The same thing happened to me at Hua Hin. He ummed and aahhed and then told me to go up and meet the manager. The manager was a lady who tried to get me to pay 20000 for a parent visa. I refused and told her what I thought of her. Yes, not a good idea but she really wound me up. Now I don't want to go back there, I may have to unless there is some good news for me concerning the amnesty.  It would be really a big problem if I have to fly back to England just for a visa.

Agh yes, that lady was there as well. She's pretty rude and comes across fairly aggressive and doesn't listen! She <deleted> the missus off that's for sure!

Thank you for reporting this.  This happened to myself and a few others - but still some deny Immigration will deny proven incomes which are "not a pension" - but they do.  Bank-book coding, etc - irrelevant.

The only "workaround" if your income "doesn't count," is their agent/lawyer partners - 35K Baht+ if at Chiang Wattana, Bangkok.  Those payoffs are the REASON for this "rule" - doesn't matter that money is money, and supports your Thai family all the same.

Yeah I think he was kind of getting at that but obviously didn't want to say it.

Odd that if I put 400k into my TH bank it's going to be coming from the same source as transferring 40k+ each month, as it's from overseas ????

Did you only talk with a desk-officer at the HuaHin IO?  Or did you politely request to plead your case with the officer in charge.

Reason I am asking is that the answer you received is absolutely incorrect.

When you can show evidence of +40K transfers in each and every of the 12 months preceding your application for the 1-year extension of stay for reason of marriage, you fully meet the financial requirements.  IO might also ask for evidence of the SOURCE of those foreign income transfers (e.g. a pension statement or an embassy issued income-letter).  So its possible that it is that SOURCE requirement that is the obstacle.

Note: If IO is adamant in the above, you could of course apply for a 60-day extension of stay for reason of visiting your thai wife or thai dependant child.  That extension will start from 27 Sept and will provide you a permission to stay till 25 November.

When applying for the 1-year extension of stay for reason of marriage, you would then need to transfer 400K approx mid September to your PERSONAL Thai bank-account (a joint one is not accepted) as the funds need to be seasoned for at least two months on that account when applying for the 1-year extension of stay.

Note: When applying for the 1-year extension of stay for reason of dependent child, there is no such seasoning requirement, and hence you could apply for it from the moment the 400K is on your personal thai bank-account.

Thanks, yeah he was the only one to talk to, there's a separate room for application processing. He called his 'higher-up/boss' and asked about the 40k as well.

60 day extension it looks like then.

You cannot change to a single entry non-o visa in the country and there is no reason to do it.

You could could apply for a one year extension of stay based upon marriage at immigration.

It is written in the rules that is is possible to apply for the extension with only 2 months of transfers from abroad but most offices will insist you need 12 months of transfers.

Have you applied for a 60 day extension to visit your wife?

    Thanks for your reply.

I've tried to apply for a 1 year extension before, but the immigration officer said I could only do it if I had a non-o single entry not a multi entry. With the bank transfers I would say I would have 2 years of monthly transfers.

    No I've not applied for a 60 day extension. So there's a 1 year and a 60 day extension?

  5. Hey everyone ????

I'm sure a load of us on the Non-O (based on marriage) multi entry, are in a similar situation.
My visa expires Feb 2021 but under this amnesty it's looking like I'll have to leave 26th September.

Looking for advice and wondering if it's possible to change to a Non-O 'single' entry visa, in Thailand or would I have to go back to the UK? I wouldn't have the ฿400k, but I've read you can show ฿40k coming into your Thai bank account for the past 2 months, is this correct for a Non-O 'single' entry based on marriage?

Any help, as always highly appreciated ????

She has to apply for a new passport. Names cannot be changed in a passport. They will use the name shown on her ID after a new one is issued after the name change.

If they want the foreign marriage registry done there are two step to get the marriage certificate legalized in the UK as shown in the info I posted a link to. The Thai embassy in the 2nd step.

    Thanks for your help ?

