I don`t know. Even the Arab district at Nana has gone upscale. Loads of `look pretty`` upgrades to roads and buildings. Things never stand still. Upwards and onwards. More is better. Progress isprogress!

I always liked the layout of KL. Street food is clean and tasty, but the Malays are not nearly as friendly as Thais.

Ex pat Retirees I met in Penang & KL seem much more content with the fact they can own property & not have the 'Police State' mentality of annual immigration checks etc. but some others I met in Bali in Sanur are happiest there. Personal taste as with everything in life

Bali is beautiful but unless you surf or dive, not much to do there I would imagine. Also, public utilities, roads, medical, and shopping infrastructure are nothing compared to Pattaya/Thailand.

BKK would be FAR more livable if something were done about the level of air pollution. Crowds, traffic, heat and humidity are are all things I could live with, but not air pollution...

Last time I was in Pattaya was during the yearly Cobra Gold exercises. Lots O tourists and crap floating in the water! not the cleanest beach!!

i understand Hua Hin is generally a pricey place. Real estate is higher than in the rest of the kingdom.

Alternatively, you can pitch a tent on the beach and live off the grid!

Look through the papers. Get a local to help you with your hunt. i think you`ll get a better deal that way.

Went there once for a job interview, was pleasant enough.
