  1. Has anyone had same....

Was driving my vehicle with Wifey and baby daughter to update visa last week. On way to border I, the driver (me sitting in drivers seat controlling, said propelled vehicle along thai highway and byeway fully legal and licenced) of our owned vehicle was stopped at checkpoint and asked to pull to the hard shoulder for vehicle check. The police officer notices farang and leg's it round to the wife and asks her to produce HER licence and insurance papers while she tends to the awoken baby. The wifey's licence was out of date by two weeks, so he nicks her for 300 bht and gives me the all clear to move along in an orderly fashion without as much as a 1000 bht question...I was cracking up with laughter all the way back....you got to love this place....

  2. good shop in Krabi for Farang stuff. opposite main post office...

Mustards and heinz salad cream, relish, cheese and tin things that keep long period. Good selection of Bar spirits and wines.

As for lamb...Speak to a local Muslim for contact of purchase or good shop in

    Au-Nang near Krabi, 250 a kilo...expensive

Best get muslim contact for about 150 a kilo...

Branstons no luck here so far...My mate comes here every three months with a goodies bag of unattainables...

Make sure your seals (not been opened) are intact when buying farang stuff....

  4. Chesada has lived in London for 18 years. He started his business several years ago after he strolled through London's Chinatown looking for Thai food ingredients, and came home empty-handed.

Just the same livin here in good old thaitee. Not a good tasty pork sausage to be found.

  5. I just cut down four of the things. Thought it was best to kill them before they killed me. Dropping nuts at mack 125. used it as roof timber on sunshade area at back of house.

Anyway, you will find that once the trees have been cut by a thai lumberjack, not much wood will be available for use. in fact 50% will be left to rot on the land due to soft parts of tree. I thought i would get some long sections from a tall tree, but the guy cut them into three or four sections across, explaining that he know what was good and not good by visual experience. its a bad wood to use on building a house. good for outhouse or store room roof timber, dont put any in house as gets some sort of fungus after a period of time...

I miss the shade now they gone....

  6. You may find the best option is to jump on a bike and look around Krabi. You can find a small or medium sized house from 2000 to 4000 along a quite road, just outside the town. I would recommend staying off main roads due to noise pollution and late bars. Many of the owners only want one month in advance and would be happy to accomodate you.

If you still want a flat or apartment, many new developments are rising and will fit your needs on arrival. Should be as above costs.

Seems a lot of farangs are settling Krabi, now the place is growing at a good rate for the expected tourist future forcasts, with good shops and restaurants.

people are very friendly in and out of the town. If your not sure stay hotel for a few days and ask local farangs for assistance on walkabout in town

Expect 20.000 - 40.000 a month if you cook your own and not drink alot.

check out sites for krabi on things to do.

be aware that most houses come with floors, walls and roof. cookers, tv etc you may need to buy. so agency may be finance choice for your time spent here.

    enjoy your stay allen
