  1. Found this on the budget site

All drivers must hold a current, non-probationary license. The license may either be Thai, or from a renter's country of residence (with an English translation) or an international drivers permit. Licenses (and a valid passport) must be carried at all times when driving.

    https://www.budget.co.th/TipsDriveThai.aspx

So with your 1 year license it seems you are out of luck

Assuming that the license the OP holds is issued in Thailand, I would think he has a valid license, since there are no permanent licenses in Thailand.

After 1 year he will get a 5 year license, which I understand is also temporary since he will have to renew it every 5 years .

In general there are many people with lack of reading capability. Or they have problems in understanding the sense of content. The latter is mostly due to a lack of logical thinking. @MJCM gave us here a brilliant example. clap2.gifcheesy.gif

  2. Unfortunately TMD has not earned any trust or confidence in the past with their predictions. Whenever they say: strong winds, you know it is the perfect time to go out on a small boat, when they say 'no wind, better be careful of strong winds. Same for the rain.

Windguru is not totally reliable as well but much, much better.

    +1

That's right... TMD don't earn any confidence nor get their things together. EX.: Rain radar loop at <http://www2.tmd.go.th/radar/pkt120Loop.php>. The high trained stuff thinks 4 images with an interval of 3 HOURS will make a visual loop of the rain clouds. Many times mentioned, but the reaction or repair is ZERO since weeks.

  3. the only outcome of tuesday talks with opposition, is a forum. Opposition is not interested in talks and compromise, they showed it a few months ago when they were invited to forum about reconciliation and amnesty.

they are after full power now, but whatever means.

tourists can only wait, when the airports will be occupied again

Really, what makes you hope the airports will be occupied, except by legitimate travelers, of course?

It may have happened, by a huge judgement of error some years ago, but lessons have been learned this time. No airport occupations by anyone, red, yellow, blue or green.

Let's wait and see..... Astonished to hear Thais can learn lessons. giggle.gifw00t.gif

  4. Some of the most ridiculous, boorish and aggressive behavior I've ever seen in Thailand has all been Australians. I don't know what's going on "down under" but it seems to be a nation pre-disposed to produce scumbags.

No surprise. They are the descendants of British criminals deported by the Kingdom at that old time. That's why we can see certain similarities between the English and the Australians... ;)

  5. Strictly speaking you still need to report. In practice, most times immigration cannot be bothered with it and requires only hotels and such to report your stay.

It seems to me that the Immigration Office enforced the regulation recently. While we were waiting in a queue to apply our papers a woman from a local hotel came to report about ONE foreign guest. It seems to be a headache for the hotels too as they have to send somebody to report about the foreign guest and to get a notification of the registration. It takes time and money. We were lucky to have not a long queue today. What about hours to wait? And foreigners are supposed now to pay more for a room as the cost of registration is included. What would happen if they will spend awhile in their friend's house without registration and be caught red-handed to live not registered? How to avoid troubles?

@witchhunter, you've asked: "How to avoid troubles?" Easy answer: STAY AWAY FROM THIS COUNTRY!!! (Privat meaning: They deserve it because of their bureaucracy. No aliens, no money flows in.)

  6. I've lived at many places in Thailand. First thing when I move to a new place the population of soi dogs gets down rapidly in my surroundings. I don't understand this. whistling.gif Someone out there who could solve this riddle???

Are you confessing to being a dog-eliminator ? ;-) Methods used pls ?

I feed them.... One time only... Style: Last Supper. ;)

  7. I buy from Invade quite often. Excellent prices and service.

This has become my preferred way of IT shopping in Thailand.

What products are so good value?

Just checked Wester Digital portable HD 1T

    InvadeIT = 2,890 baht

    Pantip = 2,810 baht

You are really a cheap charly, @ExpatOilWorker... Moaning about 2 Euros and not able to think... cheesy.gif

There is a very big difference between this two places. Ask the seller at Pantip about some detail of a product and then do the same at InvadeIT. The seller will stutter nonsense and Thomas from InvadeIT will give you substantiated information. Because he knows what he is talking about. In addition, the service is incomparable at InvadeIT. Ex.: They will handle ALL warranty cases for the customers as intermediate for you (WITHOUT ANY FEE). I am happy with them since years.

  8. Let me resume: They announced an illegal act, they still did it years ago (public bus shuttle Kata/Patong), the police is unable (unwilling) to enforce the law (ex.: last blocking of deep sea harbour). To name only a few of the "events".

This announcement of anarchy gives a good reason to the Gov to call in the army. Declaring a state of emergency to enforce public order and peace. Gov, its up2u now. Have the guts! Have the balls!

  9. It is just an advice for toilet cleaning made by a dog, but it could work in your case too.....

    Instructions for cleaning your toilet:

    1. Open the toilet lid and fill in 1/8 cup of pet shampoo.
    2. Take your cat in your arm and fondle her while moving cautiously toward the bathroom.
    3. At an appropriate moment throw the cat into the toilet bowl and close the toilet lid. You may want to stand on the lid.
    4. Now the cat will start with the self-cleaning process and produces enough foam. Do not be distracted by loud noises from the toilet, your cat enjoys it!
    5. Now press several times on the handle to flush the toilet. This starts the "power-wash" process and the subsequent rinsing.
    6. If you are standing on the toilet lid, ask someone to open the front door. Make sure that there are no people between the toilet and the front door.
    7. Then open (with keeping a safe distance from the toilet) the lid as quickly as possible. Due to the high speed of your cat she will be blow-dried.
    8. Now the toilet and the cat are both clean again.

    With best regards,

    The dog

Here some pictures of the cat and the dog....
