  1. Poor people my ass...you should see the houses the factory and Pratunam shop owners live in, and what type of cars they drive around in. I said I wasn't interested in the street vendor types.

i was actually referring more to the consumer... what about the families that cant afford the exubiant prices of a real jersey... you know how kids are and you must realise the real word pressures out there for kids to have the latest footy jerseys... to the capitilists care about that... no of course not, not even the official replica shirts are in a decent price bracket for the average family...

i am not a direct footy follower because i come from another part of the world but i hear of these issues all the time and the capitilists dont give a crap, they even go so far as to increase prices... when in fact the manufacturing of the shirts is not actually increasing...

they are hipocrits, they were the first to use sweat shops and the likes to increase their profit margins without any direct savings to the consumer...

  2. ...in respect of the definaition that was posted does that make you a troll for posting the thread...

a question posted on the forum may not seem stupid to the poster, especially by the newbies... we all had our first time in thailand and were all wet behind the ears... i have been here for over 4 years and fortunately when i arrived i had a lot of other friends who had been here alot longer to show me the ropes...

  3. have always had the majority of thais both young and old and both male and female be polite to me... of course there are the odd few, but that happens in every country... as being worried about stray bullets, i think not... and i really hope not... i wish this for everyone... being shot i have been told is not a real pleasant experience...

these guys have beefs with each other, and they have nothing to do with us, so stay out of their business and you should be ok :o

  4. yeah that would not be way near enought to live on over there, rents and other livuing costs are way up there with the west... and your thai gf would usually only be given a 1 month visa and you would need to accompany her on the flight... for a longer stay for her you would need to show substantial monies to show you can support her no probs...

  5. from many experiences from tenancy in various parts of the world and in thailand too, you can usually get a good feel if you are going to get your depsit back or not... this feeling can be interpreted from requests to fix things in the property within a decent time frame... all landlords that i have had that have not wanted to fix things (as per the rental contract), have been the ones that i have had a problem getting the deposit back from... the ones who fixed things quickly no questions asked have always been the ones who have given the deposit back quickly too...

  6. like i mentioned before, i do commend these guys who produce the english news shows, as producing any tv show is a challenging procedure... let alone in a foreign country.... and in most cases the quality of any production is always determined by the budget available for resources for the production...

so i hope this thread has not been taken by them as a negative demise on them, because i think this thread should be taken with a great load of positivity that people (their viewers) have taken the time to share their thoughts and feelings... good feedback for any business i would have thought...

  7. i have heard a couple of mixed reports which none should be quoted as fact...

the early closing times are only being enforced for the long weekend as alot of people from bkk are here and they dont want people seeing the city as special opposed to bkk? ... however, i have heard rumours that some places in bkk are still opening late this weekend?

the 1am closing time is the lead into the 12 am closing time that they had originally suggested a few months back and are still contemplating implementing very soon?

tony's could do well across the board if they would relax their drink prices... 200 Baht for a small bottle of heinekin and 190 baht for a bottle of water... you are joking arent you... anyway that is the reason i know of that alot of people dont go there... there are alot of nice girls there that you dont see in other establishments, but please the drink prices are a joke... and no i aint a cheap charlie just very thirsty when i go out :o

  8. some places also supply the kamagra jellies for about 100 Baht in blueberry, pineapple and strawberry flavours... some people say these have a stronger and longer lasting affect than the capsules and dont give you a suburnt face effect for the first hour after you have taken it... i have tried both the jellies and the capsules and prefer the capsules as they did not give me the sunburnt face effect...

caution should be taken though, i hade a mate (ok it was me) who was drunk... he took one capsule and thought it wasnt working so he took another one...his heart beats were going crazy pumping that much blood to a certain region of the body... not a healthy move!!!

  9. NO boys for me Doc Only Pooying :D

    What are "pooying"? :o

easy one to work out that one... even if you didnt know...

if he doesnt like boys... only "pooying" ...hmm, what could be the opposite of boys... maybe "girls"?

I agree with most of the comments from other members... however, i came across this, dont know if it would be any use to you and how up to date it is as it still has references to the drum club on it which has been closed for ages:

  10. I paid this guys once for advertising, now that come each week for free food. What can I do :D

    please help :o

put some of these suggestions for improvement from this thread in fortune cookies along with their dessert :D

  11. that means i would now have to come home from the beach or whatever i am doing earlier, eat dinner earlier and put the kids to bed earlier so i can still get the same amount of relaxation time on the weekend end nights out... everyone's schedule needs to change... everyone is thrilled!!! [sarcasm] ... haven't spoken to one person (thai & farrang) yet that is behind this decision...

interested to know other people's thoughts...

what happens to those people who have both daytime and night time jobs... who before would have a bit of time to relax between gigs... if everything is moved earlier there goes that already short window of reflextion time...

wonder who would be paying for the new advertising campaign to tell patrons of the earlier schedules...

  12. just as a matter of interest... how come in today's headlines on all the english news programmes there was no mention of the new early closing times that were enforced as of last night?

...i thought that would have been a significant headline?

could have been interesting to have them explained to who they are benfiting and also to have some interviews on how tourists and locals thought of the idea?

afterall, isnt the news meant to be the voice of reason for everyone :-)

  14. and as for the tv show, i like being able to see the local news in english and i commend those who take the time to put it together for us... but as others have said there is definately room for improvement.

The scripts, especially some of the wording could do with some work... for example i was around at my mates house at 4pm the other day and his kids who understand english heard somewhere along the lines of... "her brain was detached from her skull"... and a picture of some chick dead on the side of road with blood all over her... even i was a bit taken back by the scripting of the words...

For an example of your audio editing... the wine and dine for the art cafe when the guy says it is a quiet place to sit and eat and then right at that point a motorbike nearly sounds out his voice... the whole way thru the interview before and after that point was quiet... it was comical that the motorbike came right at that point when he said it was a quiet place to be...
