  1. Its funny , in my country Thais can buy land (I know some who did) maybe its time to do the same to them as they do to foreigners here, I will call for a campaign in my country against Thais who buy properties. It would be so much better and easier to close the country like north korea. So , we pay taxes , we consume but .... Start to become too restrictive. Pay and spend money but shut up ... is that the new Amazing Thailand campaign ?

No Laurent, it's not a new campaign.... it has ever been like that.

  2. Two Canadians' bodies to be sent to Ramathibodi Hospital

    The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police will send the bodies of two Canadians who died mysteriously at a hotel in Phi Phi Island to the Ramathibodi Hospital for autopsies.

Audrey and Noemi Belanger were found dead at the Palm Residence Hotel last Friday. Both were in their 20s.

The autopsies will be conducted at the Ramathibodi Hospital upon the request of the Canada embassy in Bangkok.

Institute of Forensic Medicine's commander Maj General Somboon Tantrakul Tuesday said the bodies were initially sent to his institute by the Mueang Krabi Police Station.

OK then.... at least... lets see, what they will find out.

  3. Easy enough for Police to make significant progress with applying this Law. Doesn't need nation wide action. Maintain Taxi Licence checkpoints at every airport and major train station, with on-the-spot vehicle confiscation. Any of these drivers who held a full and unblemished driving licence and had no other recent criminal convictions, could be offerered the opportunity to sit a new and enhanced Taxi Drivers test and/or face Court action. That would curb the majority of Licence dodging. Other Taxi driving regulations such as use of meter, should be rigorously enforced. These actions would enhance respect for the important role of Taxi Drivers in society. Of course, the Cab owning Companies must be prosecuted as accessories, alongside any driver caught breaking these Laws. Job done !

How long you stay in Thailand (if you do)? How much "backstage view/knowledge/experience" you have of "real" life here, especially in transport business? Either you are a newbie or blind. Dream on, my dear...

  4. What comes next??? Fee for aircon, fee for using the stairs to enter the plane (otherwise you have to use a rope), fee for toilet, fee for a smile...

I have stopped to fly with this airline since half a year. Tired to waste my time with online booking on a crappy website which gives you the final price only at the end of the procedure. And this price is often horrible for a low cost carrier.

  5. Huh my last 90 day reporting slip has 5 stamps on it. I've never been asked for a copy of anything at Phuket Immigration for a 90 day report. I'm usually in and out in less than 5 minutes. They told me only when I got a new passport I needed a copy of the front page and only if I change addresses would they need to look at my lease.

I can confirm this. I've done my report on 3rd of August. Business a usual ad no changes in Phuket: Passport, filled in TM47-form and nothing else. 5 minutes later I've left the office with the new receipt of notification in my passport.

  6. I think most folks are misreading this article.

What is popular in Thailand is Thai dating websites. Many Thai girls meet men with these websites. There are some bad guys out there who befriend a woman using the dating website and after a while promise to seed the woman something special. The woman gets excited and patiently waits for her gift. Instead she received the message customs needs to be paid and the man instructs the woman how to do it. The woman sends the money and gets nothing in return.

This is more common than most people think and is a real problem. I hope everyone understands the situation now.

I don't misunderstood the article. This kind of cheats are worldwide. But the customs had choosen unwisely some bad keywords. Instead of giving out a global warning the customs brings it close to irony... Unintentionally. But this kind of "humor" produces the biggest laughs.... as you can see in the postings above. ;-)