It seems super sketchy sending marriage certificates and other important documents in the post!

  7. @Ubonjoe

Thank you, so we could get the marriage certificate translated and get it stamped by the MFA and it could all go smoothly changing my wife’s name in her passport or the Amphoe might be funny and then we would have to either go to London or post our marriage certificate to the London Thai embassy?

    @Happy enough

Easier for travel, signing documents, banking etc.

    @BobbyL

Ah nice one, I don’t suppose it was called Express Translation Service & Travel Co? Just searched it ?

Did your wife/husband get their passport name changed with the translation and MFA stamp?

  8. Hey everyone ?

I need to get our marriage certificate translated from English to Thai so that my wife can change her surname in her passport.

We got married in the UK (2011) just never got round to doing this.

Does anyone know how I go about getting the document translated and guessing it needs to be approved by an authority figure of some sort?

I think also I need my passport page translated?

    Any help much appreciated ?

  9. Hey everyone

Thought this may be helpful to anyone trying to get a non o visa based on marriage from the London Thai consulate.

I have recently obtained a 1 year non o MULTI ENTRY stamp, by simply providing the following & the visa fee plus postage etc.:

x1 Application form with 2 photos
x1 Signed copy of my passport
x1 Signed (by my wife) copy of my wife's ID card & passport

x1 Copy of our marriage certificate (UK version)

Hope this helps anyone, as their website isn't really up to-date.

  10. Just got back from Savannakhet, Laos and easily obtained a Non-O Multi Entry visa based on Marriage.

    All I handed in was:

x1 Application form with 2 photos
x1 Signed copy of my passport
x1 Signed (by my wife) copy of my wife's ID card & passport
x1 Signed (by my wife) copy of wife's house book she is registered at
x1 Copy of our marriage certificate (UK version)
x1 Original marriage certificate (UK version)

Simple process, and Savannakhet was surprisingly a pretty cool place. The consulate officer did say we had to get our marriage certificate translated as soon as possible though.

  11. Alrighty got you dude, thank you again :)

    So I just need these:
1 x application form with 2 recent photos attached - Which is named Savannakhet 2501-01-31.PDF on that link.
1 x copy passport, signed by me

1 x copy wife ID card signed by wife

1 x copy marriage certificate, both sides, signed by wife and me + original just incase
1 x copy wife house book, her entries, signed by wife (Wife doesn't have a house, will a cousins be OK?)

  12. Thanks Ubonjoe for your reply.  So once I've registered our marriage I don't have to show anything else, I'm guessing I'll have to go to an embassy outside of Thailand and apply there?

So even for a multi entry non O visa I still have to prove 400k in Thai bank account or 40k each month? Or is this for a single entry?

    It seems a whole lot easier just getting a ed visa, you don't have to deal with this or do visa runs. }

    Thanks again :)

  13. Hey everyone

I need some help/advice on obtaining an extension for my non O multiple entry visa. I’m stamped in until 21st April 2017, the visa itself (in my passport) says enter before 9th March 2017, this doesn’t mean it’s expired though does it?

Where do I have to go to renew (get an extension) for this? Can I do it in Bangkok? Or would I have to go to Savannakhet, Laos? What documents would I have to provide? We got married in the UK so don’t have a Thai marriage certificate but have the original from UK.

Also I’ve been told that once you have finished one year on the non O multi entry visa, you don’t have to leave the country every 90 days, I don’t believe this, but is it true? It would be nice as doing visa runs every 90 days is a ball ache.

    Any help much appreciated :)

  14. Hi

Was wondering if someone could help me please.

I'm in the process of applying for a non-o visa in London via post - Married to Thai national.

I've tried calling and emailing but with no luck.

Do I have to show that I have 800,000 Baht in my bank (I don't) or is it ok just to show I have a salary of over GBP 14,000.00/annum along with pay slips and some savings, around 5,000 - 6,000?

    I have everything else they've stated (http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/51).

    Any help much appreciate :)
