The Bastards were good, but I heard they split up? The lead singer Nigel(?) went his own way....

What kind of bike did you rent? If he let you go, with a promise to pay when you get home, it is most likely he overcharged you in the first place. Look at it this way, if the damage was really for 55,000 baht, they never would have let you leave the country....that you can take to the bank!

I thought Charlie Watts lived out in the country on a farm?

There are a couple of Farang bands playing around Bangkok..If you look for Soi dogs Bangkok, in your search engine you'll find a lot of interesting links and info. They are a farang band playing locally. The classic rock scene is very popular as well as blues. It sure beats Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boy numbers... Best of luck! Now if you were to do this in Pattaya....that is another thread...

I used to live in Samui from 1994-98. I went to visit the island after having been away for seven years. It sure has changed! Hardly none of the people who lived there at the same time as me, have stayed on. Samui is magical but after a while, you find you can't stay there anymore. It is quite far away from Bangkok, and driving around the 56 km ring road becomes repetitive after a while. Although they have really cleaned it up, there nothing really Thai about it now...It looks like some beach resort in Spain...I remember we used to have to take the ferry across and then drive 100 km to Surat to get a mobile phone...now they have broadband..wow!

Definetely a 2 day trip, considering the car is going to be loaded with your stuff...and taking into account the traffic in the suburbs of Bangkok...I would suggest a stop in Hua Hin...Then you could return the car the next day in mid afternoon....Have a good one!

I thought Coffee and cigarettes was really awful..It is all improvisation! The only gem in it...was the segment with Iggy Pop and Tom Waits....
One of the best movies out this year, is definetely Man on Fire with Denzel Washington, Taking lives with Angelina Jolie is good as well, Bad Santa was hillarious.

If you have a trail bike, there a lot of locals setting up tracks and racing in the end of the afternoons...look for tracks set up around the elephant camp at the end of Soi nerm plub wan....I think the Pattaya Motorcycle club might be more up your alley....There is a racing track 25 km out of Pattaya...It is the Bira racing circuit! You can rent the track for a modest fee...Enjoy!

Well, first of all you might want to tell us what kind of bike you ride and what kind of club you are looking for? But there are a few clubs around Pattaya. In Jomtien there is the Pattaya Motorcycle club, family and girlfriends, pets welcome!!..I think they meet on Fridays and organise outings....to Koh Chang, Kanchanaburi etc..I believe they meet at a pub called "Drunks and darelicks" on Jomtien Beach road. There are many other motorcycle clubs, keep on looking good luck....

Does anyone know of a good location to rehearse or do some recordings in the Pattaya area. There used to be a guy from Bangkok with a set up, but he packed it up. Also in great need of guitar repairs (ie. refretting and modifications), know any reliable person? Thanx...

The pool is the most amazing in Pattaya, however the hotel is rather expensive for what it is. A couple of friends of ours stayed there last year, and there definetely was no problems with visitors. The Hard Rock is really popular with Chinese tourists and some package tours. The rooms are ok...but in that price range they should be....If it is your first time in Pattaya go for it....but after 2/3 days you might wanna move somewhere else...enjoy!

There is a restaurant called R/C Powerboat which apparently has a shop as well. which sells Radio controlled gear...It is Located on the Sukhumvit on the way towards Sattahip....about 2km after the junction on Tepprasit ...100 meters after the Caltex station you will see a sign on the left...good luck...I heard the food was good as well....

Don't you think that is a little biased....? I know a lot of people who have settled here both Thai and farang who have families etc....Work abroad or locally and are quite normal and far from being losers....Yes, it is true that Pattaya attracts lots of different people, but to say it is full of desperate people, losers and criminals....is a bit harsh. I think Pattaya has cleaned up a lot in the last 10 yrs....Yet you still come herePattaya, for me, is full of 'farang' losers and criminals.
..so does that make you a desperate loser criminal 6 months of the year?I've been travelling to the region for twelve years, for up to six months annually -
Some old black and white pics of Blues greats (framed), would look good in Daves' place.....

Come one people, a little enthusiasm..any musicians out there willing to jam, learn some songs, play tight, meet new people, have some drinks in a friendly environment.....there must be some Pattayans with musical talent out there...stop hiding
