  1. Thanks Ajarn

Looks like is the same page I used. I paid 35USD by the system called 2C2P.COM

and I got the email from the address [email protected] including: Invoice number and transaction referance.

That was almost 10 days ago. So what the next? What do I do now? Thanks for the advice.

You're right, it's the correct site, or appears to be, the URL you gave is just one level up from the one I gave. But how did you end up paying $35 for a tourist visa? That sounds fishy.

At any rate, you should contact them and see why your visa hasn't arrived yet...in fact, they say right on this page that you can download it if it never came via e-mail (btw, have you checked your spam box to see if it ended up in there?):

    http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/CheckChange.aspx

  2. Wow, in all my years (10+) traveling to Vientiane, and going out quite late at night, I've never had an experience like that...and believe me, I look like most Asians' stereotypical image of a Western drug user, haha!

It's true that Vientiane is not really a late-night town for food. There are all-night jok places, but you have to know where to find them. I've had women I've met in discos take me to them on their motorbikes on several occasions.

  3. This is the real website: http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/

I don't know if the one you used ("www" instead of "evisa" at the beginning) is one of the fake ones or not...but they are out there. What was your total amount paid? Should have been $28 US. There's a page on the website where you can enter that confirmation number you received and check on the status of your visa, plus troubleshoot any problems you might be having.

I've gotten Cambodian e-visas more times than I can count, and I usually get the visa within 1-2 business days. The one time there was a problem (me entering my name incorrectly), they were very helpful and forthcoming and it was quickly resolved.

  4. I worked for 20 years in northern Canada flying drunk, smelly, dirty and disgusting Indians (not the ones from India). I did it in order to finish work early and move to Thailand. I hated everything about themtheir culture, language, appearance, music, attitude, even their physical presence made me ill.

Now I can relate to how bar girls feel with their ugly customers. I had to smile and laugh with them while inside I was repulsed by them. I was no different than a bar girl and sold my dignity for money everyday. Its not a pleasant existence but I have a good life here now.

They would be native canadians. What sort of natives are in canada and how they are similar to the ones in america? I mean you know of the sioux and the apache cos these are famous tribes but so far i have never really heard of the canadian indians and do they have a canadian version of the trail of tears?

Btw it's the native canadian's country so you are the invader.

Well, they have the highest rate of suicides in the world. Girls are raped routinely, alcoholism is rampant, children start sniffing gas at 6 years old, unemployment is over 80%, diabetes and drug use is out of control, their diet consists of potato chips and Coke, they are insanely fat, the murder rate is about 1 in 300 people annually.need I go on?

Its not somewhere you want to go. Its all about money and how much you can make off them before you quit.

    http://www2.macleans.ca/2012/03/30/canada-home-to-the-suicide-capital-of-the-world/ Pretty accurate synopsis.

Hmm, okay, this makes things much clearer. It's obvious who the supreme racist is here. Why don't you ask the teacher to marry you, sounds like you have a lot in common. We have enough loonies blathering here on TV, we don't need racist pieces of shit too. Go away.

  5. First, let me say that I find it disgusting that the people of Thailand do not care that anyone can be assasinated in public by trained members of a foreign countries military force.<snip>

Stop talking like an imbecile. The "trained members of a foreign country" bullshit is just that, typical Thai refusal to accept that Thais are perfectly capable of killing Thais, and getting in a racist put-down of the "savage Cambodians" while they're at it. Do you really want to descend to their IQ level?

  6. KANELA im not sure where you will want to live in thailand but if you moved to kanchanaburi there wont be a problem for you, there is absoulutly no sex industry in that province whatsoever, however you might find the people are particually unfriendly in that province

Really ? There's sex industry everywhere in Thailand just it's only openly visible in tourist areas as Thai men won't be seen with hookers in public and really can't understand why farangs do.

Whether it's a local karaoke bar, hairdressers, massage place fronting as a clean massage place or the golf course, it is everywhere but kept out of sight.

Ya, like the wives don't know what the Christmas tree lights or the curtains in the parking mean.cheesy.gif

Thai wives do, farang wives don't.

  7. KANELA im not sure where you will want to live in thailand but if you moved to kanchanaburi there wont be a problem for you, there is absoulutly no sex industry in that province whatsoever, however you might find the people are particually unfriendly in that province

Not quite accurate...the sector of the sex industry that caters to Thai men is EVERYWHERE, every province, every "market town"...it's WAY bigger than the farang-oriented sector, which is only in a very few places. The difference is, as an outsider clearly knowing nothing about Thai society, the OP will not know the Thai sector of the sex industry when she sees it...but make no mistake, it's there.

  8. All the red lovers in T.V. will now be happy - of course it was Suthep's own people who did it - just ask a red and bear in mind they never lie

NO. It was the THAI PEOPLE who would not stand for others trying to take away their right to vote who did it. I'm not happy about it...but this kind of thing is inevitable when you start interfering with the rights of others in the way that the Suthep people are.

  9. thai's get 15 day visa exempt for free for Cambodia,

the border pass is only for those without a passport

    Casinos are PAST immigration

The casinos are before the Cambodian immigration, so no Camb. visa is needed. I don't know if Thailand will stamp you out if you tell them you are just going to the casinos. I have not been that way yet.

When I came from Cambodian side, they did not stamp we out, so I could go back and forth to Cambodia if I wanted. I ended up staying in the zone, the Diamond Casino has a nice restaurant Chillax, good western food, see some reviews of hotels on tripadvisor.

