The chances of them receiving any truthful information from me is ZIPPO
You , and all who liked you post should be aware, it says at the top of the form, "Providing false information to an officer, shall be punished under Penal Code."
What a thoroughly unpleasant individual you portray yourself to be (the quote above plus your previous mutterings in this thread). I sicerely hope I never have the opportunity to meet you. So, below are a couple more quotes for you to ponder, as you appear to be quite happy to kowtow to every command and demand put upon you.
Personally, if information is requested from me, and provided that a clear and reasonable explanation is given for the need for that information, I have no objection to providing such information, allbeit that such information does not jeopardise my own well-being. I have nothing to hide. In relation to this current information request from Thai Immigration, no clear and reasonable explanation has been provided, and the information provided MAY indeed jeopardise my own well-being. As such, Immigration will receive the bare essentials (information that they already have to hand, if they were not too lazy to locate it themselves). The remainder will be gibberish.
And so to the quotes, dear smotherb... ponder them as you drift off into your peaceful, unenlightened slumber this evening;
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." Edmund Burke
"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me." Pastor Niemöller
I am so happy to hear of your envy of my mutterings. Please do continue.
So, you believe commenting on the risks of providing false information to immigration--especially when it is plainly stated right on the form-- is the act of an unpleasant individual. I wonder what scurrilous thoughts you may have of an individual who will provide only the bare essentials then provide nothing but gibberish. Try re-reading my comments, after you extract your head.
Envy? I think not, my dear smotherb. Your passive-aggressive posting style is shown again. I am not going to derail this vitally important thread for those of us who have lived here long-term by denegrating it to a slanging match. So, I shall leave you with another quote, this time to be enjoyed over your morning coffee;
"Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit....." Disiderata
Goodbye, smotherb, for I believe that we will not cross paths again, and if they do, it will be too soon.

Hi Rayk - I just sent you a PM with links to what you are asking for.

hmmmmmm http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/903067-dane-closes-business-in-thailand-over-visa-issue/
the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing......

Yes I do.
I see you are new here. It is because the international news agencies, The European Parliament, the U.S. Federal government, the Australian government and the Canadian government are all in the pay of Thaksin Shinawatra.ummmm....why are the international news agencies reporting the exact opposite of the headline above?
(Any I have missed?)
Well thank you baboon. Let me assure you that, despite not posting as frequently as your good self, I am not new here. I have lived and worked in Thailand for a very long time, and I keep well abreast of the news and comings-and-goings of my adoptive country.
My dear old mother has a saying (from my native country) that fits your post very well, I think....
"They're a' oot o' step 'cept oor Jake", which translated to common English might be, "They're all out of step except our John"
Quite fitting, don't you think?
The part about your being new was a nudge and a wink, not any kind of attempt at condescension, just to be clear. No offence was intended.
No offence taken, baboon

Just wanted to come to confirm what the original poster (dodos) said..... just got back from Hua Hin Immigration and was charged a "processing fee" for changing visa into new passport... quietly informed that "her back there"(?) insisted on it, and no receipt given.
I just accepted it (reluctantly) as very soon I will be applying for my extension.... you never know if you will get the same officer next time - better to be safe than sorry
-
Coincidence,dodos! I too had to go yesterday to transfer my visa to a new passport in Hua hin. Wasn't sure if I had to copy my old passport for them, so my Thai assistant called beforehand. No was the answer.... only the Thai Immigration form, the form from my passport office, plus the old and new passport. Got to the office and told I must make a full copy of my old passport
. So I didn't transfer after all (I know they have a copying service), as I had to be back at work and didn't really have time.... I will go back on Monday.
Thank you oncearruge for the info... I too wasn't sure if there was a fee for the transfer.... now I know
After all these years, I wonder how many copies of my passport they have at the various Thai government offices..... come to that, how many photographs?!

I am hoping that someone with greater knowledge than me can help with this one....
We run a small English school. About 2 years ago the Labor Office told us that all employees (including foreigners) must enroll in the Government Social Insurance program, as part of the work permit application. We had no problem with that. All staff have paid into the program since then - the Thai staff had always been enrolled anyway, and we cancelled the private health care plan that we had (to save money!).
Everything has been fine for the last 2 years - we all have medical cards and I have personally used it (only once).
Fast forward to this week - we have just been told that the foreign staff have no right to enroll in the Government program, and never should have been... even though it was the same office that told us originally that we must be enrolled. This seems to go against everything I have read here on ThaiVisa.
When asked about refunding the money that they have taken for the last two years, the reply was (and I am not joking here) "They are foreigners - they can afford to lose some money!"
I don't know if this is just some individual in the Labor Office who has a grudge against foreigners, or if this is a new(?) policy on the Government's part.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated - many thanks!

Hi richjp - don't know if this will help you or not, but I moved from Japan (Tokyo) to Thailand three years ago, on the same basis as you - teaching job. I went to the Thai Embassy in Tokyo and got the Non-Imm B visa with no problems at all. You will need a letter of job offer from the company in Bangkok + copes of their company papers and (if I remember) the school's Education Licence. It took three days to get the visa, but it was only two trips - one to apply and one to pick up. Sounds like the school is looking for the easy route (i.e. less work for them!) by expecting you to do the worrying about entering Thailand. As I said, it was three years ago, so I don't know if there have been any changes since then...

Same problem here in Prachuap. I have been complaining to TOT for several months. Both international and domestic connections suck. First few times, the engineer came out, looked at the problem, looked again, scratched his head, said it's OK now and left.... after doing nothing! Eventually my frustration led me to call the TOT helpline every morning, with the promise that an engineer would come out/they would call me back.... but no engineer and no call backs ever came.
The latest in my three-month saga was their suggestion that fibre-optic cable would solve the problem - great, I though! I don't mind paying more per month if the problem is solved. Engineers came out, did their 'survey' and declared that it was possible if I paid for the cable installation to my soi from the TOT station. A sum total of 8,000 Baht.... then TOT could sell the cable connection to everybody else in the soi, which would degrade the service that I paid for! So TOT want me to pay for their infrastructure? Great bit of marketing, guys....
Interestingly, the times when the engineer did initially come out to check, the internet connection would 'miraculously' improve about 10 minutes before he arrived, and would very quickly revert to its original level about 1 hour after he left..... the cynic in me suspects that there is a secret cable connection that TOT keeps free for just such occasions, then the engineer is justified in saying 'look, everything ok now' when he gets off his lazy ass to do an engineering call. Now, that couldn't possibly be the case.... could it?

Did I miss something here? The "amounts of the two toxic substances detected are within the set standards". Doesn't that mean that there is no story?
