment comes with European 2 round pins and you can get extgension lead that go from Euro-American,

The nominal voltage is 220, NOT 230, if you're lucky. In the country it is inclined to droop a bit but UK stuff should be OK here.

    Good luck.

  4. There is no problem about getting married here. Marriage registration is free in Thailand at any Amphur. Just check what the Palap Amphur needs.

Registration is free in Thailand. Sometimes there is a hastle locally but no problem in Khet Sathorn or Khet Bangrak in Bangkok.

If you need the marriage registered in your home country you will need a certified translation of the marriage certificate to take to your Embassy. Then you have a paper you can send home.

Make sure that if your Thai wife has any property it is registered in her name BEFORE you get married, otherwise she'll loose the lot.
