This comes despite the fact that the disease can't be transmitted via sexual contact.
Though information available online says that monkeypox spreads through close skin-to-skin physical contact with infected individuals such as when having sex or contamination with such items as bedding, towels or clothes, said the NSW government health department in Australia.
You cannot put it any simpler than that..........

Who the hell thinks up these stupid ideas?
If I were a tourist, I'd want to bring at least enough to cover one each day for each of my family...........

Has a Thai girlfriend and two kids but left two years ago and hadn't returned since.
Sounds like he should have had his visa situation in order first or made the effort before now to return before now.
did it occur to you that lots of folks have been trapped because of covid lockdowns & travel restrictions?

The burning question which has not been answered is were the infected actually tourists or returnees and where were they travelling from
What difference does it make if they were tourists or returnees? All came from abroad.........

.......so how many arriving on domestic & cargo flights?
Is this really the extent of their reporting abilities?

For someone that has entered and left 5 times over the last 18 months, all these positive changes are a step in the right direction and make a massive difference.
Did you actually travel as a tourist?
Slight difference if your travels are part of work........

But he chose not to return to the UK to renew his policy. He wasn't ill when his policy ran out so all this <deleted> is his own making. I just wonder if when his policy ended he didn't try and get a Thai policy.
Not wishing to argue, I suggest you go back and read the first few paragraphs of the article for a better comprehension before getting judgemental.

So they traveled aboard with no cards or ability to get someone back home to help.? BS
With respect, are you aware that travel insurances for the elderly can only be renewed if they are physically present in the UK? I am speaking from personal experience of dealing with insurance companies on behalf of my parents.
So, unless you have verifiable means of doing so to the contrary, I suggest you close the door behind you, BS or not.

Seriously, the British Embassy should get off their backsides and arrange something similar for UK expats. You might think that they would be shamed into doing something but I guess that the chances of anything happening are slim to none!
Seriously though, what tangible roles has any British Embassy played during the covid pandemic, for the benefit of its citizens?

Couldn't have happened at a worse time what with covid still raging and travel so difficult.
Good luck to him, he's going to need it.
Sadly, when the pandemic hit, lots of 'tourists' were trapped (not only in Thailand) and had no ability to extend their insurances, a point that the government should have taken on board to underwrite. There was even failure to repatriate those affected, and from what little I gather, the British embassies sat on their hands........

On Monday I will try and log in to the new site and see if it lets me since I already registered on the one put out on Monday.
Why would you register again if you have already done so?
Presumably, you are over 60 and have a confirmation of registration from the last time.
Don't hinder the situation!

What happens when the 10 years is up ?
Good point.
With all the increasing uncertainties in Thailand regards residential restrictions, property ownership, the immigration reporting, etc. why on earth would foreigners want to choose Thailand as a permanent home? Go holiday there by all means......
