I thought Coffee and cigarettes was really awful..It is all improvisation! The only gem in it...was the segment with Iggy Pop and Tom Waits....
One of the best movies out this year, is definetely Man on Fire with Denzel Washington, Taking lives with Angelina Jolie is good as well, Bad Santa was hillarious.

Everything by the Cohen brothers, especially The Big Lebowski
By director Jim Jarmusch - Coffee and Cigarettes

If you have a trail bike, there a lot of locals setting up tracks and racing in the end of the afternoons...look for tracks set up around the elephant camp at the end of Soi nerm plub wan....I think the Pattaya Motorcycle club might be more up your alley....There is a racing track 25 km out of Pattaya...It is the Bira racing circuit! You can rent the track for a modest fee...Enjoy!

Well, first of all you might want to tell us what kind of bike you ride and what kind of club you are looking for? But there are a few clubs around Pattaya. In Jomtien there is the Pattaya Motorcycle club, family and girlfriends, pets welcome!!..I think they meet on Fridays and organise outings....to Koh Chang, Kanchanaburi etc..I believe they meet at a pub called "Drunks and darelicks" on Jomtien Beach road. There are many other motorcycle clubs, keep on looking good luck....

Does anyone know of a good location to rehearse or do some recordings in the Pattaya area. There used to be a guy from Bangkok with a set up, but he packed it up. Also in great need of guitar repairs (ie. refretting and modifications), know any reliable person? Thanx...

The pool is the most amazing in Pattaya, however the hotel is rather expensive for what it is. A couple of friends of ours stayed there last year, and there definetely was no problems with visitors. The Hard Rock is really popular with Chinese tourists and some package tours. The rooms are ok...but in that price range they should be....If it is your first time in Pattaya go for it....but after 2/3 days you might wanna move somewhere else...enjoy!

There is a restaurant called R/C Powerboat which apparently has a shop as well. which sells Radio controlled gear...It is Located on the Sukhumvit on the way towards Sattahip....about 2km after the junction on Tepprasit ...100 meters after the Caltex station you will see a sign on the left...good luck...I heard the food was good as well....

Don't you think that is a little biased....? I know a lot of people who have settled here both Thai and farang who have families etc....Work abroad or locally and are quite normal and far from being losers....Yes, it is true that Pattaya attracts lots of different people, but to say it is full of desperate people, losers and criminals....is a bit harsh. I think Pattaya has cleaned up a lot in the last 10 yrs....Yet you still come herePattaya, for me, is full of 'farang' losers and criminals.
..so does that make you a desperate loser criminal 6 months of the year?I've been travelling to the region for twelve years, for up to six months annually -
Some old black and white pics of Blues greats (framed), would look good in Daves' place.....

Come one people, a little enthusiasm..any musicians out there willing to jam, learn some songs, play tight, meet new people, have some drinks in a friendly environment.....there must be some Pattayans with musical talent out there...stop hiding Give it a shot....

Dislikes
1. when the waiter wants to fill up your glass of whisley/coke every 2 minutes, when it is still half full...(you lose track)
2. when people put on their blinkers after they have made the turn..and you have stopped your car to a screeching halt in order not to crash.....
3. people who have no concepts of queues ..at bank, cinema...etc...
4. Pizza hut guys who expect large tips after 1h30 mins.....special express delivery!
5. When the security guard yells YOU YOU YOU!
6. people who want to raise dogs but keep them outside without leashes free to roam and raise havoc....real animal lovers!!
7. Sitting in a deckchair in Jomtien and being asked if I want an ice cream, fried shrimps, manicure, massage, jet ski, tattoo, diamonds etc..100 times an hour.

If everyone had to go back to where they came from, 80% of the population in Pattaya would have to go back to Esarn.

Had enough of Angie? ...I still get nightmares of the Sha nana na nanaananananananana....song I saw a couple of thai dudes ripping it on 2 guitars with drummer and bass player a few years ago....at Wonderful bar...they could play anything we threw at them, from Freebird( with slide intro and full solo), Crazy train by Ozzy(a la Rhandy Rhoads), old Van Halen....all done very well. The guys in Kampang( soi 1 or 2) are really good for Peua Chivit and they play some farang songs...note for note( if u like hotel Barfolonia!)like rock rnb rock n roll. no tina turner filipino stuff. Some Reggae would be really cool, Blues is always good at the Factory(especially since the pinays have gone...), in terms of new venues a little more rock with proper band and horns would be a blast with a diversified set list.....It seems someone has set in stone the top10 farangs to play at any venue.....Country roads anyone, hotel california, any Clapton.....There is a lot of good stuff out there!
In Samui they have this Brazilian bar/restaurant with band and Black dancers, they are really hot (the dancers), the first guy who brings this to Pattaya....will make a fortune....Cai Pirinas anyone...Dao Brasil!

Banglamung tv is not great either. There is only one english movie channel, the banglamung tv news in english is a good laugh though. The signal feed sometimes freezes some of the channels and the whole service is sometimes cut off. Yes they do have BBC world and the horible useless Fox News. They also had a pretty cool channel on reality tv...but I think it has been taken off the air....

What you can do as well, is go across the road to the row of shophouses, the first shop on the corner, with the fat woman with glasses( she is really cool and friendly!) will sort you out and fill in the papers for you, take your pics, photocopies etc...for a small fee(very reasonable) she will get your licence in a much faster amount of time then you would by applying yourself....

Loong Sawai is a nice little seafood restaurant, at the end of Jomtien Beach road, the food tastes great, its' not very fancy but has an authentic local flavor. It is very popular with Bangkok weekenders but not overly priced. Try the tod man koong and the Tom yam...Another good establishment is Kaffa,on Jomtien beach, next to the KFC, they have a very extensive menu, ranging from european, thai, japanese(fresh sushi--2 japanese chefs), the setting is great, they put on concerts on their tvs, the cocktails are good as well, good service and great food.....A good place for breakfast in Jomtien is Surf kitchen...many different freshly brewed coffees, nice setting, newspapers, great pastries.....another good breakfast place in Jomtien is Continental Bakery...although quite small...it is opposite Grand Condo Jomtien...right after the junction with tep-parasite(tepprasit road).....In regards to Indian food...avoid the new Indian on tappraya road....very pricey...small portions...looks very nice though..and they had some indian live music..with sitar and tabbla....
Da joe on walking street is a nice little long established Italian restaurant, good wine selection and the food is alright. Joe is an alright guy as well, always friendly...
...Getting hungry.... Who makes the best Pizza in Pattaya? I heard it was globetrotters in the small soi connecting soi 7 and central Pattaya road....anyone tried it?

There is a boxing camp on Siam country road...I think the name is Sidyodthong...it is run by a famous Thai promoter and an ex world champion boxer from Holland. Or you might try going out with some Thai dude and cheat on him, then test your boxing skills.....learn on the job kind of thing....

I went with my friend to Bangkok last year to buy a beetle for his wife...It was an incredible garage, with about 20 refurbushed models, they did an excellent job..and to this day my friend is very happy with the car. Although I can not remember where the place is, I could get the address and phone number if interested?

I don't have a rehearsal space yet, however the music store opposite Lotus on the Sukhumvit (the one in Jomtien) rents rehearsal rooms, which have amps, a PA , mics, drums...for about 200 baht an hour....the gear is not great but it can do for small jams.
Alright Penzman lets' see if we can get more musicians together....Drummers, guitar players, singers, horns whatever...anyone interested in Jamming in Pattaya please reply.....or
