  1. Oh yeah, baby!!

    Things are getting interesting!

Steve Smith unimpressed with Virat Kohli's send-off during Twenty20 at Adelaide Oval

Australian Test captain Steve Smith has hit back at Virat Kohli, labeling the sledge of his dismissal "not on".

Smith was talking to the Channel Nine commentary team when caught by a fired-up Kohli in Tuesday's Australia Day Twenty20 loss to India.

Kohli, clearly aggrieved by Smith's on-field analysis, proceeded to gesture with his right hand and mouth off that the Australian skipper had been talking too much and should focus on his batting

Speaking to Fox Sports on the Allan Border Medal red carpet, Smith believes Kohli's celebration was not necessary.

"He gets pretty emotional out there, doesn't he?" Smith said

"I don't think you need to do that kind of thing when someone gets out.

"It's fine to have a little bit of banter when you're out in the field, but when someone is out I don't think that's really on."

The 26-year-old fell short of blaming Channel Nine for his wicket, saying his dismissal was due to a bad shot.

"It [the commentary] was on at the time, but for me it was just a bad shot," Smith said.

"I tried to chip one over the top for two rather than trying to hit him for four or six.

"It was my fault and I got to do better next time."

It's not the first time Kohli has been caught getting under the skin of Australia this summer, telling all-rounder James Faulkner "I've smashed you enough in my life, just go and bowl" in an exchange between the pair during the third one-day international in Melbourne.

In response to the Faulkner sledge, Kohli said in a Facebook Q&A last week that teams are looking for an edge in a competitive environment.

"It's happening on a regular basis nowadays. Cricket has become really, really competitive and people will try and disrupt you in any way possible." Kohli said.

"The opposition has every right to use that as long as it doesn't cross the line. And you have every right to reply as long as it doesn't cross the line.

"I think there have been a lot of smart comments over the years and mine turned out to be a perfectly timed one. I didn't intend to do that, I just said what came to mind, which was actually not far from the truth."

    Priceless.

    Typical bully behaviour.

Dish it out but can't take it.

  2. That shitty bar area was a disgrace and he did a public service ripping it down and replacing it with a park

Do you mean Clinton Plaza? The brainchild of a Dutchman and an American, began as a collection of beer bars in 1998. The following year it was named after then U.S. President Bill Clinton. A number of lively go-go bars appeared in 2000. Many of the names were tongue in cheek jabs at the president, including Monica Beer Bar, Bill's Coffee House and the White House.

I doubt any of you fellows ever saw the place.

    Oh yeah Mr Doubtfire.

I quite vividly recall my boss telling me in March 2001 to book my ticket to BKK as the East Asia rep for our company, so you are off by about a year.

As best I recall, the place was built and destroyed in 2001, not 2000.

Checking my archive and yahoo-ing a bit I come to January 2003 (probably the night of 25th to 26th) for the demolition of Sukhumvit Sq. on the corner of soi 10. Opposite was Clinton Plaza building with a few bar around it. Still standing for one (or two?) years longer before demolished to make space for yet another magnificent hotel.

Sounds pretty precise. I was living on Lat Phrao April 2001 - May 2003 when I moved to Pattaya.

Anyhow, it was a long time ago, but was definitely NOT 2000.

I just recall thinking it would be another Nana Plaza or Soi Zero, but it didn't last very long, nor did Soi Zero for that matter.

    Thanks.

Soi Zero may not have been around long after you arrived, but it was there long before that, although named 'Buckskin Joe' way back. I know it was there in the early '80s, when I arrived, and believe it was there at the end of the Vietnam War. A bar there, called Sexy Nights became the unofficial R&R home of the US Army Fifth Detachment, who were tasked with find MIAs. That bar became known as Det 5, and is still in business on Soi 8. Great place BTW.

I played a lot of pool on Soi Zero, and met some great guys and girls there.

Again, of no interest to the vast numbers of Bwanas who ride past it in taxis these days.

    But it was good.

    Buckskin Joe's (Soi Zero).

    Loved that place.

Wanida was the bar I used to frequent.

  3. Waiting for someone to abuse someone else with a doll. Doll owner shoots abuser and says the doll made me do it. 500 Baht fine….for the doll.

Or….defamation lawsuit brought by a doll.

You know, that probably isn't too far away.

"Your doll looked at my doll with intent" scenario.

    Unbelievable.

Still, would love to see it..............................wink.png

You know I wasn't joking when I wrote that.

  4. Just biding time until he leaves, he will be given until it is not possible to get top 4 same as Moyes was, let's face it we are not going to make top 4, so IMHO he should just leave and being in someone who could turn it around and scrape a top 4 spot.

According to LVG, last week you had a chance of winning the League.

Give the guy a chance . You know it makes sense.

United arent like other clubs. Sacking managers like shelling peas.

I think LVG will end up doing a phenomenal job.thumbsup.gif

LVG is already doing a phenomenal job.
