Anutin added that His Majesty the King has granted three biosafety vehicles to test local residents around the market, while the ministry has provided 2,500 viral transport medium tubes, 2,500 nasopharyngeal swabs, Rapid Ab test kits, 100 personal protective equipment suits, 200 waterproof gowns, 500 surgical masks, 100 face shields as well as other equipment to officers carrying out the testing.

So, that covers 1 market area.........

What is this guy on? The Thai economy relies too much on export and Tourism? Exporting is one of the major ways any country increases its wealth, it is one of the most important economic factors there is. And as for Tourism, without it Thailand would be as poor as Cambodia or Laos are now. Trillions of dollars from tourism have flowed into the country in a one way free for all

He is simply stating that Covid has exposed how much the country relies on exports and tourism.......he is not on anything!!

    Need for enforcement!

They probably look upon enforcement as tantamount to making people lose face..........
What they really need is an ability to:

    a) acknowledge their procedural shortcomings, including 'passing the buck'
    b) acknowledge that their education system needs overhauling so that they can communicate with the rest of the world.
    c) install some bodies within government who are keen on getting things done rather than just attend meetings.
    d) have proper channels of communications
    e) simplify their visa systems (including work permits) so that they appear more welcoming
    f) Introduce a liveable wage for the police & teachers
    g) Modernise their sewer systems
    h) Identify their 'red tape' hindrances and dispense them
    i) cut out unnecessary gov committees

    j) Become proactive in 'name & shame' schemes with appropriate punishments........

.........getting a headache now despite having a couple of refreshing beers..........
I am sure others have things to add..........

However to think that they can suddenly turn it into some kind of high end resort though is nothing but a massive pipe dream. Let’s be honest, prior to Covid you couldn’t even walk down Beach Road in the daytime without being accosted several times by aggressive hawkers trying to sell you viagra, cigarettes or fake sunglasses at inflated prices? The streets, beach and sea are filthy, with garbage piled up all over the place and out of date overflowing sewers a regular occurrence. Not to mention the state of the pavements/ sidewalks and pedestrian crossings with walls or other obstructions at one end?

You hit the nail on the head. This bit alone should make trip-advisor!

Perhaps they mean Visa Exemption stamps that people arriving without a visa get (nationality allowing).

But, who the h3ll knows what the h3ll they're on about.

What's also laughable is yet another committee  "The government’s business easing committee".......

It gets boring doesn't it , more rules and regs. with nobody enforcing them .

    ....yes, enforcing is the key.

it could be initiated with a simple incentive scheme for the enforcers......not only would this start to move the 'system' away from the brown envelopes, but will ultimately bring some respect within the civil service......

  7. "However, the unrest has not impacted interest in the country, Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Yuthasak Supasorn told Reuters."

What does this even mean? Is this based on the 39 special visa holders?

"There have been no cancellations or any enquiries about it so far and people are following the news,"

Do those future tourists from China even know of the unrest?

Why would anyone want a cracker box 35 to 50 SqM condo. That's what 8 Mthb will buy you in Bangkok.  Why plow a million USD into real estate to get a work permit.  More carrots being dangled that are coated with vinegar.

Does Thailand actually realise how much they have alienated foreigners in general through their ever increasingly childish visa/investment schemes, which if truth be told is going to hurt the country in coming years.

It's mainly retirees who choose to live in Thailand, they are not after work permits anyway.

    For once, wake up Thailand......
