1. I wouldn't take it too seriously on most of the postings. Good to have a rant and a whinge about nothing and everything sometimes, but the problem is you can't see the person that posts the message or goes against your reply and therefore it's very easy to get the wrong end of the stick, so to speak.

    Agreed. :o

  2. Yes, but as long as the posts only concentrate on dissing Thai people you will continue to let these fools continue to post such worn out topics.

This forum is degenerating into the same depths as all the other Thai related forums.

Those that diss the farangs that perpetuate the sex tourism industry are banned, those that diss Thailand and Thai people remain.

    Farang rak Farang.

Too true, not very interesting to read people slamming each other with personal attacks.

  3. I'm not going to fan the fires, but some of you really give me a chuckle! Khun Larry, you are just too cute!

Thanks ladies for your posts. This whole thing actually came from a single Aussie girl I met. She's a stunner, tall, blonde, blue eyes, but she says she has difficulty dating in Asia because of the above reasons I won't mention again here. She actually prefers Thai men. And I thought it was an interesting topic. I think Farang ladies here are a really special set, I have never met so many strong and intelligent women as the ones who have traveled here and are doing some really amazing things with volunteer work or in business - true assets to the country.

Anyway, I'm certainly not bitter over anyone, lol, although somehow someone will find a way to think I am attacking them or just keep on repeating what has already been said, lol, but this was good entertainment while I had a cold and I think I'm just not getting anything worthwhile out of it so I'm turning over the post to Khun Larry because he's so sweet and smart and I know all the farang ladies want to fall at his feet! :o

  4. Thanks to those that actually answered my question or even read enough to know what I am talking about instead of digging to find a detail to criticize or making up something that I have not said. I really think a couple of you are mis-reading because I can't see that I even mention some of the things you are talking about, but it's no problem.

I can see that it is of little point for me to address some of the comments above. It is unfortunate that the board is used for people to try and make personal attacks against other members and many blessings to those who have that kind of aggression and need to get it out, it is very good that you can do it online and hopefully not in your real life. I'm quite flattered that people checked my other posts or even remember them - can't say that anyone else has thus so impacted me yet.

It's also sad that for some, anyone who has an opinion different from theirs is suddenly naiive, stupid, etc. I welcome good debate from anyone, but "you give me a headache" is not exactly quality debate material.

I am actually fluent in Thai and English, written and spoken and a dual citizen with a Master's degree and have lived here for a few years, as well as in many other countries. I have both Thai and farang friends, men and women, and have nothing against any races. I enjoy all aspects from both types of friendships. I have even had friends that were Thai prostitutes (by the way guys, you are not really 'handsome' man). There are much fewer farang women living here than Thai women or farang men, so it is a delight to get to talk to some. And clearly, not all men go to prostitutes or have been to prostitutes and it's refreshing to hear that from a poster on this board.

I definately am not saying that all Thai women are prostitutes, and I actually have nothing against prostitutes, having volunteered in the past to help them to move to other lives and occupations. I actually feel that prostitutes in Thailand are the victims. That men who use prostitutes contribute to young Thai girls and boys being sold or kidnapped from their villages into prostitution and gang-raped into submission. It is not all girls, but it does happen, and it wouldn't if there was no demand.

I do have apologies to ThaiAmGuy, I did not realize I said "Fortunately" and going back, it was not that I meant instead of a Thai guy, it was just in general. Many of my relatives are Thai men.

Anyway... not going to stretch into other topics.

  5. monkeygirl, this is the second time tonight, you give me a mild headache. :o

Do you really think you can make friends around here while mentioning in one line Thai woman and Thai prostitutes?

Did it ever enter your mind that Thai ladies can be just that, ladies, or at least human being?

Did it ever come to your mind that perhaps the one or other farang man does not want to get involved back home? There might be many reasons, two come to my mind, bloody high nosed, the second one, well I am too polite to mention it here.

Yes, I think you do have an attitude problem. :D:D:D

    axel,

i would appreciate constructive and useful comments in a polite manner. if you have a headache, take some medication. if i make you upset, don't read my posts.

i mentioned thai women separately because i did not want it to look like i think all thai women are prostitutes, because obviously they are not.

i can see you have a lot of hostility and it is good that you can clear in in a message board. And thank you for saying that I have an attitude problem, however, I did not ask that question.

now please, comments from women only on what i did ask. have a nice day.

  6. Fortunately I'm married to a farang and we came here together. But I always freak out that if it hadn't worked out that I would just spend the rest of my days alone here. It seems like most of the farang men are here for the Thai women or for Thai prostitutes.

Seems like so many of the farang men on this board are very hostile towards farang women because they cannot attract one where they come from. And the Thai men are mostly for Thai women because of family values, etc. So farang women are out in the cold! Also it seems even worse that most men have been with a prostitute here. It would make me uncomfortable to be with someone who had been with a prostitute ever or to be with someone that does not have moral value or quality.

By the way, very cool board. There should be a get-together, so hard to find farang female friends.

  7. This means, since she overstayed by four years, she will be unable to return to the U.S. for a period of 10 years and after that, most likely not able to get a visa again anyways. What you can do is get married in the U.S. as this will over-write her status and make her legal, or think about moving to Thailand, because if U.S. Immigration finds out, she will be deported and banned from entering the U.S. for 10 years.

Getting married does not automatically make her legal. She will have to still go through the whole application process anyway. And frankly, overstaying her visa 4 years will probably not be a benefit in the eyes of US immigration.

And hey, tell your GF thanks, because of people like her my husband had a very difficult time getting a visa when we first got married.

I agree on that one, my husband is a Brit and I'm American and Thai. Thanks to people who break the laws in all countries it is difficult for us to find a place where we can both live and work together without lengthy visa problems.

