Today my wife had a few missed calls on her phone from a 02 number, so she checked her email and her grant notice was sitting in her inbox.????
after ten months the long wait is finally over.
Granted subclass 309
Congrats steve, it looks like the partner visas are being processed quicker now, 9months for me, 10months for you, compared to the 12months processs last year...maybe less applications...or dare do i say it, they have become more efficient in their jobs!!

Hi Machans,
Congratulations! May I ask you:
Were you granted 100 or 309?
How long it took since you last submitted the additional documents?
Thanks!
We were granted sub class 100, i think it was may when we completed the police check, medical and some extra info required from immigration.

Thanks for response, so they made you take a photo of yourself with the kids, and they kept it for records? They provided the camera?

Hello everyone, just to keep this topic active, let me share my timeline with you:
16-02-2016 applied through VFS Bangkok
11-03-2016 visitors visa granted (single entry 3 month only with 8503)
21-07-2016 Medical and additional docs required by case officer
22-07-2016 Medical done in Melbourne
25-07-2016 Medical uploaded
29-07-2016 submitted additional docs through VFS Bangkok
No update yet
I've been following different forums, didn't see any updates for Thailand recently. I'm Chinese, so I also follow Chinese forums, for some reason, the process in China is fast this year, many people got their 309 granted within 6 months, and we are also the high risk country. I don't know why, maybe we have big population, more people are applying and more staff involved.
Anyway, good luck everyone, lets keep in touch.
Our timeline is one month different we applied vfs 16/01/2016 one month earlier than you, everything else is a mirror image of our timeline, medicals, police checks and extra docs sent off,
except we didn't apply for visitor visa and we are both in thailand,
coming up to 9 months and still no approval yet.

I have applied for a migration visa for my wife to come and live in Australia with me, I have been living in Thailand for the passed 5 years on a retirement visa, will I wished I had done it differently as it has been over 9 mouths now and still waiting for a reply from them> I am an Australia and I think it would have been quicker to send her on a boat from Indonesia and that's know joke
Same as you stewy, applied 9 months ago, January 16th, has she completed her medical and police check?, we were notified by email 5 months ago to complete and lodge, which we have. But no further correspondence.
I have been living here 7 years and we have 2 small children, have sold our house and have sent the cash back to Australia.
You say you are on retirement visa, are you self funded?

Now we are seven months into our wait. Still no news from the embassy everything has been submitted. My wife is with me in Melbourne now due to go back to Thailand in October returning one month later in November. I really hope that her visa comes through when she is back in Thailand. It would great to get her daughter settled before the start of a new school year.
We have sent off all required paperwork as well steve, medicals ,police checks for wife, probably 2months ago. I think we are on similar time frames, except we are in Thailand.
We also have had no further contact from case officer, from all the research I have done it seems to be almost exactly a 12month plus 1 week wait from first date. This would make it around 23january

If you carry a copy of his Australian citizenship and assuming you fly on a decent airline (not budget),
you will more than likely receive permission for him to fly to Oz.
The airline should contact the Entry Operations Centre in Canberra to receive uplift approval.
Not sure why you would bother with all of the possible hassles and delay's though.
If you get an incompetent/lazy airline official, he might get reused permission to fly
and that would ruin the holiday for everyone..
You've obtained citizenship so just fork out the jaspers and get him a passport I reckon.
Nobody flying on a thai passport can enter Australia without a visa, it costs about 8000bht to get a visa, and a lot of stuffing around with paperwork, identifications, etc, etc, he wont even get through customs in Bangkok without the visa, let alone on the plane.
Australian citizens are not eligible for a visa because they are Australians they MUST HAVE an Australian passport. My son was able to visit Australia on a thai passport with a visa before he had Australian citizenship by descent because he was classed as a thai citizen then.