Blackjack is only 100 baht/hand. Thais mostly play Baccarat and fan tan. Everything is in Baht.

Nope, you are quite wrong; phuketrichard is correct. The casinos are past Cambodian immigration; they are fully inside Cambodia. Trust me, I spent a week in Poipet facilitating a workshop for casino workers.

  10. This is what happens when the police don't do their jobs.

YES!! I was actually just going to post this very photo. THIS is what needs to happen. Everyday regular people who want to VOTE need to rise up against Suthep's thugs and administer non-lethal violence. This is the only way these entitled jerks will back down.

A swift whack to the shin or a strong poke to the stomach with a piece of wood will be enough to send the hi-so madams running home, never to dare to protest again. Steel bars are, unfortunately, probably needed to fend off the "nak leng" thugs (mistakenly often called "guards")...

  11. What a banana republic... Who is supposed to protect voters and make sure they exercise their right to vote?

    Unbelievable.

The police are moving now on one mob.

The fascist spokesperson for PDRC is bleating on Twitter that they are being attacked. Big cheer went up all down Rama 3 area when MCOT showed the PDRC getting a kicking.

Might be a lot more of this if they not careful

It's about time. These Suthep protesters are small in number compared to the majority of Thais--even in Bangkok, one of their "bases,"--who want their right to vote. If the police will not turn back the protesters with restrained, non-lethal violence, then the ordinary citizens are going to have to. It won't take much to send the hi-so madams home crying over a hurt knee. Unfortunately, it will take a bit more with the hired thugs from the South...

  12. My take on loaning money in Thailand is this (and I've done it, more than I care to remember): whether you loan to a fellow farang or to a Thai, don't think of it as a loan, think of it as a gift. Because the chances are 98% (or more) that you will NOT get it back, haha...

  13. Very popular with bar girls (especially gogo girls) who take a shot between dancing turns.

The friend I mentioned in an earlier post, whom I would drink two baengs (fifths) of yaa dong with several times a week on Sukh soi 3/1 about a decade ago, needed the fortification to go and do her job, finding customers at the soi 7 Biergarten, bless her heart. If I were in her place, I would need at least that much... BTW, she always insisted on alternating paying...if I paid last time, she HAD to pay this time, etc. I know, we're talking 120 baht, but still...

  14. "Big difference between Buddhists and Xians: Buddhists don't cry to cram their religion down other people's throats, don't try to get people to give up their religion for theirs. This is one of many Xian sects' (especially the "born again" ones) major goals. My way or the highway."

That is funny since Buddhism didn't originate in Thailand but spread. How do you think that happened? If it wasn't from people sharing their faith and spreading their word it wouldn't be in countries all over the world. I even saw a Buddhist temple in a small town in middle America do you think that they didn't convert people?

All religions grow because people share their faith and that faith speaks to certain people.

Personally, I don't discuss my faith in public but there is nothing wrong with those that do.

I do find the keep it in your pants comments pretty juvenile since those people are most likely to discuss their sexual exploits from the night before in a crowded restaurant.

I am not a proponent of the preacher types of people but I have met many spiritually grounded people of faith that express and share their faiths and it is nice to see how a religion can give people comfort.

FYI in Japan Buddhist monks used their teaching to support expanding their empire and encouraged WWII. There was an interesting book about 10 years ago written about it.

I also call BS on Filipinos running away from someone claiming to be Aetheist. If you said devil worshiper, I would believe it. But they don't care about Atheists, they might not discuss things with you and feel that they have nothing in common so what is the point. Most people don't challenge others faith. They discuss to share and find common interests.

Dust off your old history textbooks. Buddhism spread by people being attracted to its ideas. Christianity spread in large part via the barrel of a gun, and other means of force.

  15. One of those groups, Nightlight, is particularly evil and is an organization that tries to "save" sex workers but actually screws them over in many ways, I have detailed first-hand knowledge of this.

    blink.png

You were a sex worker and they screwed you over??

    whistling.gif

No, smartass, I do research with sex workers and know many who have had bad experiences with Nightlight.

  16. Xians do a lot of bad in Thailand and other countries in Asia. I feel the same as the OP does about that woman. OP, you do not need to apologize.

Big difference between Buddhists and Xians: Buddhists don't cry to cram their religion down other people's throats, don't try to get people to give up their religion for theirs. This is one of many Xian sects' (especially the "born again" ones) major goals. My way or the highway.

And one sees plenty of them screaming at Buddhists that they're going to hell...the ones that used to stand at the entrances to Nana and Soi Cowboy, for one. One of those groups, Nightlight, is particularly evil and is an organization that tries to "save" sex workers but actually screws them over in many ways, I have detailed first-hand knowledge of this.

  17. I have more faith in the "Honest Lads" here in Issan. Never heard of Car Jacking or Stealing, they are often too busy knocking of Motorcycles and transhipping them to a ready market, over the river, in nearby Laos. I have been known to leave my Pick-up with motor running (Air Con.) whilst I do my shopping in the main street. Depends If you reside in peacefull Issan or one of those horrible Cesspits, called Tourist resorts.

    "peaceful Isaan" cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

may be this will make you surprised, but they smuggle to Laos stolen cars also.

If you don't want to turn off aircon, take 2 keys with you.

Speaking of car theft in Isaan, some loser posted earlier today in another thread how his car was stolen in some Isaan province, and then the thieves called his wife's cellphone (which they just "happened" to have) demanding a ransom! Clearly a case of the wife teaming up with her"brother" (first/real husband or boyfriend) to rip off the farang, methinks...
