  1. I have been to Babylon many times. It is one classy place. The decor is sumptous.....very upscale. The restaurant is amazing (even though everyone is just in a towel. Babylon is a nice place to have a few drinks, listen to a torch singer, talk to some interesting people, and have a real traditional non sexual massage.

Forget everything you know about gay saunas. This is like an upscale country club which happens to have some 'iinteresting' areas to experience if you so desire. If you don't, your experience at Babylon will still be special and worthwhile.

  2. My ab fab is fried Morning Glory (Pad Pak Bung Fei dang).

When you order it at a restaurant, the waiter lights it on fire.....the flame is literally 10 feet high. very impressive. Just don't tell your date the real name of the dish is SWAMP CABBAGE!!!!!!!!

  3. The OP is obviously a complete freak...!

Totster, how dare you! How dare you!

The OP is not a freak, he is a 37 yr old good looking chap, no doubt with bundles of cash, personality a good heart and no doubt, huge penis.

And the reason he cant find all the good normal college educated women (coz everyone knows college educated means good right? :o ) is because we the keepers of the good normal college educated women have all their secret hang outs hidden away in threads on this forum.

To find a good normal college educated women, he must do as many have done before him, join Thaivisa, and ask the holiest of holy question

"Where are all the good thai girls?"

    :D

  4. I used to live in the Hollywood Hills. Now I split my time between Thailand and Palm Springs, CA.

I wish the Thai food in California was better (and its the best in the USA by far). The dishes are so drastically changed.....all the sauces are thick like gravy. The Tom Yum is gross at most places...very sweet. The problem is lack of good Thai produce....only a few places can get fresh galangal, kaffir limes, etc.

If anyone knows of a great Thai restaurant in LA or Plam Springs, please let me know.

  5. I have never been to a Thai wedding. What do I wear. Are they as formal as weddings in Europe/America?

Its taking place at the Dusit Thani near Silom. Family is somewhat well-off.

What kind of gift should I give? If cash, how much. Someone told me to put it in a red enveloppe.

    Thanks for the help.

  6. Hi,

I have lived in BKK for years now and cannot get over the poor quality and high price of just regular...everyday drinking wine. If I have another glass of jug Aussie wine I'll puke.

Anyone know why wine is so much compared to other beverages? Know any places to get good wine cheap??

  7. Try a couple of years in Pattaya and tell me how ' wonderful ' the Thai people are.

A city where much of the wealth has been made by people who have slept with someone to get money.

I came to Bangkok to work right after graduating from college. I had no experience in business. My salary right off the bat was third highest.....after the 2 directors. Many Thai employees were there for years with loads of experience (and college degreees). It was something like 100,000 baht per month (it was 25 baht to $1US).

Everyone thought I was LOADED. After paying for all the drinks every friday night

for a year I had not saved too much.

  8. a nice serviced studio apt in bkk can be had for $200 while a bare no frills studio apt in the usa would be at least $1000.

Your painting with an awfully broad stroke. While that my be tru in some parts of the U.S., $1000 would get you a nice, three bedroom apartment in every city I've lived in in the U.S.

I lived in Boston, USA before coming to live in Thailand. My rent for a studio was $1200. My rent the next year for a 3 bedroom was $2100. Utilities extra.

  9. I hate Pattaya with all my heart. I have never been to a more vile, disgusting, ugly place. But I have been going there for 15 years and will be back again next year. I love it for the first 2 or 3 days, then start to hate it again........but after a few months back home.....I start to miss it and make plans to go back. Wierd.

  10. Hi,

I do not want to sound selfish with all the death and desruction after the tidal wave.....but....I paid for a 2 week holiday in Ao Nang and Railey Beach. Does anyone know the extent of the damage. Thanks for your help.