Need Visa if travel on Thai passport - Get both, don't wait
Be aware, I was in same position, my son has oz citizenship and a thai passport, but no oz passport, he was not allowed a visa for his thai passport to enter Australia because they cannot issue a visa for an Australian citizen. He must have an Australian passport to enter Australia, which he now has.
When exitting Thailand, he leaves on his thai passport and enters on his Australian passport

I was there in april, had no problems, go early morning, then collect passport after 230pm the next day(they close for lunch) I had to show 100 000bht in thai bank and a copy of child's birth certificate, I thing the cost was the equivalent of about 8000bht but payable in Malaysian ringgits

good luck with it all steve, hopefully not too long to go.

hey guys just got a letter to go get medical checks. Any one have any idea on wait times from here on?
Where are you living steve oz or Thailand?
I notice our application went in a few days after you on the 14 jan 2016,but my partner did her medical 3 weeks ago, the letter was emailed to us, plus she completed her police check in Bangkok as well, we are waiting for the police check to come back..they said 45 days. We are hoping for an October result which would be 9 months..be interested to hear of any successful visas lately and how long they took
-
We had our first contact email yesterday, almost exactly 4 calendar months to date of submitting application.
They require the police check for her, medical exam which can all be done in Bangkok, they also want to see proof of relationship, which I thought I already submitted and applicants single certificate(translated in to English) does any body know what a single certificate is?
Has your girl been married before? My partner had, and had been divorced, so she got something in Thai to say she was single. I can't remember exactly but I think she got it from her local amphur or whatever they call it. It's a certificate.
Thanks yes, previously married and divorced to me!!..She had to go to the local amphur and get a certificate to say she had not remarried after the divorce.
-
She might get in this way...which is what I am doing when I return to Australia.
She can do 8 subjects first online, and if she passes and can complete the English competency course, can complete course.
Not cheap though, I think in total around $20 000.
She can study on a partner visa.
The best thing about this, is she can study first 3months in Thailand online, and if she doesn't like it, no need to move

we lodged our application yesterday at vfs in Bangkok 14 jan 2016,the nice lady(ladyboy) was very helpful,
said it would take 12months or more for visa to come through
we did all our translations and certifications at an office here in hua hin cost 3900bht
application fee for visa was 185630Bht.($7300 Australian)
filled out the forms ourselves, reasonably straight forward.emailed doc 888 to friends and family in oz to fillout for stat dec to prove our relationship, they were witnessed by a local jp,(they said a jp is in their local shopping centre every week)then they posted it back to us
our background
defacto thai partner
5years together
living now 6 years in Thailand
sold our house in hua hin,so have cash to bring back
have business interests in Australia for income
2young children(citizens by descent)
travelled once to Australia on tourist visa for a month last year
let the count down begin

Yes. My name is on the birth cert for what it's worth. I didn't sign anything at the hospital and not even sure I gave them a copy of my passport?
I live in rural Thailand so hoping can avoid a trip to Bkk. Some here say they did all online.
Shouldn't be any problem proving our history. She came and lived with me twice in Australia 3 months and 6 months over the last 3 years so tgat should be pretty strong. We provided all of the history of relationship back then
Both my young kids became citizens by descent last year, no dna test was required, my name was on birth certificate,we are divorced not married, all done at vfs in Bangkok, we now have 2 thai passports for them and have just received 2 Australian passports for them.

I am in the same situation as you family wise. We put our application forward in January, hoping to make school year next feb.
Hoping it will be a 10month wait, as seems to be more common. I think you have to register your child in October before the school year starts as well.
I personally would put it in as soon as possible, register your child for the school year in October and either go over youself first with the school age child and wait for spouse visa or more sensibly just wait in Thailand, at 5/6 yo a few months missed school wont matter, he could attend here for a while or do a bit of reading/homeschool with child yourself.
-
I am here now , visa has to be in between 9 am and noon, pick up next day at 2pm. Most taxis know where the embassy is, I lined up for about 20mins.Pick it up tomorrow, mine is a 12month multi entry based on having a child, cost 750 ringgit.
-
Sorry to resurrect a long dead thread but can anyone recommend where to get the child's birth certificate translated from Thai to English and whether you have to get this certified by the ministry of foreign affairs in Chang wattans?
There a certified translation services everywhere, I just had a translation done here in hua hin, under tlc the thai language school. It doesn't have to be stamped by foreign affairs, it just needs the certifiers stamp. Cost is about 450bht and takes a day,
I think the vfs in trendy building Bangkok has translation services as well.