  8. Does that whitening cream work? Because everywhere I go, everything is whitening. I am already white. If I use it, will I look at white as Michael Jackson then? I like the colour I am, no need to be darker or whiter, why can't everyone else be happy with their colour too? Funny how farangs want to be darker and Thais want to be lighter.

  9. I saw two prostitutes come out with two total ugly bushpig farang men one morning at a hotel. I wonder how they manage to do it without vomiting, and if the men actually believe all that "you so handsome" crap. These girls are wonderful actresses. I can't imagine that it's really pleasant for a woman to have sex with anyone that she doesn't want to, even if he's good looking. You're probably not a stud if you didn't pay her, you're just a cheap bastard who took advantage of someone who has to have sex for money.

  10. Just wondering if Thais have/use engagement rings. I hear them talking about it but I've never actually seen one wearing an engagement ring and don't really see them sold either? Is it something you keep at home so you don't get robbed or are diamonds not popular? If it's something that Thai men don't do, do farang guys still do it? What kind did you get her and did she like it?

  11. I have met so many shy, harmless stray dogs, some that are in a real sorry state. Some are really heartbreaking, because they wander around alone with no attention and some would have obviously made really great pets under different circumstances.

I know in the West we put them under (we kill them with injections), and that is also really hard, but I don't understand why there isn't more of a campaign to sterilize pets or educate the public about acquiring pets irresponsibly and then throwing them out on the street.

When they wanted to clear up the streets for APEC they had no problem, so why can't they educate the public to be more responsible?

This is the saddest part of Thailand I think. It's an epidemic for sure, that the government needs to start looking and working out a solution. For sure it is not the fault of the dogs, they are going to breed, and when they get hungry and abused, they can hurt humans, and certainly they are a traffic hazard.

In BKK, they do round them up and sterilise them but they do it in mass groups and throw them on top of one another while they are unconsious. they receive no medication to heal and many get infections and die. i had one of my dogs neutered and even with the pain medication i insisted the clinic give me, i know he was confused and hurt.

not only that, these dogs are not returned to the same spot where their 'territory' is, so their lives are once again upheaved if they had been receiving food at the place where they were picked up. it is very cruel and disgusting.

many thais also poison the dogs, a long suffering death. i think euthanising many of these dogs in a painless and quick manner would be a relief to their miserable lives but it is not the 'buddhist' way.

and it is terrible that it takes a group of farangs across the country at four non-profit organisations that i know of (ko tao, bkk, chiang mai, ko samui), to try and sterilise dogs and care for the ones that are hurt. they are fighting a difficult battle though, because there are very few adoptive homes in thailand. thais generally want those very small shit-zhus or chis, and they are massively overbred and sold in markets, also pretty cruelly. if you've been to one of these markets, you'll see lots of sick puppies, birth defects and more, and the parents are locked up somewhere breeding more than they should be bred. i've seen st bernards locked up in cages all day that were barely big enough to accommodate them and baby pugs with cataracts in both eyes.

but the scope of the problem is very wide, in a country that cannot afford to take care of people, how can they take away someone's livlihood or even begin to make a dent in the stray population? that is why it is so important for us, as residents thai or farang, to help out this country by supporting organisations that have taken the initiative to make things better here. Soi Dog Rescue has spay and neuter programs that are humane, but they have to work on small sections of the city at a time, and it will be a long time before they get all around. i think it's great that they have adopted out so many dogs, but most of them went to homes in the US or Europe, when there are how many people living in Thailand???

if we want to point fingers though, i think that we can not point them at the dogs, but rather at the government and others that do nothing. i'm not saying that everyone can take a dog, for sure, many people can't handle the responsibility and should not have a dog, but there are ways to help. every bit makes a difference.

"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little." - Edmund Burke, 1729 - 1797 :o

  12. well i think thailand is one of the greatest countries on earth or i wouldn't be living here. thai people are nice and polite and clean, in general. it's very affordable for me to live here and there is a high standard of medical care - in cluding medical professionals that are actually paying attention to what the heck they are doing!! i can tell you that every single time i have had my teeth cleaned in the USA that the hygineist is rushed and nicks my gums or lip or something. here the dentist cleans my teeth and she is so precise and careful. and it all costs a fraction of the price of the USA. I like that there is so much to do here, all in a small space. I can go to the mountains, the islands, very modern shopping malls, whereever, in a short flight. I love the variety of fruits at the market, the great thai food that is so affordable that I never have to cook. I love that families are so reliable and unselfish here, actually that most people in general are less stuck up and selfish than in America. Actually what's not to like? There's everything here but with the time and money to enjoy it, way better than the US and Europe, where I've lived before.

  13. i hope they don't disappear, i love them!! movie stars and associated companies and software manufacturers charge way too much. they all make a lot of money and the whole industry is quite gluttonous. it's nice that the average person can have a nice cd/movie collection that they might not otherwise be able to afford. if you really enjoy something and want the crisp real deal, then i'll buy the original.

  14. Good job done, I think the taxi driver should have done the pair of them properly.Good on him, the two little idiots involved are still alive and I bet they will not do it again. You know what they say '' They have been made an example of ''.

    If you do the crime!!!!!!!

    Expect to be hurt.

okay stabbing is maybe a bit harsh, but if they were dumb enough not to pay up, they deserved something. too many foreigners act like idiots when they come here. i ran into a group of young farang men ranting and raving in a bkk hotel about how the hotel sucked and everyone was out to get them and the police were coming and we should leave the hotel because they hate farang. meanwhile the staff was as calm as if nothing happened. they were all waiting for the police to arrive and talk to the boys and the taxi driver that brought them there the night before. the bellhop quietly mentioned to me in thai that the boys were all drunk and rowdy and thought they paid the taxi driver when they did not, so the hotel called the police. now guess who i believe? stupid little punters.
