1. Too late too late the maiden cried or not I'm glad that in Pattaya something is being done. We don't need to care about why it's being done but at last unlike Phuket or Swampy airport someone in power has lifted a finger. Hope it's not just another hot air crackdown pledge but a real move to clean the beach of these criminals. Never mind rounding up a few lady boys every so often. Drag these jet skis out of the bay and let the navy test their big guns on them.Regardless of the reasons I'm glad something is being done.

  2. 18 wheeler crashes into bus in Kanchanaburi, killing 2 and injuring 18 /TAN_network

    I rest my case?

Before anyone else comes in about road design and engineering. I rest your case also?

I do this without any knowlege of what happened.

    Nice one D/C

Agree entirely. Same old story every time. When they do more than just fine people for drinking and driving and when the police themselves all wear helmets whilst riding motorbikes as opposed to the peaked caps, we may start getting somewhere. No amount of animist so called buddha amulets or bamboo inflicted tattoos can help a drunk guy without a helmet.

  3. If you think it's a problem in Thailand you should try Cambodia. I have never met such a bullshitting hand to mouth group of people than some of the fellow Westerners in Sihanoukville. Not talking about destitute people on the street either but people who are renting apartments, driving big old thirsty motorbikes and doing the rounds of the bars. I've still not received a cent back from two of these people who always seem to have money for drinking and their dirty drugs but always an excuse about not being flush at present when it comes to repayment. FOOL ME ONCE SHAME ON YOU, FOOL ME TWICE SHAME ON ME.

  4. I agree. Drinking in moderation would prevent the high death toll during this religious holiday. In my opinion, it would be nice to return to its original religious intent instead of the drunk water spraying festival it currently is. Thai Buddhism has been corrupted enough.

Actually it is a Hindu festival originally. In some Indian languages it is called Songkrani. Only the educated Thais seem to understand this. Most bargirls are well pissed off when I bring up the fact that most Thai cultural mainstays including their script, dance etc. are inherited from Indian culture with a sprinkling of Chinese.Everything after that is from animism One girl even went hot flushed and called me a liar when I corrected her notion that Buddha was a Thai. When I told her he was actually a prince from India she went ballistic.

  5. Soak-Kran is the worst time to be in LOS.

I guess you will be leaving as well? I could probably get a package deal for all the bloggers that think this is a bad thing to happen to fly to no where land to be with the no where man. I know I can't stand for people being happy even if it is with the help of drinks and drugs. It is so distasteful to see others enjoying themselves. especially at my aggravated expense. You all should get a life and start enjoying the few things that still make the MAJORITY smile

Why don't you try getting hit in the face with a bucket of water with ice in it while

riding a motorbike, see if that makes you smile or perhaps if someone close

to you gets killed by one of the thousands of drunk and unlicensed drivers on the

road over songkran, maybe that will make you smile. I doubt that anyone minds

people having fun, however when it endangers innocent people , it is no longer

    innocent fun.

Why don't you stage a protest on the steps of parliament with the rest of the minority farangs calling for a ban on thai culture because you don't like it and speak for all thais, tourists and expats. Muslims have successfully done this in places like Australia and had xmas and easter pagents banned in schools because they don't like christian festivals. Maybe if this festival offends and incites such anger in you then you should not come to Thailand. Problem solved for you and you will not be offended by thais and thier festivals and thais and others in the country will not have to listen to the whinning of grumpy nasty old men. Win Win for all in Thailand.

I agree with you up to a point but also understand peoples dislike for the neo songkran. Especially the week long farce that plays out in Pattaya. It is far removed from the actual songkran festival. I mean if there was a kids party every day for a week with them blowing whistles in your ears all the time I'm sure it would get anyone down.Dirty water in the ears, eyes and mouth every day for a week is also annoying when all you wanted was a newspaper. Songkran of today has as much cultural significance as the farce that is modern Christmas or Easter in the West.

  6.
There must be a goverment department of usless statistic's which is next door to the ministry of silly walks....

Actually there a department for statistics, my friend is a statistician for the government. As for being usless... I doubt it.
Well maybe he would know that statistically the majority of his countrymen are far from happy with things as they stand.

  7. A good English breakfast has never done me any harm, in fact I've had one every day for the last 40 years. (When I was a baby it was liquidised).

Look at the nutritional value of a typical English breakfast:

    Eggs

    Bacon=pork full of fat

    Sausage= intestines and offal

    Baked Beans

    Black Puddings=pigs blood

    Tomato

    Mushrooms

    Fried Bread=oil sponge

Hash Browns=yesterdays spuds from peoples leftovers

Kidneys=never seen these in any English breakfast

    HP Brown Sauce=sugar and salt

    Toast

Butter/Marmalade=more fat and sugar to top it all off

    Large mug of tea

  8. General Songkitti asked the media and people not to panic with the coup rumor because the Thai armed forces are under the constitution, underlying the democratic system with the constitutional monarchy; therefore, the Thai military will not violate freedom of people.

Why weren't they abiding by this when Thaksin was overthrown? Or does it only count when you're trying to prop up a hi so dictatorship.

  9. I have a friend who is Thai who has been through several female maids. They have all had to quit even though the working conditions and pay are good. Each one has said that they were having to go home to live with their parents because their husbands have girlfriends and are spending all their time and money on them. So, I imagine business would really be booming is all these less fortunate ladies could afford private eye services and the courts would enforce support for wives and children left behind. I also found out from this friend that there is no such thing as "pro bono" (free) legal services available to these poor ladies in Thailand. Not good.

I have a friend who is Thai who has been through several female maids.??????????????????????????????????? Should he be investigated????

  10. People's Alliance for Democracy. What a f..... joke. Why didn't they use live rounds like they did against the red shirts? Hi So elitist Chinese Thais can do whatever they want in Thailand(Take over an airport?) and the only move against them is symbolic bullshit. Most of the poor coppers know that everyone they try to move is possibly well connected. Why do all undemocratic regimes use the democracy word. Thailand(apart from yellow shirt elitists) bless its heart can only call itself a democracy when we can talk about everything freely. You all know what I mean. I was happy there once but it's had its day. Eventually no expats = no sad out of shape police volunteers and the knock on effect will be no sad Thai visa edit all the truth types.Good fuc_king riddancexxx
